Hogan has started 3 games for us, yes, just 3 and the criticism and lack of confidence in him at this early stage of his Blades career is quite frankly pathetic.

In the games he’s started we beat Reading 4-0 where he looked very lively and should’ve scored atleast one, we won. We beat Rotherham 2-0 in a game where he looked lively again, great movement and making some great runs which weren’t spotted and Rotherham were time wasting even when they were winning, we won. We beat Brentford 2-0, don’t get me wrong he didn’t do much in this game but it was made very difficult by the Madine stupidity, Hogan isn’t a lone striker, he needed someone on with him, we won again though. Can anyone spot a theme here? Give the bloke a chance ffs!

Can feel a goal coming from the lad sooner rather than later. Thought it'd come against Brentford actually, until Madine did what he did. I don't think of Hogan is a million miles away and it gives me confidence knowing we've got him as an option tbh.

Good points Wiz however whilst in a perfect world it ain't black and white in the race to go up it is. I wouldn't pick Hogan or Washington but whatever Wilder does is the right call as far as I'm concerned.

If we’ve got a fully fit squad Bill then I don’t think many would want Hogan or Washington to start but the point of this discussion on this thread is because maybe it won’t be a fully fit squad and perhaps we’ll have to use the rest of the squad. I also hope some fans are going to give Hogan more than 3 games so they can form a better or different opinion of him.

Been itching to start this thread and start talking about proper football again.

All the players that have been away on international duty, touch wood, have seemingly come back unscathed.

We now face a Bristol City team on a poor run of form, but whom against we have struggled with at Bramall Lane.

Every game is a big game now but with Leeds v Millwall, 3 point here are vital.

I believe there is only 1 key decision this weekend in regards to the line-up, Hogan or McGoldrick - who has played 2 games in 4 days over the break.

Duffy has had a good rest now so his inclusion should be a no-brainer.

I personally would go with;

My only concern/worry is behind the absence of Norwood from the international squad over the last week for 'personal reasons' and due to this he won't be available in June for them either. Whilst I don't expect the club to tell us the reasons behind this it may put a question mark over his availability.

In the Star yesterday CW was saying the Coutts had stepped up to a different level ( or words to that effect) during the training camp in Spain. Possibly Coutts to start tomorrow ?

Assuming the back/midfield 8 pick themselves, the front 3 is the question.

McG playing virtually 2 full internationals and following on from the Leeds game is a big ask.

For me, Billy and Duffy have to start and I would want McG to start. McG can have a rest for the 2 tough away games where I would expect Dowell to come into strong contention as well as Hogan.

What we have seen is CW is not afraid to make bold choices - the question is does he carry on with this philosophy?

That was definitely how I read it at the time. I don’t expect him to miss a minute for the remaining games, assuming he avoids injury.
