Might be a bit too early to judge this one, but yeah it’s not a great start for him. Plenty of years ahead if it doesn’t ruin his confidence
I think the same thing can be said about George Long, in time i suspect he'll be a championship level keeper. Looking back I think we over played him & it didn't help either party. A young keeper's confidence can take a lot of rebuilding.

Maybe he's a decent keeper playing in an utterly shite football side??
Was an odd decision on his part to go to a club where he was going to be at best 4th choice keeper ....
I think part of the thinking behind loaning out young keeper's is to toughen them up & to build character. I'm not suggesting that the parent clubs want the loan to be one catastrophe after another, but possibly more is learnt from how they react to the bad stuff, as opposed to the good. But it can be brutal and can do as much harm as good. Tracey conceded 5 on his league debut for Wimbledon as a 21yr old and never played for them again. Long made his debut for us at 17.
I agree with BiL's point about Long's career stalling due to lack of improvement, but as with Maguire we blooded them young, and Maguire has continued to developed. By the time Long was 21 he'd made 80ish 1st team appearances which is a rarity in GK's. He's 24, he's a good height, he's got games under his belt and I'm sure he'll be okay in the long run.
Ramsdale has currently got Simon Tracey showing him the tricks of the trade at Chesterfield, what could possibly go wrong?![]()
The Round Robins don't come in?
?
When you're digging me out, your digs need to be more obvious for me to understand them. I'm not as smart as you.
It's a type of bet. Simon Tracy liked a bet. No ones digging anyone out. Lighten up.
There will be Championship and some Premier clubs monitoring George right nowAFC Wimbledon in January. Played 4 (League) scored 8 conceded fat zero.....

This comment seems to imply that you didn't rate Simon Tracey when he played or that you have reservations about his coaching ability?
Don't know about the latter but I know he was a damned good keeper at the Lane in his time with us. He did have a tendency to like to go a wondering from time to time though...
Neither, I made it tongue in cheek, hinting at what happened to him when he went out on loan from United. Something like 20 goals conceded in 6 games?
I don't know enough of Tracey as a coach to comment, but I rated Tracey as a keeper, but he was prone to the odd rush of blood![]()
Kids develop at different rates. Wildsmith is 22, not 17 like Long was when he started with us. On the other hand Jose Baxter and Danny Cadamateri made their top level debuts as teenagers. If you think a player won't be a top level player because they're not playing first team football when they're 18 I could name a hundred PL players that weren't playing in the PL when they were 18. But I can't be arsed. All this stuff about age doesn't wash. The kid Wildsmith the pigs have between the sticks has been keeping them afloat since Westwood got injured. You've either got it or you haven't, same as when TC was wowing us at 18 and Sessegnon doing the same now at Fulham at 17.

And my point is that just because you're not good enough at 18 doesn't mean you won't be good enough at 21.That's quite a thoughtful reply considering you couldn't be arsed. By the way Wildsmith was 21 when he stepped in and made his debut some years before that.
Back to my point, the criteria for playing at 18 is if you're good enough to do so, not because you're 18 per se. Brooks is a perfect example and he could quite easily have slipped through the net if things had gone as originally planned.
Louis Reed was on the wireless the other day and pointed out he’s the same age as brooks. I’m not going to compare anything about the two apart from brooks still has the ‘he’s just a kid, give him time, give him a break if something doesn’t come off’ whereas Reed has lost any sense of an allowance for development. That's quite a thoughtful reply considering you couldn't be arsed.
