explain to me again why we need 4 x 5 million pound players

lavery did fine today while he was on, to be honest, they all played well, we look like a team! Shout out to Duffy whos been brilliant both games hes started. He is such a clever footballer. They don't know where to pick him up. Coutts was outstanding too and deserving the MOM just in front of Duffy, mainly because he played the full ninety.

Because Chris Wilder deserves the support to manage the best players we can possibly get our hand on.

He's earned the right.
weve got our hands on quite a few decent players already
fees dont make players better , heart , desire and determination does
will gladly pay 5m for someone better than Sharp

but who is it

4 goals in 5 games , not cost us anywhere near 5m did it

Which 5 million pound players improves on this lad

or any player in this picture

No but while you are deliberately lighting the blue touch paper just to be an end here's a thought. All those in that picture get injured. What do you do and how much is it going to cost you to replace them?

I have to say... I agree with BTL.

After all the midweek slavering and after the Cardiff defeat, today was a nice reminder that, actually, our players can actually compete and play at this level. Coutts today gave a performance I can't remember seeing for years and years.
Yes, we probably do need a bit more up front but as a squad, we're not too far off being a very decent side at this level.

i'd give a shout out to stevens too. lafferty didn't do much wrong last season and has been a bit unlucky, but it shows wilder will not be happy with standing still and will make those tough decisons, think edna is getting better by the game

But what about the rest of the team? 0 goals in 5 matches.

No one is saying we replace our best players, we need to add to them e.g. a decent partner for Billy.

It's a 40 odd game season so I hope we don't relax our ambition in the transfer market.

Magnificent win though.

And meanwhile Rhodes is on 0

I agree that we don't need to splash out on 4 x £5m players, however I don't think many people (if anyone) said we should.

What most people would like are players that will take us from a mid table or bottom half team to a top half team with an outside chance of making the play offs. Don't care whether they are £5 or £500m, black, white, Arab, French, fast or slow. As long as whoever we sign improves the squad I'm happy.

One priority would be someone else to score a few goals until Kieron Freeman and O'Connell get their scoring boots on.

9th home win n the bounce dominated and out shot regular top 8 team Derby
creating chances got in players that are starting to fit in and are in top 6
and still above the swine
I am sure there are many posts on here that I have missed, but I have read a good number over recent months, and I don't recall a single one which advocated us signing 4 players at 5 million apiece. If you really want something explaining again, it would be helpful let us see what the original explanation was.

We should always look to bring in higher quality players, if they can improve us then the deal should be done. For those that are here it keeps them focused and sharp, for those that come in it tells them this isn't a place they can turn up and cruise.
However I've still yet see anything which support either Wilder has targets that we can't afford or that the board have failed to give him everything he wants.

Because we have some very very angry posters that insist that we need the big money signings...And because thats what Wednesday did

However, its still very very early

I'm not sure anyone has suggested that we need 4 x £5m players other than blade too long who just trying to find another straw man to knock down.

If the blades went out now and signed 3 or 4 players of £5m quality wouldn't that be great? At this level, there's a decent chance they'd improve the first team. If we can bring in players of that quality for £10k, brilliant but constantly expecting our manager to improve the team on lower budgets than his rivals seems as daft as expecting us to financially compete with the likes of Middlesbrough. Wilder's doing a great job, I hope the owners give him a bit more backing in the next few days.

Who's said we do need to?

In any case, aren't you trying to tell everyone we've spent £20m already?

If we can find players with the strength and speed of some of the teams in this league that will die for the cause like our current players then 4/5mil will be worth it.

Spending big on talent or reputation alone is not the way to go.

We need to be very careful about spending £5million (if we had it), on a player. He would probably want wages aligned to his transfer fee, and the way is then open for disharmony and damaging team spirit. What we have at the moment is very special, and we nedd to look after it carefully.

Very well, first half, controlling decent periods and mostly limiting a dangerous Derby side to the break. The luck of the goals covering up how much we deserved a lead. Second half, we looked to sit deeper and absorb the pressure, struggled to keep hold of possession but still limited Derby to few real looks at goal until a bit of sloppy defending and a sign for seven minutes added on.

Same as I've said so far this season, you can see the gaps in our side but you can also see that the massive gulf in class we were told about is more of a small step. Some teams like Cardiff and Boro will expose us, plenty will drop points to us.

Thanks PB.

My view is the standard of football in the championship, despite the pigs telling us it's La Ligament, hasn't changed that much. Only the rise in the value of the transfer fees has changed.

The best way to get up the league is to play a system that doesn't need to change the higher up you go.

Then at each stage you add players who play that system but are better than the ones you replace.

This argument and the veracity of it changes week to week depending on if we have won or lost. seems to be that fans forums have developed into a way of fans slagging each other off with the foootball issues secondary to an all are fans are cunts except me debate that shames us all
