A good friend of mine has just told me that her mum was recently cleaning out her nan's attic after she sadly passed. This was found in the attic...



Any historians amongst us know what this was about? I'm assuming it was a pre-season friendly, but why there of all places?

The result was 2-2 apparently!

It's the 7th Sunday after Easter, so it can be early or late, depending when Easter is. Not to be confused with Spring Bank Holiday which is last Monday in May.

That price truly reflects the "rumour or fact ?" tax haven status of the Isle Of Man. Two shillings and sixpence was a significant lump of money to most ordinary folk at the time.

I will be surprised if it only fetches £80. Pre 1944 wartime programmes are very difficult to find and highly collectible. Man Utd and very very collectible. I’d expect double the estimate despite the condition

My own programme. 8000 at the game but not sure why we played it there. One of only two Sheffield derbies outside of Sheffield . We didn’t win the other bugger either

It’s a beautiful old ticket but not as rare as you might expect. I have one myself and have seen at least half a dozen more over the years. One was listed on eBay last year for £50 but unfortunately didn’t sell

That's useful to know. She'll likely keep it in that case. I was just surprised about the context of the fixture. I'd say it's a shame similar things don't occur anymore!

King George v Pork

I then thought, I didn't know we were once known as King George
