A few observations from the stats:

• xG battle was a dead heat
(2.16 v 2.17), but we lost despite creating similar quality chances. We had more shots (15 v 12) and more on target (5 v 4), plus 9 corners to their 4. Possession dominance was clear: 62.3% v 37.7%, yet conversion rate (6% v 25%) tells the story.

• Aerial duels on paper were strong again: 53 contested, 58.5% success. McGuinness led with 7 wins, Tanganga close behind with 6 aerial duels (and 5tackles, 1 interception, 8 clearances). Ben Mee chipped in with 5 aerial duels. The decision for Peck to man mark their most dangerous aerial threat is one hard to explain, although I am sure it wasn’t Wilder’s fault.

• Midfield screening solid but stretched : Soumaré posted 2 tackles, 2 interceptions, 2 clearances with 91.5% passing accuracy (47 passes). Peck got the lowest positive stats score with 1 tackle, 1 interception, 3 clearances and 87.5% accuracy from 72 passes but a catastrophic back pass!

• Creativity came mainly from wide areas: Ogbene delivered 5 key passes and 8 crosses (though once again none accurate), plus 1 dribble. McCallum added 3 key passes and 6 crosses, with 1 shot on target. O’Hare was our most incisive player: 3 shots, 2 on target, 2 key passes, 3 dribbles, and the goal.

• Subs impact minimal: Burrows, Ings, Matos, Davies, Oné combined for just 1 shot and 3 dribbles. Cannon wasn’t involved this time, but striker contribution remains a concern. Campbell had 2 shots, no key passes, and only 14 touches.

• Defensive organisation better than scoreline suggest: Despite conceding three, two came from clinical finishes (one from a free header, one an awful back pass) after transitions, the other a questionable penalty. Our block and clearance numbers (Tanganga 8 clearances, Mee 3, McGuinness 4) show the back line worked hard under pressure.

- Ongoing striker concerns : Conversion rate: 15 shots, only 1 goal (6%), Striker involvement: Campbell and Ings barely featured in build-up.

Losing at home so badly to a relegation rival (I’ve finally accepted that’s the battle we are in!) is a bitter blow. I’m trying to be positive, and some stats suggest it was better than I thought. But there again, there are lies, damn lies and statistics.

The stats have improved but you can’t account for total fuck ups.

I’d still like to see running stats.

Ogbene is the move killer. Not surprised to read that he ended 13 attacking moves by giving the ball away. He simply cannot pass accurately to a team mate. Another wasted loan.

He's a supporting striker, not a winger / wing back. Not sure why he's ended up out there over the last few years.

It’s shows the soft underbelly, weak mentality, low confidence and lack of quality in the spine and width of the squad.

Not seen it mentioned anywhere, but in the 1st half Ogbene skinned the defender, got to the byline and the defender slid in and from where we were sat (BLUT) took him out. Looked stonewall to me, ref gave a goal kick, so no touch on the ball.

So would I. Individual player stats for distance run (as well as a raft of other stats) is offered by Opta but requiring a costly subscription

All I have for publicly available data is “Sheffield United has been noted for covering approximately 4,193.6 kilometres as a team across the season. This placed them 15th in the Championship for distance covered”

4000 of those were run by O' Hare probably 😂

Some stats off fotmob, 1st in number of corners 92 how mant have we scored from
2nd touches in oppo box , only coventry had more
1st in possession won final 1/3 , 5.2 per game
What have we done with the above, who is the set piece coach, get rid asap, play 2 up front

These stats show what some of us have been saying for months now. The midfield is absolute toss.
Absolutely bang on the money, only COH does anything, nobody is threading the ball through anymore, nobody dosent shoot, Campbell dosent run the channels to give the midfielders any angles for a threaded ball, hes a lazy unfit player, defence isnt to bad but our problem lies within our midfielders and strikers, Peck hasn't scored a goal yet and that's absolutely criminal for a midfielder, whether he's an holding player or not.....midfielders should support the attack,
