Had to laugh at the “objection” that was submitted by someone who sounds very much like a pig.

Plans look good. Just need to get the ownership thing sorted and someone to crack on at some point.

Snap!!

This should be the stand that get developed next (if any).Give away teams the full Lane end and sell the more expensive seats, that often sell out, to Blades match goers.Would also allow for more corporate facilities for football and non football events. I imagine we need a period of consistent premier league football, and a takeover for it to happen though.

Document unavaliable.

Comment:The noise and disruption this will cause to local residents for a long period will be
unacceptable, just to make the club a few quid. Our houses will be overlooked, and dwarfed by
more faceless characterless flats, reducing our quality of life well after the building work has
finished.
The club sneakily reapplied to have the 4th storey on the flats recently, after the permission was
reduced to 3 a few years ago, I hope that the council will respect locals wishes that if we're
unlucky and it does go ahead that it's still to be no more than 3, I don't hold out much hope of that
after watching the chaos of the road resurfacing program and the tree felling despite the fact that
hardly anyone thinks it's a good idea.
And SUFC, Take a hint from Southampton FC, relocate somewhere outside the city and you can
do what you want.

So, did Dave Carrick buy into Shoreham Street before the Blades moved in? Sounds a total wanker/pig.

Probably not but he does live right on the corner of Cherry Street/Shoreham Street so he'll get a fair bit of noise and disruption. He also seems to be more concerned about the flats tbf and if I was in his position, I think I would be as well.

By the way, just because he has obviously moved there after the Blades moved in doesn't mean he is banned from raising objections when SUFC put up a planning application.

Just reading the architects booklet, page 24, which says: "the Cherry Street development that is anticipated to start on site in the new year has a knock on impact to the layout of the site and the position of the ramp to the basement".Has it been delayed due to the boardroom wrangling?

I wouldn't be surprised if it was a pork, the time and effort they waste on anything SUFC is bizarre.

Can see your point but purely from a supporters point of view it should be the kop everyday of the week. Piss poor facilities, poor legroom, obscured view and slow to exit. It may be newer than the south stand but had zero thought put into it and was without doubt “done on the cheap”.
With the land at the back and the hill dug away it has huge potential

What I would do is put a fucking great mural of Duffy doing his Usain Bolt pose on the side of the stand facing his house.

Oh, I agree. I'm a proud longstanding kopite myself and know all about its limitations. I just think the numbers involved will add up better and make the South more likely to happen. Maybe it would make the Kop more likely to get safe standing (if that's ever a goer), which would at least get rid of the leg room problem? It was the Taylor reported which fucked the Kop, and we now know that was based on BS.

I wonder if these homes were there when St Marys was being built,or were they McCabe type additions.Just checked and that block of flats were built 5 years before the Stadium.
So i would conclude Mr Carrick is a bit of a knobend.

Build it and they will come.

This is the bit people don't understand. Southampton, Middlesborough, Leicester and Coventry all had shitty little grounds which they struggled to fill then hey presto, new grounds and the fans flocked in. The SS and Westfield corner are usually full, JS out of bounds, you get hassle getting in and out of BLUT plus aggravation from SYP outside. Oh and the kop is a dump. That doesn't leave very much on top of what we have now does it?

People have choices how they spend their money these days and don't mind paying good money for premium facilities at sporting events. No wonder we are where we are with some of the backward attitudes amongst our fanbase.

Somebody moved into our village, right opposite the church, as the church bells were undergoing repair and therefore silent.

Shortly after they started again, we had a hand delivered letter, addressed to "The Occupier" and starting off Dear Neighbour, asking us to support them in their bid to get the church bells silenced permanently as they were disturbing his sleep.

He got no support from us or anybody else, on the basis that those bells had been chiming in their very unusual octagonal tower since Norman times.

It's not a backward mentality, SF, it's about not putting the cart before the horse. The teams that you mentioned had increased attendances through playing consistently in the top division, it's worth noting that Boro average twice the crowd deepnding on whether they are in the prem or championship. It's also worth remembering that had we not got promoted (infinite praise to CW) when we did, having a 2/3's full BDTBL in the 3rd tier of english football was becoming a financial burden. It's only recently that Leeds started opening their whole stadium up for games. Look at the shit Sunderland will be in next season. Also, having seen the shit show that the SS caused, i am forever nervous about expensive ground improvements.

With the additional seats we'd be up at circa 37k capacity, we've never averaged that in our existence as a club and we certainly wouldn't in the championship. If you take our average attendance over the last 30 yrs, it's something like 20.5k. We don't sell out now, and i also don't believe that we sell out our corporate allocation either. Unless we are doing this to increase the sell to away teams? As some have said on this thread, the Kop would be the stand to modernise and refurb, and even wait until the safe standing issue gets resolved.

The stadium we have is suitable for the level we are playing at and will hopefully be playing at for the foreseeable future. If we want to improve revenue, then we should start with the safety advisory group & sort out the catering facilities already operating. It's worth noting that over half the prem do not average 37k attendances. It smacks of bread & circuses at a time when the ownership of the club is in the air. My tip for the top table would be invest all available monies in the team, get promoted, avoid relegation for 2 seasons, and then think about ground expansion.

McCabe's had planning permission for the kop for years and done nowt about it - apart from paying to extend the permission as it was lapsing. He's also had permission to build the flats on the corners of Shoreham Street/John Street and Cherry Street - and done nowt about it. Anyone thinking he's adding value to the ground by getting the planning permissions in place before he flogs it...?
