Really can't srs that. I think all 3 would need to play close to 40 games to get those returns. We can't realistcareal play all 3 together
If we got 2 first choice strikers + DM that'd be a great set of strikers we'd have.I'd be happy with McGoldrick. Had a good season with Ipswich and looked good at the Lane.
There are some doubts there about fitness, but that's what the trial is for. If we go for him, I'm sure he will be given an appropriate contract like Donaldson was, should it not work out.

He's better than Donaldson - but he hasn't scored more than 7 goals in the championship since 2014... Not exactly solving our goalscoring problem.
I have a feeling some will peddle the hilarious 'wage' thing all season. Its like our wage structure is coming as a surprise this season.I have, but I'm extremely doubtful we'll sign them because... wages.

Exactly. The same people know our budget and transfer dealings as well don't you know. The very same wage structure that nobody on here has any idea about.
Why are we after players that we know have wages beyond our reach then?I have a feeling some will peddle the hilarious 'wage' thing all season. Its like our wage structure is coming as a surprise this season.
Why presume we are?Why are we after players that we know have wages beyond our reach then?

You know sort of what wage they’re on. Scott Hogan and Sam Gallagher are clearly on more than 20k - that was blindingly obvious.Firstly: we dont know exactly who our targets are, we only hear speculation.
Secondly: You don't know if a players wage demands are beyond you until you speak to them, which comes after negotiating a price with a club.
Hogan and Gallagher are the two main ones and there’s no smoke without fire regards to them two. Their wages were always going to be above our wage ceiling that we’ve put up so why even bother trying to sign them? Why presume we are?
Perhaps more work goes into transfers than you think.

Because perhaps groundwork was done beforehand, which indicated wages could be sorted one way or another.Hogan and Gallagher are the two main ones and there’s no smoke without fire regards to them two. No... both Alan Nixon and Danny from the star have confirmed Gallagher, Nixon has confirmed Hogan. There has been no reports to the contrary. You've just assumed, based on speculation, that they are/were our targets, haven't you?
Also, in my estimation, either signing would be a loan move, making the financial contribution to their wages up for negotiation.
Perhaps, perhaps not. There’s no way Villa offload Scott Hogan for say half his wages when they can’t afford a replacement. They’ll either keep him or sell him for a cut price if they can’t get someone to loan him and pay the majority of his wages.Because perhaps groundwork was done beforehand, which indicated wages could be sorted one way or another.
And I can just envisage what would happen if Gallagher had signed for another Championship club, "Why weren't we in for him" blah blah blah.
All too predictable.
Because you said we shouldn't be in for them at all because of the wages. And woud that have been the case, and they had moved to other clubs, we would have been lambasted for not been in for them.Perhaps, perhaps not. But we were in for him? What’s your point?
For Hanson read Donaldson or Evans too.Is Mcgoldrick an improvement on Hanson
As it's probably him he's replacing
Experience wise .yes

It’s a fair point about wages of them being loans - however if Hogan is on the reported 35k they’ll want more than half paying or they might as well keep him.
Word of the day.
So do we have to wait for Wilder to confirm we're after a player now before assuming it's true? Even if it's within the local and national press, from seperate sources?Confirmed speculation then?
Without wanting to deride Alan Nixon or the Star, I tend to take their reports/articles/comments with a pinch of salt: they're often wrong.
I'll admit that the Hogan one seemed strange to me too, if we were indeed after him, it's very ambitious.
If he is on £35k and Villa agree to loan him out while paying 50% of his wages, then at £17.5k I would say he would be earning a similar ammount to our current top earners - not an impossible signing, though highly improbable IMO.
It's anything but a jokeWages is the new fax machine joke it seems and just as fucking tiresome.
