Well we won and that is all that counts - for now.
Noticed Cannon today, first time in 3rd game - touch in control and passing like an elephant.
Playing him WEAKENS the team from what ive seen
Then to everyones surprize on 50+ minutes lets the ball run (wide on left) turns his marker puts the ball across the box and top striker Diaz sidefoots it in.
SO easy if you do the simple things correct.
Harry Clarke better than Gilchrist going forwards - but so would I be if we had a working NHS and could get the ops.
exposed by bad player choices in front of him as everyone is.
Choudary. Statuesque for the first 20.
Bit more involved later.
NOT anywhere near a Prem player.
WEAKENS the team in comparison to Peck.
slower, less committed, less skilful.
If you think Ohare has been bad for 20 games (ie have eyes and a brain) he was EVEN WORSE today.
even clown prince wilder took him off.
Brewster played out of position all game he was on.
Stupid and soul destroying for him - but missed a good chance as i said above.
PLEASE CLOSE THE WINDOW NOW to stop Wilder giving away good young players for nowt
I CANNOT believe anyone thinks this is the correct way to play and that we actually WIN by playing this shit but we would somehow lose if we played well.
Orwellian thought processes in play as everywhere in life at the moment.
Hope we have a good football man co commentator on Radio Sheff like Edwards or ronnie Moore but very much doubt it
exposed by playing attackers wide
Well that's the second time in recent games I've watched the championship and with the highlights it looked as if there had been a game of football involving United rather than the abject shite that we endured for 90 minutes.
Fortunately the commentator and even the imbecile said otherwise.
Great manager Wilder.
Last game we were shite because 'we had played too MANY games and were tired'
Thus week we were shite because 'we (ie HIM) made so many changes and played players' 'who had played too FEW games'.
You couldn't make this shit up.
There's a job for this lying **** at no 10 when the two faced traitor is sacked for his endless corruption.
Yeah dream on. as if you get sacked for corruption in that cesspit of scum.

They are at home battling, we have 4 new players in the team, 3 points and a clean sheet, stop fucking moaning
You’re easily pleased or lacking the foresight. It’s basic football against an awful team and needs calling out. Of course i can accept the points but whats the point charging into the prem playing like this. People have short memories.

You clearly don't understand championship football

We simply must beat them at the Lane if we don't want to see them disappearing over the horizon. Burnley and Leeds have and will likely to continue to have a superior goal difference so us finishing on the same points as them will leave us in the play offs.
Goal dufference has never separated 2nd from 3rd in the championship in its present form
BURNLEY have only won 5 of 14 home games

Form guide shows we list 2 of last 6 but matched Leeds for points as they dropped 6 points fom 3 draws .....so defeats are not the end of the world

Interesting. Apart from Norwich, we still have games to play against the top form sides in the Championship!

Is there another way of looking at it. I hope the games arrive as our new players integrate quickly?

I do hope we don’t have to suffer play off agony again! Automatic promotion please.

😂 Good argument 👍.

When we get to the premier league, what would be your plan for survival? What do we have currently that will translate well to the league above?

I expect someone who is a self-proclaimed expert in championship football to have a really good answer here.

Ok in your hypothetical world where I'm manager I would be given £500m and go spending crazy, I would use DNA strands of heroes gone by and assemble a team including Deane, brown, borbokis and the like, we would win the league and cup and live happy ever after

We've played 30 won 19, drawn 6 and lost 5. If anyone had predicted that in July, we'd all be asking for some of what they were on...

I knew you’d have no answer. Because “you know nothing about football” and are not thinking ahead. Which is the whole reasoning for the (in my opinion) fair criticism of how we are playing. Results are great, can’t knock wilder for that and I never have. But the foundations we are setting for when we get promoted are so weak and poor that it’s very likely we are about to repeat our most unenjoyable season in top flight history. We are setting up for long term failure for some short term gain.

Personally I thought we bum around mid table with an outside chance of relegation. This season has massively exceeded expectations.

So before the start of this season, what do you think the owner and manager should have done differently if anything? Also what do you think the manager and new owners should be doing differently now to ensure long term success? No vague answers please.

I would focus on recruiting players that would suit a style of play that flourishes on a more dynamic game, technical ability, creativity and composure.

Less players thats only attributes are they get stuck in and put a shift in (the stereotypical Sheff U players). More purposeful possession (less passing across the back line - quicker transitions), better composure on the ball (reducing wasteful passes and panicked clearances into channels that turnover possession), using the width better and quicker transitions from back to front. Using purposeful possession to see games out instead of the parking the bus and putting unnecessary pressure on our defence. More chance creation.

