Sheff United's the team t'follow
We've got Sammon and Sharpey
Che and McNulty
And Diego Di Girolamo

Only one of them players was worth his salt.

Don't do it this season lads!

Keen as you maybe to be the next Kop songwriter, let's wait until they've earned it?

To be fair the only reason most of those players were in the song is that we had nothing else to sing about and their names were easy.
Try composing a song that has a line that rhymes with 'Basham'. (Without it being 'Bash Them'.)

Players having their own song has been a problem for years and I was really glad to hear songs for the following players last year

Moore
Freeman
O'Connell
Fleck
Coutts
Lavery
Sharp

There may have been more but they are the ones that stood out

plus wilder and knill of course

Certainly beats "united, United " all day long.

Never sang it I'm happy to say. Even happier in hindsight that I didn't sing a song containing the name of that horrible jug-eared fucknut.

Don't fucking include me.
I still haven't decided if any of Hope Badger Helmsley Flynn Colquon Hockey Woodward Salmons Dearden Currie Reece are worth a kick in the bollox.

Thank you. I started a Sunday team 25 years ago, called the Heroes of Waterloo after a pub owned by the left back's Dad. Sitill going to this day, but the number of times we've been called "Heros of Waterloo" in fixture lists, league tables and cup draws really boils my piss.

We had the AGM last week, and the pub where we'd booked a room came up with a new but probably appropriate one - the sign on the door said 'Zeroes of Waterloo'. Time to move on from the Old Red Lion, I sense...

Personally think there are too many quick to start a thread on here about stuff that doesn't matter. No matter how we start the season I can't wait to be talking football again. :)

You'll be able to praise the chap twice this season , TD ,
I look forward to seeing you pat him on the back , and say good game you
horrible jug -eared fuckwit .

Last match of the season there was a one-man attempt to get a Basham song going to the chorus from relatively obscure Bowie song Fashion:

Didn't really catch on...

just used the Rhymezone program to see if there were any decent rhymes for Basham that had alluded me...sorry folks, saw the rhyme 'round clam', I shall now be chuckling for the rest of the day.

I only join in with 'We ain't got a barrel of money, we've got Woodward and Currie...." because they're the only players that I know. Who the devil are Che and McNulty and when did we ever have a Diego in our team?

I think some just make it up as they go along.

...'and with Eddie Colquhoun, promotion it soon...der der dee'.

If this is obscure to anyone they really need an education in music.

I can remember my dad , singing about Hodgy , Yashin , Mick Jones and Eusabio , all in the same song . Best song ever before the GCB and my personal favorite Swinging a pig

That's a blast from the past! I was still at school then but I remember it well, sometime just after the 66 World Cup (obviously).

Aye aye aye aye
Hodgy is better than Yashin
Mick Jones is better than Eusebio
And Wednesday are in for a thrashin' :)

Yes it should be "Heroes" not "Hero's" as I typed into my phone at 10.18pm after a few beers as I sat alone checking out the football threads on here.

Interesting response that it provoked though! Considering the general level of literacy on here - quite remarkable! And one poster even took the opportunity to have a dig about fine wine and stuff too! (A person I must have really upset before about something?). All because of a misplaced apostrophe!

Splendid!

Now..my advice... well intended...and the main point of my thread..

Stop making fucking heroes out of players who haven't been here two minutes and haven't proved a fucking thing you thick twats!

Fucking Sammon and Adams and McNulty and EEL!!! Liabilities - every single one of them.

Save the adulation for players who have proved beyond any doubt their worth to the club.

That's all thanks!
