I have no idea why Brooksy would want to go to Bournemouth or how they could afford to buy him ??!! o_O

UTB & FTP

Bournemouth might not be Brooksy's first choice of club, but being in the Premier League most certainly will be

£150m per annum for being in the Premier League suggests Bournemouth can afford him

DCL springs to mind for half match nobody's who win . If we had a bit more patience. ..

We'll in todays market 10 mill would probably get you, Gary madine +his wages + agent fees/ signing on fees. Maybe at best a spare million.
Would I swap brooks for madine? No.
Have to be alot more then 10 mill to consider it imo.

MADine will be surplus to requirements and that £6m purchase was just crazy and they didn't even need him. I would expect him to be worth a lot less than that.

Worth a cheeky £1.37p bid perhaps ?

Would anyone swap Brooks for Grabban and Norwood plus, say, £5m cash ?

Grabban is almost certainly going to be out of Bournemouth next season, either permanently or on loan....he's a bit like a Snodgrass/Nugent/McCormack type....very good at Championship level but can't cut it in the Prem.....Villa might go for him if the lose the Play-Offs otherwise I reckon a loan is a realistic possibility....and if DB36 has gone in the opposite direction, quite probable.

Eh? Unless I'm missing something obvious, how are Bournemouth going to sell Norwood when he plays for Brighton?

Regardless, Grabban is on ~£30/week - do you think Utd are going to pay him (or anyone else, Scott Hogan being the latest humorous suggestion!) more than double what anyone else at the club is on?

Why would we give up on Brooks for a more costly, if slightly younger version of Clarke and some money that wouldn't be enough to make a massive difference.

I know Brooks is unproven but I also know Grabban isn't good enough for the top league so why am I even entertaining that swap???

Brooks comes back from glandular fever and in only a handful of appearances doesn't quite show the same form as before, and many of our fans want him sold.

So predictable.
Bizarre isn't it, FB is full of Blades fans wanting him sold. Anyone who knows anything about glandular fever knows it takes a long time to get back to 100%.

Don't understand our fanbase. They actually seem to think that Wilder would get a big cut of the money to reinvest if Brooks was sold.

Poster on BM reckons Brooks will not be sold unless either the player himself wants to leave or CW wants to sell. Apparently CW is in control of player sales and he wants to keep Brooks. The ones to be sold are the ones CW has told can go

If true that's good because it probably tells us that the transfer budget is reasonable without having to move players on to raise funds

It's good, but as soon as there is a big offer from the PL .....fill in the rest.

I dont want him sold, my preferred option is that he becomes our greatest ever player, and helps us to Champions League glory.
However,........

I would sell Brooks, but only on loan and only if we didn't buy.

Or sell.

Poster on BM has obviously listened to Wilder's interview then as he said that nobody would be sold unless there is an offer that he can't turn down.

This!

If we benefitted from getting 10m from Brooks in order to buy 2/3 decent players, then I'd all be for it.

Yeah he's a talent, but aside from 1/2 games, he's not shown anything really and loses the ball more than retains it.

You CANNOT build a side around a player that is unproven! That's just suicidal!

I remember a certain Jordan Slew, fans were apoplectic at selling him. Remember him being the initial reason for 'x will tear you apart again'.

What's he doing now?

I disagree Scooter.

Potentially we could sell him, sign 3 or 4 quality players and go up. Alternatively, we could sign 3 or 4 flops, while we watch Brooks become the next Walker or Jagielka.

Wilder's record in the transfer market has been impressive, so I'd have more faith in him spending the money well (unlike previous managers), but even Wilder has made mistakes so it's realistic to expect we'd inevitably waste a percentage of the sale.
We'd likely replace him with someone like Maddison, who is no more of a known quantity in this division than Brooks and doesn't have anywhere near the same potential.

And the point you make about Slew I feel is flawed. Great, we made £1m for selling a player before we got to see his true potential, and we won - he never got there. But what about Kyle Walker? We got around £2m for someone who was worth 10X that a couple of seasons later and 25X that today.

Brooks may never make it to that level, but if he does, it would be nice to say we got to see him for a few seasons and remember his contributions - Unlike walker, who we sold after a mere 5 appearances.

It's a crossroads for sure.

Fortunately it sounds like Wilder doesn't have to sell and has the funds to invest (as well as a few saleable assets that will contribute to the kitty).

This mornings rag says Bournemouth have now bid £12m for Brooksy

If that is true then this will test the resolve of not only the board but CW

Lot of money. If CW is in charge of in and outs then this is his first big test. Every player has his price. What is Brooks's price?

Sounds like you think £12m is ok B58 ?
I'd probably take £15m plus add ons and a hefty sell on clause, and try to get a loan back. Not sure they'd want to loan him back though.

Moments of brilliance but easily bullied off the ball. He didnt really get enough game time to warrant much more than 10 million when you compare him to the likes of Grealish and Maddison who are similar in age and position in the league but played key roles for their teams

To be fair, Brooks is younger than those two players

Yeah it's a shame that he got ill when he did because as you say we saw some very special moments early last season. In truth he just never looked the same player when he came back.

Hopefully a pre season will sort him out and he stays with us as a regular starter. If that happens he can only get better and we might be entertaining offers nearer to £20 million next summer, which is not unlikely in this market.
