Sorry. Were you not being serious? Surely we realise that Tufty, pragmatic and straight-talking as they come, wouldn't waste his time on PR stunts, especially ones that are doomed to fail? We may not get CC, obviously, but the bids gone in and it's clear we want him. If there was absolutely no hope that wouldn't have happened. These offers aren't just made for a laugh or photo opportunity. We will have been given reason to think it might be worthwhile. That's not to say it will happen of course.

I fear I didn't merely get out of the wrong side, but the wrong bed.

As my old chum Pinchy has said, Wilder wouldn't have made this bid, nor made it public without good reason. It's totally out of the blue and I imagine he must have been made aware (either by an agent, or the club) of his potential availability.

Wolves were the only club in the championship to make a profit in 2015/16 (£5.8 million). They would not have lost much last season either. They can lose upto £39 million over a three year period. In theory, they could lose £39 million this season and still be within FFP (on presumption last years loss was balanced against previous year profit). Completely different from the pigs who spunked their £39 million over the last two seasons and are now suffering for it.
