Outgoing? David Brooks

It is described as a cash gift of £1.25m each. Please explain in layman’s terms why that would reduce the price by that much. That seems to be a fixed valuation. Are you saying if we go up, that £5m will increase because the equity would be worth a lot more?
You also omitted to mention that the £5m
is dependent on Prince buying the ground and other assets. Subject to the court case, of course.

Although none of this is relevant to the point I was addressing, which is why we had to sell Brooks.

Badly worded on my part. Net proceeds rather than”price”. Instead of getting £5m KMc ends up with just £3.75.

In layman’s terms, £5m - £1.25m = £3.75m. Kev is worse off.

Gift, equity, it’s a write off.

What the ground has to do with a simple arithmertical issue I have no idea. It’s stand alone point. If he gifts the money and the Prince takes over he’s£1.25m light. I’m no investment advisor but .....

Oh, I never mentioned promotion or an increase in share price. God knows where you dug that up from.

Yes, if he loses, he’s down £1.25m. That’s all you needed to say in the first place. Although anyone who can be arsed to read my link would see that. It’s a shame more posters don’t read it, understand the situation and stop banging on about ‘we should have kept him’ or ‘we didn’t get enough for him’.

Sneaky edit. You referred to the £5m and equity. As far as I’m aware, the £5m is fixed. So why confuse the issue by referring to it? As I’ve said in my previous post, all you needed to say was that if the Prince wins the court case, McCabe loses the £1.25m.

That flea in your arse is causing some issues.

I haven’t got a flea in my arse. I just posted a factual statement with a link to support it and you started replying like I was criticising McCabe.

As I said, badly worded. But surely you grasped the point that any cash gift is a write off if HRH takes over. I would have thought that would be easier to understand without the strange assumption that I was referencing promotion, increase in share value or the ground?

Why is my edit sneaky? I didn't hide it in another thread?

Because you did it whilst I was replying, meaning I had to reply again.

Your interpretation. I did say l wasn't making any accusations a couple of posts on, but you were already on one by then.

Glad to hear you got it out.

Because I didn’t know you’d done it until I replied. It was supposed to be a light hearted comment, not an accusation of a heinous crime.

Let’s start again.

McCabe would be worse off by £1.25m if he made a cash gift and the Prince takes control. Plus, this does not affect any share price, agreed or disputed, now or in the future.

You never, to the best of my knowledge had, or have ever had, a flea up your arse.

Okay now?

How do you know what is the most Bournemouth would pay?

Quite.

And the club didn't exactly play hardball on the sale. Sold him on 1 July with virtually 2 months of the transfer window remaining, rather than letting it slide for a while to ascertain (a) how desperately Bournemouth wanted him and, therefore, how high they may be prepared to go, and (b) whether there were any other suitors waiting in the wings.

It's almost as if the club couldn't wait to grab the bit of money as soon as it was on the table. It was ever thus.

Absolute shocker.

The fee we got for him was pathetic, as is usually the case with our young talent. Didn't take a genius to see the incredible ability and potential he had, he will go on to play for a top European team.
And yet out of all those professionals, paid to act (not speculate on the Internet), only Bournemouth offered £13,000,000.

Unless I’ve misread it, KM wanted to loan the club money and the Prince was prepared to put it in as equity. KM wasn’t.

Yes the Prince said he would put money in rather than loan it but I think this was just the Prince and his advisors trying to manoeuvre things to gain an advantage in the litigation. The Brooks sale only happened just before the hearing in June(?) and the judge said that because those funds were available the club did not need more working capital to see it through the season.

This is a fascinating read. Seriously complex stuff with neither side really coming out of it well. Not least the Prince's people, who reckon that spending in the transfer window is entirely discretionary and, seemingly, not necessary. Try telling that to everyone else involved in the club, particularly Wilder.

Don't be surprised if a major European club comes in and steals him from the EPL.

I’d be very surprised. As the only European clubs that are worth going to and could outbid an EPL team in fee & wages are PSG, Real and Barca, and DB won’t be going to any of those three clubs as long as I have a hole in my arse.

Maybe the Bundesliga isn't an attraction.

It’s a good league, and I’m sure he’d do well there, but no Bundesliga team would ‘steal’ him. He’s in the 1st year of his contract, worth £40m (quotes) and will soon be on £50k a week. German teams usually take young British players on frees or for small sums, not at £40m, not even at £20m. At those figures, EPL sides have first dibs. Bayern are the only club who could compete, and I doubt they’d be interested. They’ve just spent £30m on Pavard, they’re not daft enough to do £40m on DB.

Wilder is hardly a spring chicken and during his career he’s NEVER managed a foreign player.
He has no reputation as a player, so won’t command instant respect as he’s unknown in the UK, never mind abroad.
There’s zero chance that evens a small foreign club will want him to manage their club.

History suggest he won’t even get an offer from a PL club.
Has any PL in recent times took a risk by appointing an unknown talented manager from the lower leagues with hardly any experience of higher league football? Can’t think of anyone.

If Warnock couldn’t get any offers from PL clubs with his cv, then Wilder doesn’t stand a chance.
His cv is terrible relative to PL, so would be a big risk. Of course personally I think CW is special and might prove to be one of the best managers in the game. Even Bielsa is quoted as saying he could learn from Wilder and really rates him for his new original ideas.

Think he was talking about David Brooks pal. Not Chris wilder

Sorry about that. Agree the recent trend is that German clubs are playing young British talent.

On Talksport radio the other day Nixon was being interviewed.
He said that Spurs and Bournmouth were the clubs originally interested when he was at Sheff Utd but Spurs backed out of pushing the price up because they had concerns about his glandular fever and how he wasn’t playing that often for us.

So Bournmouth took the gamble and it’s paid off. Nixon said that Brooks is now one of the hottest young prospects in the game.

He said he knows for a fact that Spurs and now Man Utd are seriously interested.
He said he wouldn’t be surprised if one of these clubs come in with a surprise mega-bid this January window.
The fear is in a few years he might be worth over 100 million, so paying 30 million now would look a bargain
And Bournmouth will have more than doubled their money inside 1 year.

Nixon said that Brooks is a Man Utd fan so would be keen on a move to his boyhood club.

£30m? Meh.

Eddie, tell them to fk off

:)

Lets up the weight of his ever increasing wallet gives him the physical strength he'll require to be a top class player.

He's currently as weak as a Carling lager-top.

He was voted Football Association of Wales Player of the Year and Young Player of the Year on Thursday. The first time that has ever happened. Ever.

We should never of sold him to be honest, especially not for the pennies that we did. We'd be promoted already if we could've called on him for cameo appearances. :D

*Edit: I think it says more about the lack of welsh talent than owt else. ;)

He's also the favourite to win young player of the year in the premier league.
