Incoming? Sam Gallagher

Seems to me we're in some sort of love triangle here!

We want Southampton's Sam Gallagher. Problem is Southampton are after a replacement before he goes with Aston Villa's Keinan Davis apparently one of their main targets. If Southampton sign Davis that means Villa can afford Sam Gallagher who is their main striker target this summer!

So in essence we're waiting for Southampton to sign a forward but if that's Davis then that could mean Villa can afford Gallagher! As for Hogan we can't get him until Villa know that they're not losing Davis!

Ultimately I'm starting to think we won't get Gallagher but might get Hogan. All total guesswork of course!

Never !!!!!
I'm not having that

"A Football club wants to ensure that a replacement is signed before letting a player go"

Surely not,

He'll sign for a proper Championship club in 10 minutes if the money is right.

Finally. Someone who is ITK.

Can you disclose what exactly our budget is? How much hogan and sam g take out of it and why they are our only plan we have in place?

Don't need to disclose exactly how much the budget is its out there in the public domain as disclosed by Downes QC. Hogan is on £35k a week and Gallagher £24k a week. Wages will be subsidised in part by their clubs but there is no way these players will be allowed to come to us for anything less than 50% of wages. Its likely to be more. Add on additional loan fees and bonuses and we are looking at something in the region of £2-3 million for these two players for the season. For two players who had poor seasons last year I question whether we will get value for money. Never said these two were the only plan just suggested it was time to move onto plan B.

Far too much money for us
Maybe a Championship club will sign them
Maybe they'll stay where they are and their clubs find a way to get the best out of them

Maybe pig fans will go back to their own forum (Neil's a good lad, and he tries his best with that forum, why not give him some support?)

Reminds me of the Doctor from Bladesmad days. Seems to have crawled out of his sewer again.

That's the end of that then.

Always likely to happen when you fuck around for weeks on end.

I partly agree but if Southampton were holding out for a permanent move from the off then it was dead in the water to start with.
Which is very similar to what I think Villa want to do with Hogan.

On the other hand, shouldn't we have known that already before wasting our time putting loan offers on the table for weeks on end.

This is why Waghorn is the likely signing. I get the feeling he actually wants to play for us as we are a bigger club than where he is and it's a step up career wise.

Gallagher and Hogan are at bigger clubs and earning more than we can pay them so why would they be pushimg for a move to us ?

How many loan offers did we make then?

I just don't see many likely alternatives to him. That we're looking at Winnall says it all - he's injured till October.

We've had our chance with Gallagher, far more of a chance than we could have expected, and I'm sure there was a loan deal to be done but we haven't done it, presumably because..... wages.

If it wasn't for that stupid contract Southampton put him on he'd be here already.

But I don't think we were wrong to try with Gallagher, it's the Hogan pursuit that baffles me.

I consider us bigger than Southampton but not in the same league admittedly. Villa is a different case but I think he would come to us if both clubs could agree, which I doubt we can.

Oh right, thanks.
Look, I wake up every morning and check this forum before I turn over to see if my wife is still there. Nobody wants quality signings more than I do but nothings been "greened" and nothing has been confirmed. If you want to just talk in FACTS this forum would be dead. You've two way of finding out the truth, purely getting news from the official website (ie when a player is finally holding a scalf infront of the kop) or become Wilders brother in law.
We are fans, I can only guess like the rest of you. I'm not being negative for the sake of it, I'm a glass half full guy but of something seems to be going wrong or at least not going to plan I will mention it.
I really think "how do you know!?" Is a bit of a pointless stance on a football message board.

I’ve also read that Mark Hughes wanted to have a look at him and is in no rush to part with him. Not a great deal we can do about that is there?

I'm not sure we were ever after Winnall. I suspect the approach for João got mistaken as one for Winnall. Either way, we backed off once the ridiculous wages came to light.

You may consider us bigger and I may do....but we aren't...either in terms of honours won or time spent in the top league over the last 20-30 years

Southampton quoted £7 million for Gallagher last year. To protect their investment they've given him a big increase in wages. Once we knew that we should have stepped away as there was always the risk someone was going to come in and meet the asking price. We may not feel he's worth that but if Liverpool can trouser £10 million for a third choice goalkeeper whose only played 2 games for them then who knows what the asking price is for a player these days.

Or you can give opinions on the stuff that has actually happened or been said. Predictions and guesses are one thing. Making stuff up and putting it across as fact to suit a point you're trying to push is another.

He’s not that good anyway
On loan at an expensively assembled Birmingham where he made 23 starts and 10 sub appearances scoring 6 goals:
1. 6 yard tap in from the keeper's spill.
2. Ball played forward gallagher fails to control or even touch it, ball holds up Gallagher gets soft shot in, defender blocks Gallagher finishes at 2nd time of asking.
3. Played in, nice finish lifting it over the keeper from 15 yards.
4. Nice cut back, quality finish from 6 yards.
5. Defensive mistake Gallagher played in knocks ball into open goal from 15 yards.
6. Played across knocked it in from 6 yards.
Gallagher is wank but my Youtube scouting wasn't in vain Maghoma looks quality in Gallagher's highlights!

Football has been around for a lot longer than 20-30 years. We are far bigger than Soton. No contest. We’re massive.

We've got equal if not greater potential in my view. If we get back to the PL and can stay there for a few seasons we'll push 40,000 with an increased Lane. Southampton might say similar but they're ground is a crap soulless bowl and their fans are no where near as good as their nearest Pompey.
