I tried to be optimistic when Evans came in, however he's took this long already, to even get on the bench in a pre season game. Hes not even close to starting, in the first team. Got my doubts on whether he will be right for the beginning of the season. He's out at the moment with a hip injury, but he's also had the one he brought with him from Chesterfield, as well as a injured ankle. So that's 3 different injuries. I just think we would have got a younger striker for the same amount of money, whose not injury prone, for the same amount of money we spent on ched

You're a cretin. Sorry to tell you, but you are.

To come on here and start raising questions and criticising the signing of a player, who is working his way back to fitness after 5 years of being banged up for something he was cleared of being guilty of, and saying we could have spent the money better - and we've not even finished pre-season yet! FFS!

You say we could have got a younger striker for less money than we paid for Ched. So please tell us, how much did we pay for Ched? And then tell us the name of the younger striker who would have cost less and why he'd be better?

And then tell us how you know that Ched won't be a success next season?

The facts are, Ched cost us bugger all. He's been good enough in the past to play at European and National level and he was sensational in his last season for us. If that isn't worth a punt for a club who are trying to compete at a higher level on less money than most of the competitors at this level then I don't know what is.

It's a bit concerning that he's already having injury issues. He can't afford too many more setbacks.
The first actualy rational response. Jesus it's as if I've fuckin murdered someone. All I was talking about was he keeps getting injuries. If it was sharp I think people would be questioning him.

Maybe just maybe to the average thinking man. He was injured all last season, we are just slowly bringing him back to first team action.

Maybe it's just me.

Remind us what we ACTUALLY spent on him?
500 k. Same price we spent on Billy sharp. Who has a great record in then championship unlike Evans. I'm not slating Evans quality I'm just questioning if he's capable of being what he once was. Just like if sharp was having these injury problems for the past year, people may be questioning him

The injury bit is clearly an issue. Let's wait till Aug 5th and see.I do agree with you injury/weakness/inability to regain required level of athleticism could be the biggest problem with Ched.
Desire to succeed won't be.

I doubt we spent that mate.

I'm only going off what the reports were saying. That's the only thing to go off. If he was less, and if he works out and even gets 10 goals all competitions, I'll eat my words. But at the moment, I'm worried with his injuries, no doubt his quality is worth a million, but his whole fitness at the monent puts his worth down

I would agree with your sentiments, however I have huge confidence in Lavery and Brooks.

As everyone does. But the only problem with brooks, half of me wants him to play shit until the window ends. Coz at the first chance he gets, McCabe will sell him. And if he keeps scoring belters like today

True. But are you a Lavery believer mate?

Are you sure 500k? because I believe it wasn't even half that

Moan moan fucking moan Lighten up for fucks sake

Difficult to say, I believe he's got it in him, but hes the sort of player who could be used as a utility player. A bit like done. He has a bit of pace so I can see him being wasted on the wing. However he does have glimpses of excellence, like when he came off bench against Coventry away, and had to curled shots about 20 yards out hit the exact same are of the crossbar. Also he's obviously got the hunger to score against the pigs, he never had a chance with them. And I think he will haunt them.

Good points mate.
I think Caolan with the right strike partner could absolutely smash the league. I think Sharp will run out of steam as will Clarke. I know that will cue abuse, but I see it.

Would have been good to spell the title correctly to begin with. Sh*t I hope I have no auto txt spelling errors in this post now!
Ched will give his heart and soul to make this work, I think he, more than anyone else blames himself for the miss out on promotion back in the day. Why his lawyer didn't postpone the case until after the end of the season is a mystery, perhaps a pig, but useless in any case. An idiot could have prepared a better defence, as was shown eventually. Ched is not the smartest ticket himself or he'd have had a better lawyer.

So in reality, for a small fee we gain a committed blade, with the passion Tufty admires, who wants to make amends, and has the ability. Will he regain full fitness, we don't know. Not all Tufty's signings will work, give him a break, but those that do...... And he seems to be the master of turning players round.
Would you rather trust in our last few managers or CW? I know where I stand. Ched could make that difference playoffs or relegation fight, give him the chance.

One of my two major concerns about this signing was that Evans will spend more time injured than on the pitch. The early signs are not encouraging.

Still pre season though - time will tell.

Brooks will only be sold if CW wants to sell him.

Do you really think He would go against the managers wishes?

"Chris, we've had an offer for young Brooksy, I've accepted it"

"Behind my back?"

"Erm....."

"Look, I've reduced the wage bill, sold some promising youngsters, got a profit on transfer deals and still got us up, this one I don't want to sell"

"I'm selling him"

Can you see that happening?

Only one question:

Who said that Ched would be "right for the beginning of the season"?

I said on another thread that he will probably be fully fit and ready for October.

This is how i see it. To give the lad a couple of months to get himself back up to speed after a 4 year break out of the game, and then a stop / start year at Chessie not helped by them having a poor physio team, is only fair. In my mind, I never expected a totally fit and ready Ched Evans playing up front for Utd in August. If he's still not fit and ready to go in October though, then and only then will i start to have a couple of doubts. Give the lad a chance, he could be a snip for us.

Let's wait until October or November.
He's been out a long time, I'm pretty sure the spell at Chesterfield was to ease him back in and his return home was always the plan.
Not ITK but just an assumption.
He will be training at an intensity he's never experienced so it will affect his body somewhat.
Give the lad a break, he deserves it

The money we spent on Evans could have been divided up and got the Leonard and Holmes deals over the line.

Just saying like....
