Heyup Kenty, great to here from you, I hope you and yours are keeping well mate.

Yes I’m still in Chesterfield. I’m officially retired now but I still keep my hand in helping out the elderly locals that I used to look after. I think most of them would stop using their computers if I wasn’t around for them, but I don’t do call outs. Just a bit of IT help online like I did with you or over the phone for free, it keeps the old brain active.

Because of the advanced age of the people that I stayed in contact with, for obvious reasons I’m gradually getting less and less calls for help, and so sadly I would envisage they’ll come a time it’ll stop altogether, but I suppose it’s been a good way to wind down my working career.

Anyway all the best mate and regards to your good lady.

Goods to hear all is well with you and yours.
Still fighting the health problem but still have good quality of life and go to the London area games but only a very limited number at the Lane because it is at least a 12 hour trip.
Your computer guidance was invaluable but seem to be able to keep on top these days.

I have a gut feeling we might make it this season but am keeping my thoughts to my self as it is a long season.
Another striker in January might be the final link.

Shows how young you are or how old I am if you did not see the great Jimmy Hagan.
Modern technology keeps us in close contact with the club and can watch most of the games live via various methods.

Take care and best wishes

Patrick

Doesnt look like Norman Burtenshaw to me?

Here is the goal by Paul Madeley that knocked us out

My first away trip outside Sheffield - my mum made me wear a jacket and tie!
Stood on open kop - now their end. Munks hit the woodwork twice if my memory serves me right, as we were robbed once more!

I read somewhere that it was Addison who in the 2nd half had a shot that hit the bar?

Right Silent, I'm gonna test you now.

Yes, yes, yes, yes and yes (attendance was 32,867).

I knew Asa Hartford (to the right), but if you know the other two, that's impressive.

The 0-0 draw ended a four match winning run from the start of the season, but after WBA we went on to win the next three....and managed W 8 D 2 L 0 from the first ten. We all know what happened next.

Next..name the referee!!

Mick Miller ? Not roger Kirkpatrick is it ?

Great guesses but not right.

It's Iowarth Jones. Obvs :)

1974-75. West Ham 1 Sheff United 2. 7th September 1974.

Woodward and Dearden.

MoM: Billy Jennings (West Ham) on his debut after signing from Watford (£110, 000).

I was at the match. Woody's goal defied science. A 25 yarder against a galeforce wind! Dont remember the ref

There's a poster on another thread Silent who I'm currently arguing with. He reckons shots from distance are a waste of time and that memories of Woody are flawed. Here's his take on it. I just have to smile.

Pot shots from distance are a waste of possession, we just remember the 1 in 100 that goes in because they look good. And just because you got a good end result, it doesn't justify a poor decision.
