Sharps going nowhere...unless of course he wants to.Its likely we will have 3 or 4 strikers ahead of him in the pecking order but hes guaranteed at least a place on the bench.

Whether he wants to see out his career at the Lane and play 15-30 games and most as sub or be first choice at a lesser team is a different question.

Might not actually happen ..but heard Rotherham have been sounding us and sharp out for a possible move ..

TBH ..it would be a good move for both clubs ..free some wages up for us ..and give Rotherham some experience ..

I must admit your avatar echoed the thoughts going through my head while reading that.

Would cost damn good money to replace him and I would rather see us offload the likes of Ched and Lavery before this ever came to fruition. Nothing against either of those players btw but Billy offers substantially more than either of them.

actually very strong vibes that hes getting the Donny Rovers player managers job
Would be an ideal introduction to his next career
He said hed like to be our manager one day, good grounding if hes given the chance

If we had £20 million to spend on players, I'd say yes.

He's off to the U.S of A, YHIHF ;)
No this has been resurfacing every month for about a year already, why it's already been mentioned on this thread before you YHIHF'ed it!

But where are Doncaster going to get the money he's worth from? You don't just give him away just because he's going to be a manager.

A meat raffle.

I want us to sign two, younger, quality strikers that make Billy and Leon subs. Thats not a reflection on either. Its not slagging them off, wanting rid or devaluing their contributions. Its just progress.

I dont want Billy Sharp to go anywhere either. I want him to retain the club captaincy, while gradually taking the “Peschi Super Sub” role for a few years, playing a big role in big games and maybe- just maybe- joining the coaching staff and being groomed by CW to possibly take the big job some day. That sounds good to me.

Not to say he’d accept that, and fair do’s if not. But I still want Billy to score the goal that takes us back to the PL, even if its off the bench and he’s got grey hair.

The club would just say undisclosed fee and write it off for all Billys done for us. The saving of his wages would cover any small fee we would get . At most at his age 350k is realistic. Yes we love him but maybe time for fresher legs

I am fascinated to know who all of these people who see Sharp as fungible think will replace him.

Never get rid of a player unless you know who you are going to replace him with. A lesson United did not learn when Walker, Naughton, Kilgallon, Naysmith and Kenny all went, leaving us with the likes of Andy Taylor and a bunch of loanees in defence as we got relegated. Here's hoping we learn it now.

Wilder is not daft enough to cover billy leaving. The in coming wont start for 1 or 2 weeks . Vital he gets it right. No point rushing it got all the world cup

A bloke at work reckons his mate was playing golf with Tony Stewart, the Rotherham chairman, and he told him Billy is going there and Vaulks is coming the other way.

There’s no reason whatsoever to assume Sharp will make a coach or manager anywhere, let alone with us.

This sort of drivel is so familiar. Oh yes, that’s it. Ol’ Muckanettles Upanatem-Nowtfancy, the worst coach ever known to the game. That’s where I’ve heard this sort of Bladey Bill Bollocks before.

Billy Sharp is a club legend. He’s clearly the heartbeat of the dressing room and he’s been a fantastic captain and example for younger players. He bagged 30 goals in League 1 and in the Championship last season a fine return of 12. With more starts one suspects his tally would have been around the 15 mark. I wouldn’t be surprised if his goals to starts ratio is amongst the best 5 strikers in the division last year. Our winning record was also much better with Sharp starting games (pretty sure Sky said this - forgive me stattos, if wrong).

His game isn’t based on pace, his finishing isn’t getting any worse - he needs to stay. He could be our answer to Kevin Phillips over the next couple of years.

Lastly, unlike some, I do believe that having a Blade in the dressing room means something. I’m positive Sharp would be in there calling anybody out who wasn’t giving 100% to the cause for his boyhood team. He made his feelings very clear about unnamed characters not giving their all during the Adkins era.

Perhaps he’ll give 100% for the cause himself by joining in the game when he’s not scoring? He might enjoy it.

Your right.

Good players don’t necessarily transfer seamlessly in to good managers.

But given your shortsighted view on Sharp the “player”, maybe he could be like say a Mourinho or a Ferguson.

Bang average players, highly successful managers.

For what it’s worth, I’m not expecting BS to turn his hand to Management at any level just yet.

Having one of the best goals per minutes ratios in the division THIS LAST SEASON will see to it that his services as a player would be much coveted by many clubs, even if certain resident experts fail to see what is in front of them !

Technically, visibly and statistically superior to your favoured one ;)

Good point, apart from Gary Naysmith.

Ridiculously expensive, injury prone and wank. :)

You're right, there's no indication Sharp will make a good manager.

It's good to see you've remained open minded though, and not become a slave to your agenda.

You have absolutely no idea what his coaching is like. What a rancid human being you are.
