I'm a pessimist by nature (I'm not sure what supporting this club would do to an optimist), but everything seems to be going too well.

We have the derby in 2 days, are favourites going into it, and have signed 3 players ahead of it.

I'm not at all comfortable going into the game as favourites, as it's not a game known for going to form. They have a new manager in (which is a concern), dreadful form and loads of injuries. Our form isn't good, but better.

Im terms of the squad, the strength in midfield now looks a little worrying. Hard to believe that Lundstram (5th when Coutts is back) will be 4th choice after doing so well lately. Worried that Fleck might be leaving.

Apologies for the blathering, I'm incredibly nervous already. I hate these games.

Likely that somebody's probably off after the pig game, we can't keep a massive squad forever, only question is who and if any of our better players are left out of the pig game it will be a big clue. My suspicion is someone big might be on their way out for significant bucks, don't mind though, needed livening up a bit with more offensive threat in midfield and up top.

Good old Bladey Inferiority Complex. Where would we be without it, eh?

I trust Tufty will give his team talk in similar terms.

Oh, the nerves... the ne

Why is Lundstram 4th choice? He's not even 2nd choice. We play TWO central midfield players. Our current FIRST choice central midfield is Lundstram and Fleck. Leonard and Evans are in as backup (at the moment). They, just like every other player will have to earn the right to take Lundstrams slot.

Massive squad? I think we could get another 3 in we still wouldn't have a massive squad.

Plus I think its pretty safe to assume Samir and Whiteman will be off out on loan or permanent, Slater, Lavery and Thomas could go out too, and CCV might be back at Tottenham.

Not so big after all that if it was ever big at all.

Lundstram is “2nd choice”, for me, until the others prove otherwise.

I’m happy with these signings, but Lundstram is improving on a weekly basis, and the shirt is his to lose.

My first thought after hearing of the two signings today was 'someone's off'. Call it pessimism, negativity or forty years of supporting the Blades but really, in terms of expenditure, we still seem to be on plan. We were told there'd be money to spend in the JTW and there has been but it's not daft amounts.

They're sensible amounts that should be affordable, it's just that Wilder and his team's ability to find good players at low costs makes transfers exciting, which kind of makes it feel like we've really splashed out when 'all' we've done is good, sensible business. We haven't paid £30m for a striker from Milan but it feels like we have.

If that doesn't make sense; yeah, I hate derbies too, be glad when it's done.

Think you might be right tom, not sure about CCV though.

Its our time to enjoy football
we are entitled to have good times as well as bad
we seem loathe to enjoy doing ok
if things are going well some just wait for the next setback
we have been in the prem before , we will be there again
first week of january some calling the board useless offering no money
can dive in feet first to slag off the board
but cant feel optimistic when we do things right

just relax and take what happens, enjoy the ride

If we are offered £20m for Brooks and £8m to £10m for Fleck it would be difficult not to accept and it would be difficult to argue with them if they did.

Feel sure that CW said a few days back that Heneghan and Thomas would be going out on loan.

This nervous bit of the post I have started to agree with today, the pigs demise worries me for this game because let's face it we should win it. Colleagues of other teams have described a Blades win 'easy, 2 or 3-0.'

What we have to remember is that they are the pre season, maybe still, favourites for automatic promotion. They are still in the FA Cup so could still win that. They have hundreds of thousands of global supporters, an owner who's dad is a billionaire, players all on £30K a week. We are still relegation contenders, currently in a bubble, no players earning over £30K a week, with a gaffer who is not proven in this division. We're up against it on Friday no doubt about that !

Happy with the new players Wilder has brought in, we have a much stronger team.
It will take a few games to settle the players in but we should be rolling in the next few weeks.
Bring it on!
