[Confirmed] Beattie going in January

Baggies i believe, time for Stokesy to step up :)

Beattie was in the Mail's, top ten wanted transfer targets list today.

HULL AND FULHAM WANT BEATTIE

According to The Daily Mail, Hull City manager Phil Brown is hoping to push through a January deal for Sheffield United striker James Beattie.

The Humberside club are supposedly willing to meet the Blades' £6 million valuation of the former England man, who moved to the Yorkshire club in 2007 after a fairly miserable two-year stint at Everton.

The 30-year-old has rediscovered his predatory instinct since switching to Bramhall Lane. Indeed, he finished last season as the Championship's second-highest scorer, with 22 goals in 39 games.

Thus, Brown is hoping the ex-Southampton hero can provide a genuine goal-threat up front and reinvigorate Hull's campaign, which has tapered off after a blistering start.

However, it is likely the Tigers will have to fend off Roy Hodgson's Fulham, who are also thought to be mulling over a bid for Beattie.

He is about join Fulham, Stoke, Hull, Boro, Sunderland, Newcastle, Spurs, West Brom, Bolton.

He cant join all of them surely. :)

Sounds like there's a lot of conjecture about him joining Stoke for £5m...

I bloody hope not.

Stoke will be back down in the championship next season!

It's flooding in from various sources.
What was all that about being happy to see out his career at BL?

Not too disappointed if this does get confirmed - I've always had a problem with "untouchable" players who never get subbed or dropped. I would however be disappointed with the club's relationship with the press and fans regarding "instilling confidence" by telling us he's going nowhere.

We'll have to wait an see, not seen anything like confirmation yet and can't get in touch with a decent source.

Could make the weekend interesting though! There's lots flying about regarding Kitson and Lita.

Jesus, it's all happening today!

Just heard we're considering a bid of £2.5m from Stoke to get him off the wage bill but Beattie would want £500k pay-off.

If that's true I reckon it sounds like he'd rather stay here.

If that's true, there has got to be a few more signings coming in than we've heard so far OR we are a lot worse off money wise and somethings gone wayward in the WHU cash.

Especially as all the press was that theres no pressure to sell, Beattie wanted to stay and that we valued him a lot higher.

Seconded, heartily!

Nothing cast iron yet, but BBC are reporting:

Premier League side Stoke City have agreed a fee believed to be around £2.5m for Sheffield United striker James Beattie, BBC Radio Stoke reports.

It is understood that Beattie visited the Britannia Stadium on Friday to discuss terms over a possible move.

The former England international, 30, who joined the Blades for £4m from Everton in 2007, has scored 12 goals in the Championship this season.

Stoke completed the signing of Matthew Etherington from West Ham on Thursday.

Beattie began his career with Blackburn Rovers, before leaving to join Southampton in 1998.

The 2003/04 season saw Beattie score 17 goals for the Saints which led him to move to Goodison Park in January 2005.

Beattie has also won five caps for England, making his debut in the 3-1 defeat to Australia in February 2003.

Absolute rubbish. Shows some good ambition that, selling our only striker worthy of the name for fucking peanuts.

We could wait for confirmation and facts before getting too angry? :)

Just a suggestion :D
