Does the OP not realise they'll be SUFC staff who read this forum?
I rest my case, m'lud.

Im not in favour of a pitch invasion just asking people opinions after what happened last year and will probably happen again if we win

Really hope that doesn’t happen. I’m also in the upper tier so il just be jealous if it does happen.

Mentioned it on another thread, but the club should simply circulate that any pitch invasion will incur a one season ban and removal of any loyalty points accrued.
Then set the CCTV systems to record and make good on that threat. If any ST holders do it, they’ll likely have already renewed and you can also resell the seat, so you can even increase potential revenue as most games as likely to sell out if we are promoted.

Take the piss all you want out of this post but it's a serious plea.

If we score halfway through the match, please don't invade the pitch as i worry that if too many people invade the pitch, the match could get called off... the players could lose their focus because they're focusing too much on telling people to get off the pitch. Chris Wilder could do a Brian Clough and clobber some fans trying to get them off the pitch.

Seriously though, I for one would love to invade the pitch but only after the match. Don't do it during.

Northampton was different - there were about 1,500 fans, not 30,000 fans. Much higher risk of things getting out of hand and even the match being postponed due to people not getting off the pitch or taking too long.

Please don't be stupid and ruin what I hope and I assume for many others... to be the greatest football match in our living memories.

Let's for once not do it after either. I can understand the desire (I did it as an 11 year old when we beat Coventry on pens in 1998), but IF we win this game, let's celebrate, enjoy, and let the players and staff that will have (all but) achieved something beyond remarkable come back out and enjoy the appreciation from the fans in the stands.

Could this not have gone on one of the other two threads ( at least ) posted today regarding pitch invasions? Foxy and Linz are going to suspend the site for a few days at this rate.

Oops,I didn't look very hard. Didn't see. People stop reading after the first page of comments anyway. Hard to get a point across if it's not on the first page of comments

Would you invade the stage at a concert given by your hero?
Only bad things can come from invading the pitch. The world Is different now. The players have a right to some security, which is non existent with 10000 people on the pitch. Its just madness, and pointless.

Players deserve a lap of honour regardless of the result. Let them have it.

Can always do a pitch invasion for a beamback against stoke like we did v Northampton Town!!

Why should I support fans putting our players at risk, damaging the pitch and potentially the reputation of the club while doing something they’re explicitly told not to? Not to mention something the players will not want, given there is still a game to play, and none of them look particularly comfortable when mobbed. There is also the whole security risk.
You want unity, then put the club, players and other fans ahead of your own selfishness. The choice is yours, but if you do act against the wishes of the club, players and majority of fans, I hope they do take action to ensure it’s discouraged.

I used to love a good pitch invasion back in the day, but maybe it’s that I’m older but like CarlMcBlade says, it’s very 90s.

Without internet or smartphones they seemed to be more spontaneous, but now days it seems to be a planned, organised celebration in order to be seen on Sky Sports News or taking selfies and posting them online.

Damaging the club's reputation!!

So you don't like pitch invasions, and like overstating their risks.

But to be unwilling to overlook it in the event of a promotion to the PREMIER LEAGUE so shortly after 6 years in League One, to the extent you'd even want fans banning and ridding of their season ticket money and loyalty points, is something I find bizarre to say the least. Like your outrage at a pitch invasion would outweigh your joy with promotion?!

Nope, I’ll just think “What stupid selfish Cunts” and get on with celebrating without pissing off the club, players and fans.
You are 100% damaging the clubs reputation. You think it would be applauded outside your small select group by anyone?
This is all before the fact that there is a final game to play where the title could be up for grabs.

You do get there is a final game to play where the title could be up for grabs?

Yep. But players generally don't get injured in pitch invasions. They're very capable of looking after themselves.

I understand the security risks with pitch invasions on certain occasions, but this wouldn't be one of them.

If 5,000 go on the pitch do you want them all banned? Really?

Kids love pitch invasions anyway. Won't somebody please think of them?

Literally every other club in the league would do it. It would not damage our reputation one bit.... outside your small select group.

I would suggest that this should be put out by Radio Sheffield and The Star.
I know this is a very popular forum but won't reach anything like the audience necessary if the fan base is to be persuaded to behave appropriately

They shouldn’t have to, but how can they protect themselves from fans running and jumping on them?
“Generally” also isn’t a term that makes me think it’s worth the risk given we’ve a game still to play.

I understand the security risks with pitch invasions on certain occasions, but this wouldn't be one of them.
Why not?

There aren’t that many selfish idiots at our games.

Yeah you seem to be getting loads of support on here, and the booing is just there to encourage you.
If pitch invasions and players safety are used to try and put up netting or barriers at grounds you’ll be one of the first complaining.
