£500K on the KOP

I was hoping the underside of the seats would have solar panels so we could generate our own electricity when the ground is empty then sell it back to the YEB. Could be interesting though when it pisses it down during a match.

Why don't they just install a pipe to piss in at every seat? If they made the opening wide enough women could use them too just to keep the hatchet's of this world happy. They could then use the current toilet space for another executive box or media facilities or something.

Took the Mrs who is a geordie and a big newcastle fan to the Sunderland game on boxing day so she could have a laugh at the Mackams' predicament and see Bramall lane for the first time. We didn't realise we could go til Xmas eve so we ended up on the Kop rather than where i normally sit on the south stand. First time I'd been on there for probably 5 years.

One thing she pointed out which has just bypassed me over the years is just how dated and grim it is by the bogs and food stands. It does all look a bit war time round there. I know the average Kop goer couldn't give a toss about the facilities but I do think £500k spent on revamping that whole area would go a long way and bring it in line with the quality of the rest of the ground. We should still keep the character of that area but just bring it up to date and a pleasure for our fans to visit. You see the money that gets spent everywhere else on the transfer fees and wages and this is literally a drop in the ocean in comparison to what all those other bills cost. What are peoples thoughts? Daft waste of money - better spent on one young player in the transfer market?

Just some tarpaulin covering us so we don’t get piss wet through would do !

I've got a couple of suggestions that won't piss Wilder's transfer bounty up the wall, have a piss before you go into the ground and then straight after, eat before you go in and you won't be hungry. Sorted for a lot less than £500k.

Something along those lines might be a lot closer than you'd imagine, there was a planning application put in two year ago for around 1100 solar panels on the kop roof.

Joking aside, I agree with the OP. I think even a small short-term upgrade could be done at a relatively small cost and go a long way. Regarding drink, they ought to bring back those guys with the backpacks of bottled beer. Worked a treat during the Premier League season when I was a Kop low-life.

Could also do with those guys in the westfield corner. Early season was fine but now it's got full, the queues for drinks are unreal and, as they only sell bottles at the counters, those back pack guys would be ideal.

I am a member of United’s gym up at Crooks , the changing rooms and shower facilities are a disgrace they won’t even spend 5K on a refresh .
They said to the members last year when we get promoted we will do the refurb, it’s not happened yet . What a surprise.
Haven’t we heard a story like this before. Jam tomorrow or just plain deceit.

It's a bit left-field, but that's not a bad idea. I'm sure I've read about some penny-pinching club using tarpaulin to cover up a lack of maintenance?

I’d gladly redevelop the BLUT before the Kop. Chop the front half dozen rows off our much maligned, concrete covered “spoil heap.” Then go the other end and bring the front of BLUT down the floor.
Thus making it a single tier stand.

That should be the logical next step in developing the ground but a waste as SYP would then ensure that it was used exclusively for away fans. The result would be 2k fans and 4k's worth of netting.
