We have a problem with Cooper

Yes but dont forget hes the worst keeper in the Championship according to some stattos on here
For a lot of this season he has been poor (for whatever reason) - the clean sheets % stats are boosted by a record number of clean sheets last season. Overall he has a high % of clean sheets during his time here, but this season (at least until recently, haven’t checked the stats for a couple of weeks) he has been one of the worst championship keepers this season. It’s possible for both of those things to be true simultaneously. This is the biggest issue with looking solely at the stats, they can easily be manipulated to suit whatever point you’re looking to make, the stats are highly useful but only when used in the right way

It also hasn't helped by the amount of work he is getting through every game especially earlier in the season but even as recent as Pompey, they managed to get 8 shots on target vs our 3. The Ipswich away game where the team conceded 5, there were 11 shots on target. It's defiantly helped when you have a settled defence and midfield in front of you.

A few comparisons on here are a bit apples & oranges - for example, comparing Coops with Deano when he played for us in the Prem, and we conceded bucketloads, isn't really appropriate.

The most relevant comparisons are the goals prevented stats compared to other Champ keepers.

Last season, Coops was 5th-ranked in the Championship with an overall rating of almost 6 full goals total saved compared to an average keeper.

For much of this season Coops has consistently ranked as the worst in the Championship, 23rd or 24th, with as many as 8 goals total more conceded than the average keeper.

In the last 3 or 4 games his stats have turned around dramatically - he is now ranked 19th overall for the season with just 4.5 total goals more conceded than average.

If he continues with his current form - then he will rapidly climb back up the rankings - he personally prevented about 2.4 goals with the clean sheet at Pompey alone.

The sudden turnaround in form and consistency suggests that he has now got over some niggling injury.

Coops' kicking, however, is still substandard. In particular, his kicking of a ball rolling towards him is dreadful (especially with his left foot) in that he consistently hits under the ball and balloons the ball high in the air. (Boro's second goal!). His kicking of a dead ball is much better. The reason is that a rolling ball tends to roll up your foot when kicked, and has to be struck slightly higher up its perimeter.

Overall, though, he is a young keeper who has all of the attributes to mature into a top quality Premier League keeper.

Compare Henderson and Cooper at the same age. Thankfully the 1 positive is that we own Cooper rather than have Henderson on loan

I would say that Cooper of last season is at the same standard of Henderson. He made so few mistakes and did everything that is expected of him. Where Henderson beats him is in his two Guinness World Records:

1) Fastest time to dress as a goalkeeper (49.51 seconds).
2) Most football-headed passes in one minute (team of two).
