Maddison from Norwich fee agreed for 20 million, and considering that Maddison scored 15 goals last season in 49 games plus numerous assists and is still only 21 then as a comparison we should maybe consider 15m good business for a still unproven Brooks - as good as he is.

Personally hope Brooks stays, because I would say he could replicate Maddisons last season if he stays and then he will be worth 20m. Its just whether we need the Brooks money now to strengthen the team, or whether we can still do that to the same quality with Brooks staying.

Reports in todays rag that both Spurs and Man U are chasing Brooks. Big admirers, with Man U apparently drooling over him

As a consequence Bournemouth are to award him with a big pay rise in an attempt to keep him happy

Both clubs likely to make a move in the summer

Fee mentioned is £40m

Sell on fee ........................come to daddy :)

I don’t know the sell on clause we’ve got but it should be 20% minimum!

I'd rather they waited a bit longer. Then 40 million may well seem cheap. Depending on our sell on clauses, Bournemouth may not be interested at 40 million anyway. If its 25% of any profit (it was trumpeted that we had a large sell on percentage), then Bounemouth would only get just over 20 million profit on their 11.5 million initial investment. Peanuts in premier league terms. We would get just over 7 million. If it was less than 25%...

I can't see Brooks showing any loyalty to Bournemouth, I think he'll be off if one of the big boys are in for him. Hopefully that means more cash for the Blades

If he goes for £40m I would assume at a very minimum we would receive at least £5m (likely more) of that meaning the total value of his sale would be worth about £20m+ to us.

Like it or not that's a decent deal for us. The money from his sale went towards bringing in Egan and keeping oconell. We haven't exactly struggled to score without him and our defence is now much stronger than last season.

£20m+ for brooks isn't exactly the steal of the century.

Brooks wanted to leave. Wilder wanted some money for transfers. We're 2nd in the league. Its wIts worked out alright so far.

GLTTL

Or we should have either kept him (which I accept was unlikely) or got a real fee for him. Ross McCormack went for £12m ffs
Whilst he stopped trying after that move McCormack was probably the most consistent championship striker that money could buy at the time. Brooks played half a season. Not really a fair barometer.

In addition to providing Wilder with funds to bring in the likes of Egan etc. And retain the likes of O’Connell, It was essential to provide funds to cash flow the club. We lose £6 million a year and the owners were no longer prepared to cash flow it until ownership issue resolved.

Just sounds like his agent trying to get him a pay rise to me. I suppose I shouldn't really be surprised in brexit Britain that so many people take what they read in newspapers as gospel

The reporter Alan Nixon was on Talksport radio earlier this morning.

He said that everyone at Bournmouth have been impressed and surprised at how good Brooks is.
Say he’s looked so comfortable at PL level and must now be the hottest British young talent in the game.

He said Spurs were interested last season but as he wasn’t even a regular at Sheff Utd they weren’t prepared to take the risk.
Also they knew he’s had glandular fever and weren’t sure what he’d be like after his health problems, so were prepared to wait.
So Bournmouth took the gamble paying 12 million which looked a huge amount at the time for a player that wasn’t a 1st team regular at a Champinship club. Nixon said it now looks like great business by Bournmouth saying PL football seems to suit him more than Championship football as it’s less physical so he gets more time on the ball. Also said Bournmouths attacking style is bringing the best out of Brooks.

Nixon said that he knows that Man Utd and Spurs are currently seriously interested and instead of waiting for him to get better.
He thinks one of them will blink and sneak in to buy him this January transfer window.

If the inevitable big money move can't even wait until the end of the season that really will be a piss take.

OK, but dutch auctions are the opposite. In a dutch flower market .... whence came the term, there is a big clock on the wall above the goods to be sold.

It's not a time clock it has one hand and the dial is marked in money. The hand starts at the top pointing to say, 1000 euros, when the auction starts, the hand turns clockwise DOWN through the prices. The first one to bid wins.

It's a question of keeping your cool so that you can get the lowest price.

So if you let the clock go round halfway you get the flowers for 500 euros, wait a bit longer and you buy them for 400 etc.

its about who blinks first.

this auction system used to be illegal in England.

It was 4 or 5 years ago though. Transfer fees have gone through the roof. And Brooks was sold to a Prem team. I understand your argument but potential is worth so much in this market - we definitely were at the very bottom end of what we should have gotten

Rashford, Alexander-Arnold, Foden, Hudson-Odoi, Loftus-Cheek, Wan-Bissaka, Rice, Abraham, Sancho, Nelson and Mount (off the top of my head) might disagree.

I don't know why fans get excited about recieving transfer fees or sell on bonuses. It never seems to go back in for significant recruitment.

But don't you dare suggest we sold him too early, they don't like that on here...

A masterclass so far vs Everton - although he should've scored when well placed. My tip last season that he would paly for a top European club, looks well placed. You can see the fifty pound notes piling up every time he gets the ball.

Do you think the signings of Egan and Norwood were funded via money down the back of the sofa, or do you think the Brooks sale might have something to do with it?
