So back in league action again this afternoon with the trip to Bolton. Points wise they've started very well, but I get the impression their performances haven't been scintillating. But it's a results business and I'd certainly be happy to swap our haul for theirs so far....still very early in the season but if we 'hope' to be any more than a midtable side this season, these are the games we need to winning. Unless Bolton are going to be the surprise team of the season that is....

Anyway

Any team news? :)

Same starting line up as per Norwich?

Duffy on the bench?

Clarke gets the nod again?

Really don't know which way to call this one. Bolton are workman-like and won't let us settle into the style we enjoy. I think both teams will score, and more in optimism than expectation I'll go for 2-1 Blades win....

Safe journey all

No drinking in Chorley today remember :)

It is the Bolton Food and Drink festival for those wanting to make a weekend of it, with Ainsley Harriott giving a cooking demonstration in Bolton Town centre for those who are interested!

On Yesterdays interview CW refered to our 3 at the back when Stearman plays as "3 stoppers" so I'd expect that again today.
They aren't the cloggers we usually describe them as anymore with players like Oztumer coming in but I still think Bash might start a holding role again.
Failing that Leonard could come back in and toughen us up a bit in the middle while not having to drop as deep. I'd prefer to see that today because Norwood drops deep for the ball as it is but is.
Sharp is undroppable right now so it has to be him and Clarke, so I wouldn't be suprised if Woodburm and Duffy both have to make do with the bench.

If we lose, I smell a meltdown coming.

Difficult game today, Bolton’s strengths (set pieces, direct football) have been our weaknesses so far.

I'm afraid you've made a mistake with your title, mate. We're not playing 'Bolton' today, everyone knows it's Notlob. To my mind, there's no such place or team as 'Bolton' but correct me if I'm wrong.

I think CW will start Stearman and move Bash into midfield to give us some extra height vs their hoof ball. Something like this.

Is it pay on the day for Blades fans? If not, why not? We didn't sell our allocation so there must be some spare ones?

We'll do well to get a point today. They've had a great start to the season.

How many tickets have we sold? Have we been given any of the lower tier?

We'll do well to get a point today. They've had a great start to the season.

I think we'll get at least a point. They were lucky to beat Birmingham on Wednesday and won't win 2 in a row.

We should be winning but we're good at conceding goals from nothing so a lump into the box could easily get them a goal at any point. And Ameobi's a major threat if he plays.

1-1 or 1-2 today for me.

I hope Leonard gets a chance in midfield - it's surely now or never.

How many tickets have we sold? Have we been given any of the lower tier?

We were allocated 2,103 tickets and according to the ticket update issued on the 21st August we'd sold approximately 1500. Bearing in mind that 21st August was Tuesday, it's feasible we may have sold a good few of the remaining 600 tickets since then. But they were still on sale yesterday until 11am and I'm pretty sure they've not all gone. However, it's too late to buy them from SUFC now. I phoned Bolton to ask if it's pay on the day and they said no.

Good job I registered as a Bolton supporter on their website ages ago then! ;)

If we should worry about them and play players to counter their style I presume they are also worrying about us and changing their style to counter us, in other words we bring in big lads and look like them while they bring in footballers and look like us, simple. Why don't we just play our usual game and play football but at the same time be aware of there threat at corners and free kicks, if a footballing premier club were playing them in the cup thats what they would do, play to there strengths .

I think Stearman will come back in and Bash be moved to midfield,

I hope Egan is as good in the air as he was against Norwich as he will get plenty of practice today.

I know the trains have fucked things up, and the ticket prices are too high, but I thought we'd have managed at least 3,000. It's not a hard one to get to. Maybe people are just sick of going to Bolton. But I do think it reflects that the excitement has no dried up. We're just back where we belong aren't we...

Egan is going to show why we paid what we did for him today.

I’d be surprised if it isn’t this

Well that last line has cheered me up

They've just won two in a row!

we haven’t been getting results recently that’s all.. at some point the touch paper will be lit.. hopefully today

I meant 2 home games.... obviously!

A side like them will rarely win back to back games. They were lucky to on Wednesday so 3 would really be pushing it.

I'd never fancy our chances of 6 points from 2 home games in the space of 4 days.

We're better rested, and can really out work them. Norwood has had more time to fit in and should keep on getting better and better, Duffy is back and available, Egan should be feeling much more confident. All in all there is a lot of reasons to be cheerful heading into this one. I think we'll just have enough to run out winners. 2-1, goals from a Norwood free kick and one from Leon.

Outside of the good start by both teams. Bolton under wilder are a bogey side the only comfortable winning performance ive known under 3 years was the home game in league 1. Because other 4, 1st game we dominated but lost. Lost in fa cup, lost in december at home. Beat them midweek but it was hard working performance

Score draw. They've had a great start and we're unable to keep a clean sheet. 1-1 would do nicely for me, makes us unbeaten in 3 going into the tough home game against Villa next week.

Probably some truth in this, last Autumn a fair few thought we were going to bounce back to back promotions.

I go with a draw as well.

Would be happy with that apart from it meaning the pigs will go above us as they have the truly dreadful Ipswich today

If we want to win we’ll need to score at least 2, we’ve stopped doing clean sheets. Think Forest home was last one, was Ipswich away last away one last year?

Not confident today personally. They’ve had a good start, we’ve been mixed. I haven’t seen them play mind. Settling into the game early doors is crucial but as they played midweek, going at them from the off might be of benefit.

The defence will come together as time goes on. The keeper is more than capable of mopping up any slight errors. The midfield is among the best I’ve seen.

It’s just the top end that worries me. They’re capable, but we don’t have back up should they become injured or tired.

Mi think he will go with that, and understandable. I know Woodburn hasn’t been great yet but I do think our shape looks much better when we have a number 10. Just allows us to link midfield to attack much better. I agree this will be the team though.

Well there is a meltdown on here at least once a week about something, so this week should be no different. ;)
