Happy new year everyone, and let's hope the start is better than how it finished on Saturday. Very big ask though with the trip to Pride Park a difficult place to make things right. Having said that, it's not beyond Wilder's team to pull one off in such circumstances.

Anyway....

Any team news? :)

Donaldson has got to come back in , in place of Sharp?

Baldock starts obviously....

Has Brooks been sold yet...

Really not much more to say other than to wish the lads good luck. And for the travelling fans, safe journey and hopefully for us all, we get a positive result. Hopefully 1-1.

Quite strange really, just been looking at our recent record at Pride Park. Turns out that we've won 4 out of the last 5 games we've played there, all by the scoreline of 1-0.

We have a good record there but looking at it all ways around I think it’s going to be very difficult to get anything from this one at all on current form, they are absolutely flying at home and are deservedly in second place in the League.

Think it may finish 3-0 to Derby. But hopefully I’m wrong and another side that has one of those days instead of us.

Would happily take a draw and a clean sheet but as people have said they're in good form specially at home. Need to come out of traps sharpish unlike v Bolton. Hoping for but not expecting a result today. COYRAWW. UTB

I remember on one occasion we came home with all 3 points after a 0-1 victory, with a late goal from Matt Kilgallon.

Ten minutes before we scored it looked as though Derby had taken the lead. The Derby fans were up on their feet celebrating but to the blades fans relief the ball had just rippled the side netting.

The ironic cheering started straight away and continued for the next ten minutes, each time it was as though the blades had scored themselves. Even the Derby fans seemed to see the funny side of the entire away end jumping up and down celebrating imaginary goals. That was until Kilgallon scored and they started filtering out in large numbers. Great day

Bout time we played someone that will lay down and let us put seven past em....
1.1 draw.

A draw would be an excellent result under the circumstances but hard to see us getting anything unless the lads have given themselves a huge kick up the arse following Saturday's shambles.

There will be tired legs out there as well, making the job harder.

Think we will score as Derby are not going to park the bus in any way at all so should allow some space for the likes of Duffy to create something.

Problem is I think they may have a field day against our suddenly dodgy looking back five.

3-1 to Derby.

Can we hold for a draw?
Will CW have shamed them into getting the win?
Will Wendy keep up morale, and lose again?
Will Evans return with his form back and pot 6 in a Derby mauling??
So many questions...........

Something's got to give then. Apparently (according to the BBC website) we have not won away from home on New Year's Day since 1915.

No Brooks, no party. Thought he could have opened up the game against Bolton with his dribbling and skill. We were crying out for that key to unlock a well drilled and organised Bolton side last game.

I expect much the same against Derby today, especially if they take the lead.

Looking back at games through the season where we havent perfromed particularly well it has generally been against teams playing a more attritional/physical style of football (Cardiff, Millwall, Preston, Bolton). When a team is more adventurous, we have seen us perform better with more space to exploit and also not having to try and play through a defensive line up.
Derby will probably try and take the game to us and hopefully that will suit us and our style of play. I am always optimistic but think we will need to score at least 2 to win the game.
Lets hope Carson makes some more poor clearances and another "worldy" from Russell would be nice.

He's still ill.

That was only quarter past seven yesterday evening, nothing to worry about

Some might say he will be until hes sold...not me of course !

Glory I agree with your analysis and it could be a high scoring game (nailed on 0-0 now). I'm surprised there hasn't been many rumours about new defenders as thats the first area Id be looking to strengthen this window.

No Brooks ................. worse case of tonsillitis I have ever known, I expect his departure to be announced on the 30th. I would have preferred Jake on the bench rather than CCV or does his loan terms say he has to be in the match squad?
