Sexist chants at Lane, are we guilty?

It's probably just me, but I don't see women as possessions, I don't see women making their own sexual decisions as slags, I don't see people of south asian descent as figures of ridicule, I don't see any race/sex/sexuality as inferior or as the punchline to a joke, neither do I see being the victim of rape as a joke. I just take the rather simplistic view that if a phrase or word is at worst illegal or at best socially unacceptable then I don't use it, whether I be at the match, the pub or work. The excuse that it was legal or socially acceptable 30 yrs ago and that's why it's still being sung at a match doesn't cut much ice with me. It's less about being outraged, more about culturally/socially evolving as a human being from the point of birth to the point of death.

Well done you, give yourself a pat on the back.

This was definitely chanted at Hillsborough but I haven't heard it sung anywhere else since.

Possibly being a little bit ignorant here, and I'm not saying that chanting is right, but how is saying that a woman has a penis considered sexist?
Hahahahahahahaha! Post of the year already, lad!

So a muted chant at the Sty by a few idiots that only a small percentage of people allegedly heard is countered by a several weeks long hate campaign on various online media targeting a young girl who lives local? So how do our own numb-nuts respond now? Pictures of Chancer online with a ladyboy or worse or mention his wife directly by name like they have? I doubt it. With the mess Chancer is making of running the Sty, I think getting rid of him is the last thing on most Blades minds.

What their pondlife have done is totally out of proportion. Sometimes daft songs are sung by a few fans when they’re pissed up that are not planned for, but this is different. It’s a planned attempt to get to Wilder by targeting his kid probably hoping that he’ll eventually walk. We saw one of the ‘respectable’ people involved online, middle aged businessman?

Lest hope their decent fans out the twats once and for all, it’s not banter and that goes for both sets of fans.

If anyone wants to truly hear offensive words, try watching ‘roast battle’ on Comedy Central. THAT is brutal.

The line ‘you’re so camp you should be in Calais with a Syrian inside of you’ what used the other night. That’s both racist and homophobic. Then there was “your girlfriend is such a dog I tried to eat her”. From a Chinese man!!!! That’s reverse racism!!! The retort was “you’re so sexually naive that when your girlfriend asked for a 69 you cooked her a chicken chow mein”

‘Your wife’s got a cock’ is barely tickling the offensive scale.

when i saw the star headline, I thought I caught Wednesdayitis where I was there at the match but didn't see what everyone else did. because I cant remember hearing any sexist chants or anything else out of the ordinary. but then as mentioned It might be because of derby. we have extra journalists who aren't used to football at the lane, to write about the non football parts of the day & we shocked their precious ears. tell them to avoid the old firm derby but what do you expect its a derby its supposed to be tense & aggressive. its the biggest home game we will have outside of fa cup quarter final or playoff semi final 2nd leg.

the way ive always seen it is that some behaviour inside the stadium is only a problem if you carry it on when you've left.

Whether or not some chant is sexist is one issue. Once whatever the chant is categorised as such, the bigger question is whether it is acceptable. If we say that ANY hint of "ism" is wrong then that really is a tricky path to tread.

But that is the way of the modern, social media driven world.

Mind you, me and the boy won't sing "shag your women etc" when accompanied by Lady HB. Fucking hypocrites that we are. :)

Does it matter whether it's 'sexist' or not? It's offensive. It's a cheap shot, same as the shit about Wilder's daughter. Is it necessary to find a box to put it in before we judge whether it's in poor taste? If you're that desperate to categorise it, it's racist because no one would be calling him a ladyboy or saying his wife is a ladyboy if he wasn't from South East Asia.

Presumably with no Lady HB you do the actions as well? :)

I thought from the title, this thread was going to be about the "Shoreham Boys, We Are Here" chant.

What about Indonesia?

Fans aren't that different from any club.
We had fans prepared to break the law over the Evans saga, sing songs about it etc, etc.

In my opinion the chant about the pig owners wife at Swillsboro probably started the retaliatory chants from the South Barnsley Porcine sung at BDTBL. It's highly unlikely they thought of something first (Euro fans Bounce but somehow look cool, not dicks) even if it is vile . I therefore suggest we are probably as guilty and should stop, not only sexist chants, but chants about peoples family members entirely. Even though our chant is funnier (doesn't make it right) and there's is just play-ground "well she's a slag then" mentality.

Lens back on his favourite subject. As predicted.

Aren't you permanently banned from here Mr Moral Compass?

Having read my post again, it does come across as preachy & holier than thou.

I can assure that I am not LdG, and i'm not claiming someone's died and made me the country's moral guardian, I was saying, that's my personal view. As I said, people can do & sing what they want. I've sung plenty of stuff in the past that I wouldn't sing now, one of those things, i've changed as i've got older.

Not you. Pedro's Winger.

Sorry to piss on people's chips but it's totally illogical to pretend that the pigs are so much worse than us.

People brought up together in the same place at the same time.

Just because they follow a different team means they have many more vile sick morally bankrupt wankers? Really?

A quick look on social media, especially on generic Sheffield news outlets, will give a clear indication there's more than enough scummy wankers on both sides.

The Chansiri wife song was sung at the Sty but how loud it was in the home end I don't know. It certainly wasn't the majority of the away end just like Friday night wasn't.

Where you draw the line between what's 'football banter' and what's out of order will always be subjective and down to personal opinion.
