I always think Duffy is more of a poor mans David Silva, he could do a job for us.
He could. Especially as it would only be now and again.

No opinions offered. Petty argument pursued.
Full Thornton mode engaged.
I gave you my opinion earlier. You started crying.
Looks like I might have to write the S24SU definition for 'crying' as well then...
I'm sure you've gone as far as you're willing to go in terms of opinion - even if it did only amount to "you don't always get what you want". But it would be mightily impressive if you could muster any suggestion about recruitment in that position. You've found a way to try and make my logical suggestion sound stupid, so let's have your own.
I don'tI like the look of that Ricky Holmes fella, he could do a job for us when Duffy needs a rest.
Shut up mardy arse. Do the Manset shuffle with your latest list of discoveries and then have a sit down and consider what's been said.
In the real world Wilder has more to deal with than a list of stats. Finance being one of them obviously which limits his options player wise. It's not your comments of Duffy fading in the second half of the season but your claims that there are plenty of players out there who could replace him on a temporary basis. I suggest Wilder thought Woodburn could do it, it's not working on the short playing time he's had but yet again, you have the answer. Despite the glaringly obvious drawbacks highlighted plus the real world issues the manager has to consider. Like not worrying about Ryan Leonard ripping us a new one or having spineless squad.
Woodburn featured prominently on the lists of one poster before we signed him. Being mentioned on several threads.
Absolutely bang on..... the response I expected. Your absolute maximum. Complete with the usual wrong assumptions and irrelevant bollocks.
Nothing to see here, as ever.
He was an obvious one. No one's blaming Wilder for signing him. I'm sure he expected more. Wilder had the right idea but so far it looks like he backed the wrong horse. It's a bit unlucky.
I did think anyone was going take my statement seriously? Just trying to stress(in a humorous way) how underwhelming Woodburns start at the club has been. But now you mention it.......Every top club in the Prem will be taking notice of Brooks progress at Bournemouth..........including Liverpool.
If you haven't got a meaningful reply.......
You suggested we shield Duffyvto prevent burn out. That we get someone - let's forget money for the moment - to play in his role. When it's pointed out that replacing him with someone equally as good won't be easy, let alone affordable, you switch to saying the player doesn't need to be as good. We've got players like that already!
You pushed Woodburn strongly in the summer btw. Not just Wilder who could have got that wrong but now you have another list. That's what you can't grasp. It's not just a case of listing players. There are many other things to consider and be realistic about.
Every last thing you mention, is something I've already considered, and 'grasped'. And I didn't switch to saying anything.
A player might not be as good as Duffy in his role, but he might be an improvement on what we've got up front, maybe also a wide option, and one who'll develop into a valuable player. There's plenty like this to consider.
"If we had a proper backup for him who doesn't significantly change or weaken us, we'd have a better chance of seeing Duffy perform at a similar high level all season."
You think a replacement would have to be every bit as good to not 'significantly change or weaken' us?
Callum Robinson?Every last thing you mention, is something I've already considered, and 'grasped'. And I didn't switch to saying anything.

Is he injured or have we sent him back?
.No point just spunkin moneh on anyone.
Duffy is magic looking back he has had many guys turn up and try and fill his boots and none have come close Carruthers, Holmes, and now Woodburn who has potential and we are still waiting to see it consistently but Duffy is still the only player who can play that role.
More interestingly how Woodburn gets the call from Ryan Giggs and Freeman doesn't is beyond me
Woodburn played for Liverpool u23s yesterday just to get some playing time...thought that's the reason we signed him !
