So not worried at all that the team are out on the lash? They are athletes and are supposed to be on pre-season training working up to peak match fitness, not on holiday. How many other top level teams do you think would be out on the beers on their pre-season tour? Smacks of being very amateur. Think this is where Wilder shows he is a bit too old school and trying to hard to be one of the lads rather than a top level manager. Yes I know team bonding blah blah, but seriously this is surely not the best way to prepare for the season, fighting or not.
Does Wilder even know? Him and Knill weren't out.
And if he does I doubt it's something he's going to spout about on radio sheffield.
Fact- in a group of blokes, some will get on, some will be best mates, some will hate others, some will tolerate!
When there’s a bit of booze in there, the tolerate and get on options are removed.
Leaving mates and those they hate. And it’s when things get ugly.
It’s the same at every club/workplace in the land.
The next day, the adults get their heads together, agree to disagree, remain professional and carry on as that’s their job.
The kids carry it on, affect the job of themselves and others and are eventually sacked/moved on to be someone else’s problem.
But it’s always sorted one way or the other.

Really? They got the beers in during the season, prior to us going on a brilliant run that ultimately saw us absolutely dominate League 1.
There's a difference between a few beers on the coach to bond a team that was clearly at a low ebb, and going out and getting slaughtered though. And with hindsight, that side was so far above the rest of the division it as almost unfair. We are swimming in a different pond now, and there is a massive body of evidence to support the conclusion that alcohol limits the capacity of elite athletes. I'm not jumping to any conclusions over how much has been imbibed by Blades players during pre-season by the way, but it's not unreasonable to be concerned that a manager such as Wilder, love him as I do, might turn too much of a blind eye to something like this.Really? Some people are absolutely frothing at the mouth to push this hot take that Wilder is promoting a heavy drinking culture within the club.

So we can't match the "going rate" at the top end.Because that's the reason we keep getting from the press. 'Wages are high' 'wages are a stumbling block' 'doesn't fit within the wage budget'.
The reasons listed are much more boring than making a quip at our inability to spend what is the going rate if you ask me.
If we're only, as suggested, having 4 strikers, then I think signing him could potentially be a dangerous gamble. If he's coming in as an extra striker, for a season, then great. He's much better than anyone bar Sharp and Clarke.
One of our strikers needs to be younger and on a permanent though. If not, we'll be in trouble next pre-season. We can't be in a portion bext season having to replace 4 strikers and 2 attacking midfielders.
Agree on the youth - even without mcgoldrick we are at the point where in the next few of years you’d imagine
Sharp, Clarke, Duffy, Holmes will all need to be replaced with younger models. That’s basically all our current first team forward line on the books....
Be nice to have a succession plan in place and some young blood brought in to freshen things up. That said I’be no issues at all taking mcgoldrick on a cheap deal to see how he gets on - decent when fit imo.
And what does Wilder say, you know, the one who knows the budget he has to work with and will identify and go for the targets? Oh yeah, that hes happy with the budget. So we go for a player wilder likes, wilder decides his wages do not offer value for money so he moves on to other targets, but this apparently is not good enough for you and he should pay the quoted, just because you think he is the one and only saviour and without him we will surely be relegated. Give over. Such sandy vagina drama queens honestly. You and Topplayersleave should go for a drink somewhere together, preferably without internet access.
Yes, we should all shut up and clap like a demented seal as our boardroom deliver failure after failure.
Then when a good manager comes along every 15 years or so and delivers a spark of something to hang onto against all the odds, we should all clap some more as the boardroom makes a complete and utter fuck up of it all

Even if we spent the entire £12m Brooks fee on the players we needed we wouldn't be able to look anywhere but the damaged goods shelf. You don't get proven Championship players on that budget.
Hogan, Gallagher are both on that damaged shelf, its the best we can possibly hope for, so why some are setting their expectations higher I don't know.
The thing is though my initial impression is that I don’t think he is an improvement on Donaldson, especially regards his fitness issues and recent goalscoring stats. I’ve not checked but I reckon Donaldson’s goalscoring stats in the last few seasons are better than McGoldricks and Donaldson is older?McGoldrick is an improvement on Donaldson, Ched, Hanson, Wilson and Lavery. I'd take him if fit.

I’ll always give players a chance once they grace our turf but if we want to show any sort of ambition whatsoever then there must be better options out there?
Having thought about this for a bit I reckon we should wait and see how his fitness bares up first though, as you quite rightly point out, before we think he could be any improvement on what’s gone before us because for me, as it stands, he isn’t much of an upgrade on Donaldson, if any at all but it looks like I’m in a minority on this one.![]()
Ive got to agree with you sausage, the last 2 years, abject failure. Getting to the premier league, abject failure, semi final at wembley, one of the best day's out ever, abject failure.
Deary me.
Can’t argue with that other than I thought he’d been released? The fact it’s a loan makes me think that McGoldrick maybe isn’t in the top 4 or 5 targets. If most targets become unreachable by the end of the week maybe we have someone we’ve had a free look at
I get your frustration but ultimately we're at a crossroads with the ownership and if you're expecting United to spend millions then I think you're supporting the wrong club. Many a club have spent much more than us and still achieved very little. I prefer to cherish our current squad and look forward to more players who Wilder will have signed for all the right reasons.
We got promoted to the premier League 12 years ago, due to hard work, endeavour, hoof ball, lack of talent but extreme hard graft and a manager that succeeded in spite of the boardrooms small time shit. But we didn't stay there mainly because we spent on the entire team the same as struggling Premier League clubs were spending on one player.
Semi Final was a good day out if that's what you considered it to be...………..Typical Unitedite.
I on the other hand was gutted we lost, I'm sure I'm in the minority because it was a greaayyyyttt dahhy aahhht ........ but hey ho.
These are things I take for granted and even demand from a football club in the fourth largest city in the Country.
And I demand them often, not once in a blue moon.
There is no other football club from a city the size of Sheffield ANYWHERE IN WORLD FOOTBALL that has given it's fans so little in return. NOT ONE SINGLE MAJOR CITY FOOTBALL CLUB ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD...……….Now just think about that.
Even if we hadn't won anything a reasonable continued stay in Englands top division for longer than two minutes would at least be something...….But No
There is a very definite recurring theme here and if you stopped to think about it for a minute instead of blindly slagging off anyone who realises what the recurring theme is you might actually learn just how shit the people that have run this football club for the last million years have been.
