Idiot on South Stand

The FSA have just posted this in relation to the crowd control yesterday...

So do they get the ticket office to do them a ticket instead of using their card?

There was a bloke in front of me trying to get into John Street with a season ticket for the South Stand.

Several attempts, before the steward pointed out his error.

I can't knock away fans sitting with home fans as I've done it a few times watching the Blades away!

designblade has done a feature in the DemBlades fanzine highlighting the strategy to use. 🤫

A sparks that comes into our job has 2 season tickets for Man U , but sells them to members of the Irish Man U supporters club , he makes a fair whack out of it , it helps him and his father go and watch the team they really follow
Millwall , and he ain’t no cockney either

Had two Man Utd fans sat just to the left of me, one even had his scarf on. There were harmless enough, but still wondered how they got there tickets.
I suppose in the same way as our fans get tickets in the opposing teams home areas.

There’s a blade sat in front of me with a cockney accent. Follows us home and away ..
also a blade in the south stand with a strong Northern Ireland accent who are you judge rinder ?

I'm part of that tribe as well, been on this Forum for a few years, know a few Blades, some very well, and the question of my accent has been more a topic of banter (which I enjoy) than who do I support. But I'm a Blade, always will be, and have suffered through the bad times (followed the Blades through division 4). Now, under our best ever manager, we're every part a sophisticated, hard working football team. If you can't enjoy this side you'll never enjoy watching a match. Sure, we need tweaking, but Wilder will know exactly what's needed, so leave it to Chris and his team, he's done wonders since he became our manager, so I hope that continues for years to come UTMB!!!

I wonder what people thought Walthamstow Blade sounded like?
Over the last 30 years there’s been a Blades exodus as we’ve had to travel afar to find gainful employment. Many of this diaspora have since had kids who’ve they’ve brought up to be Blades, not in Sheffield but in Surrey, Hertfordshire, Essex, Wurzel country, Oil country. It shouldn’t be that surprising that there are Blades with southern accents. It’s not like the old days when my grandad rarely left Yorkshire (he went to London once, don’t think he liked it much but was quite impressed).

I know it’s personal choice but it amazed me how many Blades left the blut when man ure scored their 3 rd . This is Wilders Blades and one thing we know is we never give in and they missed our equaliser . I bet they were gutted missing that !

Several on our row got up and left at that point. They were obviously heading off to work, rushing to make the last bus, trying to beat the traffic or had a domestic emergency to deal with.

No true Blade ever stops believing we can still get a result until the final whistle blows. At least the players and the manager don’t.

No excuse for that Foxy, not with a ST.......but I have never seen so many people, as this season attempt to get in through the wrong turnstiles.....the clue is on the ticket

More likely to heading home to watch something important on the box ....oh yeah strictly come dancing was on , how did I forget ? Damn !

A lad near us was offered something daft like £600 for his ticket, which is nuts.

Why after sitting through the League 1 years would you sell your seat, these are the games we could only dream of 4 years ago, personally I can't wait to get back to the Lane

Because you can watch it on telly, blow for blow, in the comfort and warmth of your own home, or in a public bar with friends. You can get all the pre-match build up, the half-time analysis, the replays of every incident, and the post match analysis and stats - and you can recover the entire cost of your season ticket and make a profit by doing so.

Apart from that, no good reason really!

I didn't realise there was much to it tbh. I just registered on the other team's website a few weeks in advance. On a couple of occasions I've had to have "previous purchase history". So I bought a ticket for a previous game. Depends how desperate you are to see the match live I suppose?

There was a ding dong 5 rows infront of me after Man Utds third (Gangway G). Two lads must've been Man Utd because a Blade ST holder was pushing and shoving them both.

Unless I missed them jump up and celebrate (and I doubt I would've) is it really a huge problem to have a minority of quietly behaved opposing fans in our stand? Seems to me our fan got confrontational for no good reason.