I think defensively and GK wise we are pretty sound. Especially when we had Souttar. The rest of our game is just a bit average.

I think now Wilder and coaching staff should be implementing a different style to what saw us fail miserably in the prem last time. I feel like we're charging back into the same situation.

There's no way we will see the like of last season in the prem. Where we seemed to lose a player to z long term injury on average rovers fortnight.

We went into most game with that many kids as our only options to change games we named our 25 man squad at the start and 26 of them were out more than they were in.

YOU need your first choice players playing to stand an earthly against prem teams .can't think of a game we didn't have 3 or 4 players who should have been on the bench to start games

This group now are not just hard working..you don't get over 60 points in 30 games without some quality

I suspect that the new owners will be content to spend more than the 10m they splashed on Cannon, if we do get promoted!
EPL status gives them (COH) a vote at the table and access to lots of TV funding. Spent wisely using their data resources, will hopefully combine Wilders team ethos with athletic, quality replacements for those who cannot make the step up.

We don’t know yet if Wilder will be allowed to choose players, or if COH will have any faith in his players, or make the decision for him, and allow him to use academy players to fill the gaps left by make weight movements.
At least most of the squad has some value now, so when we lose players who cannot step up, there will be some funds to add to whatever COH are prepared to spend.

The CB replacement is due in today, but the market is getting harder by the second.

It will be interesting / a little stressful when we get thefe. I think I can speak for all blades when I say that we don’t wan’t a repeat of last time.

We are never going to avoid injuries, no team does. We somehow seem to suffer worse than most do with them though. We also won’t have the squad depth to compete so relying on quality & luck to pull us through games won’t cut it. Thats hopefully where a style of play might help.

I do think we have 60pts from mainly hard work and some moments of quality but mainly hard work. We know from experience that won’t be enough in the prem. Our quality won’t be as good as the opposition and hard work, we have witnessed, doesn’t get you too far. Unless, like we have also witnessed, it is paired with a style of play.

Less than one third of the current squad will make the step up. Wilder will want to test academy players, but he won’t be allowed to.
Based on 2 current examples of academy graduates, we have Arblaster, and RND. Who do we choose for a step up to the Prem?

Will COH allow anyone to scupper their plan for sustainability in the EPL? What if Wilder declines their global data choices? What if the 10m spent on Cannon is all they have to invest?

Too many questions, and the truth is, no one knows for sure.

Hard work will not produce enough moments of quality to keep us up. The loan rules are very different in the Prem, and we will need to sell or lose one third of the current squad. Academy lads can all go out on loan, but the rest will have to be sold! Keep any doubts or potential as back up players until we know the COH plan.

With the amount of change in the summer, the amount of injuries and the amount of new players recently added i struggle to accept were sh**

Whilst we have got our faults i can honestly say i am well happy with where we are right now in second because i definitely didn't see it coming in august.
The team above us in Leeds and the team below us in Burnley are far stronger than us to date and were still in the mix.

fancy us to grow a bit now as new players settle, nothing to say we won't take points from them around us over the next few months.

I'd have taken 6th in heartbeat in the summer, we could be 3-4 pts better off if it wasn't for all the injuries we have repeatedly turned out for games struggling for an established 11. It's down to the lads attitude and application that we haven't been absolutely pummelled when under strength and that is a good sign.

Don't doubt the difference Hamer makes. He is our main player, main threat and main focal point every single match.

we are more like the first year up in the prem under wilder than last prem seasons squad
we never thought pre season we would finish 9th as most were freebies and players we had bought for division 3

we have more decent academy products at hand if we go up and who weve bought in january will improve us once theyve settled into the squad
Hopefully a fit again Souter who has impressed can return

if we can finish 9h with mousset mc goldrick and mcburnie lundstram
perhaps we dont give people enough credit

So nothing to do with derby being desperate to stop the run they're on? Making it a scrappy stop start game? Playing anti football and dragging the game and us down with them.

Fuck 3 points eh? Would you rather win and get 3 points or play like prime barca and lose/draw?
Why does this same question get asked by people on here every single time somebody says the performance was shit?
I would rather win and be shit than play magnificently and lose just as everybody else would rather that, but that isn't the point that me or anybody else is making.

Even Barcelona have to scrap a result out once in a while.
The difference is our wins are scrappy and shite, just like our defeats are scrappy and shite.

There is one difference between a win and a game we don't win, in a game we win there is that split second where the ball goes in our opponents net.

For 89 minutes and 45 seconds we are wank, and that is almost every single game, win. lose or draw.
I don't think an occasional outbreak of quality is too much to ask considering the players we have

‘For 89 minutes and 45 seconds we are wank’
What a load of fucking bollocks.
