Been itching to start this thread and start talking about proper football again.

All the players that have been away on international duty, touch wood, have seemingly come back unscathed.

We now face a Bristol City team on a poor run of form, but whom against we have struggled with at Bramall Lane.

Every game is a big game now but with Leeds v Millwall, 3 point here are vital.

I believe there is only 1 key decision this weekend in regards to the line-up, Hogan or McGoldrick - who has played 2 games in 4 days over the break.

Duffy has had a good rest now so his inclusion should be a no-brainer.

I personally would go with;

- - - - - - - - - - - - Henderson - - - - - - - - - - -

- - - - - - Basham - - Egan - - O'Connell

Baldock - - - -Norwood - - Fleck - - - - Stevens

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - -Duffy - - - - - - - - - - - - -

- - - - - - - - - Sharp - - - - McG - - - - - - - - - -

Subs: Hogan, Cranie, Coutts, Dowell, Stearman, Johnson, Moore

Hogan is turning out to be a lightweight, and this is no time for shrinking violets.

Goldie will be on a high of confidence after being Ireland MOTM.

Agree with Ricky - Duff or Dowell both fine - probably start Dowell as more energy and Duff is deadly when he comes on later with a tiring defence (eg bouncing day).

Magic few weeks now - we’ve waited 10 years to be this close.

Hogan has started 3 games for us, yes, just 3 and the criticism and lack of confidence in him at this early stage of his Blades career is quite frankly pathetic.

In the games he’s started we beat Reading 4-0 where he looked very lively and should’ve scored atleast one, we won. We beat Rotherham 2-0 in a game where he looked lively again, great movement and making some great runs which weren’t spotted and Rotherham were time wasting even when they were winning, we won. We beat Brentford 2-0, don’t get me wrong he didn’t do much in this game but it was made very difficult by the Madine stupidity, Hogan isn’t a lone striker, he needed someone on with him, we won again though. Can anyone spot a theme here? Give the bloke a chance ffs!

Agreed. He looks lively but is understandably a tad rusty due to lack of game time.

I want Hogan to succeed as much as anyone but..... We brought in 2 strikers at roughly the same time. Both of whom had little game time under their belts. One immediately looked the fucking dogs bollox and the other is Hogan.

Exactly! Some think he’ll rip trees up straight away, he won’t do that after so long out. It took Coutts a season and half last time to get up to speed so I’d say Hogan is recovering very well.

I understand your concerns regarding the game time but you have to look at the pond we’re fishing in at the time, who we could’ve realistically brought in for the same money, who wasn’t playing at their club so needs game time but good enough for us? It’s not all black and white, Bill.

Washington looked a lot lot better than hogan has done in there brief matches.
I’d much rather have Washington than hogan coming on

There’s a good player in Washington

Washington does have some attributes but for me Hogan is a much better player who brings more qualities to the team than Washington.

He might be but he’s shown literally nowt yet hogan id rather have Washington
Fair enough, i think you’ll see a lot more of Hogan on Saturday so hopefully he can change your opinion and help to get us another win on the board.

Would be ridiculous to play hogan over either Sharp or didsy

It all depends on their fitness levels, what would be ridiculous is if we play McGoldrick for the 3rd time in 6 days, something he hasn’t done for ages and he ends up getting injured, missing the rest of our crucial games. Let’s use the squad if needs be.

I think Hogan has got a few goals in him for us, hes been making runs in the games he’s played but the ball hasn’t been played to him.

Is there ever a way we could accommodate Dowell and Duffy on the pitch at the same time?
I think McGoldrick is on fine form for his nation so has to start but Washington as sub makes sense if Didsy starts to tire.

In our current formation, yes if we dropped Fleck.

Good points Wiz however whilst in a perfect world it ain't black and white in the race to go up it is. I wouldn't pick Hogan or Washington but whatever Wilder does is the right call as far as I'm concerned.

Anyone got any updates from Wilder today? Locked out of twitter cos I fell for that stupid prank

True but he played in glorified training sessions against gibraltar and Georgia

Bristol is the biggest and most important game of the season and then the one after is the same