Oh I wouldn't say it's for no reason. The moment a visiting fan enters a home section they are committing a violation of the greatest order. They are breaching the inner sanctum. There is no greater sin on earth, nothing so vile, nothing as likely to incur the wrath and bile of a home supporter. Because it's an invasion. Nothing less.

If you think that's an exaggeration, check out "The Soccer Tribe" by Desmond Morris - it explains it well.

I was at Hull City last season, sat with the home supporters. Why? Because although I can buy my ticket on the first day of sale I cannot get one for others in my family until much later, if at all. So, I bought two together in the home end. We weren't alone. There were a group of about 6 folks, men and women of middle-age, who came in after us and sat in front of us. We knew they were Blades as they were applauding our players when warming up. But there were many more as well. When we scored some of them erupted in joy. That really upset the home fans - no, I mean, REALLY upset them. It was bad enough seeing their team outplayed and going a goal behind to "the enemy" but for "the enemy" to have infiltrated their home space was adding insult to injury. A group of home fans were complaining to the stewards to get these Blades supporters OUT!

This was all happening a few seats away from us. We sat there quietly, trying to watch the game. But some of these blokes (and they weren't "kids" either, i.e. not teenagers, but middle-aged blokes) were foaming at the mouth with anger, literally incandescent with rage, just because some visiting fans were sat amongst them. They were inconsolable - and I mean that - nothing could calm them down.

A steward opened a gate to let some of these Blades supporters out from the side terrace where we were sat, and on to the away end. When this happened several Blades around us stood up and decided to take advantage of that and be re-seated amongst the Blades fans. We didn't. We stayed put. And I'm glad we did - because those Blades who did get up to make their way to the front of the stand and through the gate had to run a gauntlet of hate, bile, spittle and abuse. I remember this young kid, maybe 15 or 16 years old, he's walking along the row in front of us, heading for the gate and this Hull fan bloke on our row is literally screaming his head off at him, "get out, get fuckin' out, fuck off" and he's trying to kick out at him. This bloke was old enough to be his dad btw.

To me this is totally irrational behaviour. It is no better than animal behaviour. It is tribal and violent and totally unnecessary. But it exists and a lot of our supporters are no different to that.

There was a time when supporters could mix with each other and have a bit of fun and banter. But that went out many years ago. These are war zones now, not home and away sections. I think Fulham FC may be on to something with their "neutral" stand though. That's an interesting idea. But you'd have to warn the neanderthals first that this means tolerating your fellow man and his or her preference for supporting a different team to you.

When we played Sunderland at the Stadium of Shite we were soon sussed out as Blades but they were friendly enough and we had some banter, but when our 2nd goal went in we suddenly found ourselves all alone as the Mackems all disappeared! 🤔

We was talking to some Manc’s in weatherspoons before the game and they said about 1000 of them had gone without a ticket and wanted to storm the turnstiles - they offered my mum £100 for her ticket - flash guys or what ;) ?!

There's been some on twitter saying a group of 20 'jibbed' themselves in without any hassle at all. A good mate of mine is a liverpool fan (home and away for years) and he's always said how rife it is following them, dozens getting in for free every match. Bit him hard at Real Madrid away about 10 years ago, so many stormed the turnstiles spanish police shut it all down, so those with legitimate tickets couldnt get in!

Yeah they seemed pretty confident in the fact they would get in the ground so no doubt they will have done it before. They was asking me what the turnstiles are like and if we have ladders against the flood lights 😆😅

I’m calling bullshit on this. Not on you by the way as you’re probably just relaying what they said to you.

The days where a 1000 ticketless fans can storm the turnstiles are long gone.

Someone got escorted out during the match near the top corner of A block from the South Stand.

Anyone know what it was for? I don't remember them coming back.
Sending news of goals and bookings to China for betting reasons due to the 2 minute delay on “live” feeds there. According to a steward.

I went to the game and then did all that when I got home
