Can't even do the simple things well and worst of all ....... gives the ball away cheaply and is uninterested in chasing back and rectifying his mistake.

This describes my own 5 a side game perfectly

An your quoting skills ;)

They made upwards of £2m from their cup run last year and have one of, if not the highest home average attendance in the division

Since when do gates and a cup run give them the ability to attract championship players over and above other championship and league 1 teams

The press are saying that Samir was set to join Charlton on loan, however the whole turmoil down there with want away owner Duchatelet has led to the deal falling through. The owner now stating that he won't sanction any more arrivals at the club because he wants to sell it asap.

He barely played for 2 seasons and his injury record is appalling. He could not even get in the Oxford side when fit so League Two is going to be about as good as it gets.

Lad has some talent but he's going to end up in the lower leagues as he can't stay fit or produce 90 minute performances.

It's a similiar situation with Ricky Holmes...not sure he will have much pickings and expect him to end up a similiar level.

And yet another indication that we’ll be coming to some sort of arrangement to pay off his remaining deal. No chance we’ll be getting anything more than a nominal fee or a season-long loan where we cover most of the costs.
Can't we just give him a new contract then demand that Cambridge pay all his wages and a loan fee?

Just unlucky for us though, you could see what Wilder was doing when we signed him and in fairness Carruthers did have some impact in getting us out of League 1.

I was as Southend away for a 4-2 win that season and Carruthers came on (possibly his debut?) and he looked an exciting player. Good balance, good control, brave with the ball - a cross between Fleck & Duffy. I thought it was a master stroke by Wilder.

Unfortunately he seems to lack a bit of drive & his constant struggles with injuries will have impacted on his fitness which he needs to play in the middle of the park.

Overall I'd still rank him as an OK signing. He didn't keep up with our progress but he helped us out of the mire.

I thought tbh it was fairly telling that even in League 1 the impact we saw was only really there from the bench, and usually when we were already ahead. When he started he looked far less encouraging. I’m not surprised he didn’t make it with us, though I’m surprised he’s falling as low with this move.

Thought he was potentially a good signing but tbh he never impressed me and where he's dropped to since shows he has neither the ability nor the application.

Injury excuses are just that.

Only saw him handful of times at Oxford and when fit, easily one of the best players in the league IMO.

Shame the lad never kicked on. He looked a good footballer before and when he first arrived. As soon as we got to the Championship he looked out of his depth though, lacked the physicality for it. He was one I thought might develop into a decent deep lying playmaker but it wasn’t to be.

Carruthers is good at football but pretty crap at being a footballer as it is.

If you put him in Trafalgar Square with a ball and told him to freestyle he'd be alright, he's very skillful, him and Brooks used to do some reyt stuff before games.

But as a footballer he just never looked up.

GLTTL, nothing against him, but that's just how it is sometimes. Hopefully he can get a run and build his career back up.

Would be funny if he followed Duffy's career path exactly and finally made the most of his ability in his 30s.

Just shows that some of us can get things wrong.

When I first saw Carruthers playing in a Blades shirt I was excited because I knew we had a hot talent on our hands.
Don’t think he ever played after that.

Looks like only going on a loan to Cambridge. Sigh Dont think we will ever get rid of him for good.

Yes it’s inconceivable that we’ll ever see the end of this player that will be out of contract next summer...

His wages for a League 2 club like Cambridge to take on would have been a tough ask even if we’d still been in League 1. This is probably as much as we could expect given nobody in League 1 is seemingly interested in taking him.
