Harry can do a lot better than Leicester in my opinion.

Everton would be a decent shout as their centre backs are either aging or naff.

If I was hull I'd be demenading 15m plus given the parashoot payments they can't need to sell massively

Figure rumoured to be 17 million, which gives us £1.4 million (10% of 17-3)

Surely money which was not budgeted for and should enable us to get more quality

I hope it is 15%, but I was told 10% and journalist Alan Nixon has confirmed 10%.
Hopefully you are correct, could do with the star confirming it, however I doubt they are interested as news coming in that they are doing a full page spread on the type of brushes being used to paint the rust bucket.

Slightly ot but after watching that rubbish from so called England defenders tonight in Paris, no one can convince me otherwise but Maguire is head and shoulders above any of that lot tonight. Play a 3 at the back Cahil-Maguire-Stones, with wing backs Walker and Rose and England will perform much better defensively.

Leicester have offered £16.5m for Hull defender Harry Maguire, with the 24-year-old valued at £20m by his club. (Daily Mail)

Fucks sake....£13m more than we sold him for 3 years ago.

Hopefully now we are at least in the championship there can be no justification for selling our players to the premier league cheaply.

You can only sell players for what people are prepared to pay, last year of contract, sunstroke etc.

Yep, I get that Bertie

But having brought through the club two England players (counting Maguire cos it's only a matter of time til he gets his transfer) we have been in a position with Harry where we didn't have much choice, but completely fucked up with Walker.

Hopefully now, we might begin to make more use of those types of player for our club, and capitalise financially when they are at the brink of their peak, and the top of their value. No excuses now. Players like Brooks are looking like they have a future in the game, and if he has a blinding season at Chezzy he could well be coming back to us ready for our team. He's gained rave reviews for England and so he will get chances for England again which will push his interest up.
What we have to do is ensure we keep him fairly paid, and well stocked with years on his contract so we can have more control of any sales when bids come in.

It should also be said, that the policy of not spending huge sums will allow our youngsters and other young players brought in the chance to shine. Managers who spend big money simply have to play them, players who have come in on big salaries and fees expect to play. So with a level playing field every player gets a chance.

Given the fees that go around these days 16m is a bit disappointing, young and English usually means at least £25mil, shame its Leicester and not someone else who may pay a bit more

As Harry didn't play for England while at Hull I'd suggest we git an initial 2m.

Means we will walk away with 1.45m.

Not a bad afternoon's work to be fair!

Walker seems more when than if though could be anywhere between 40-60m.

Just need Jamie Murphy and Che Adams to become unsettled.

Happy Days!

There's time for another club to come in hopefully and drive the fee a bit higher.

I am also surprised it Leicester. I know they won the league, but I see nothing to suggest they won't be struggling to mid table if they are lucky next season, and in reality it quite likely that with a poor run of results the manager will be pushed out.

I honestly thought Harry would make a move to a more established big club. I could see him going to Everton, or maybe Arsenal. I suppose it just shows that a rising talent of English roots is still realistically overlooked for foreign alternatives.
But for me, he's a much more accomplished defender than Stones. It's bizarre how Stones has been a player of that fee, played for England and got a move to Man City.

To be fair, with 1 year left on his contract, £16m isn't too bad.

Bang on bertieblade people seem to think players will go for the stupid amounts, but they are only worth what someone is willing to pay for them.

Not disagreeing that Harry had to move on for his career but I sometimes wish we had the balls to just say actually NO we aren't selling

Appreciate we were a league 1 side but we've sold these player and they've gone on to be worth substantially more. To the tune of c 60m +

Had we held out nerve on one or 2 more occasions we wouldn't have spent 6 years in league 1 and could be a premier league side gaining similar fee. Regardless of not being able to keep unhappy players most of these lads would still have buckled down and worked if we'd had said not for sale.

Now being reported as £12m with Add-Ons... So probably now around £800k-£900k heading our way.

Again a very good point, I don't think over the next few years we will be a selling club, as the ethos under Wilder has taken a shift more to putting us in the driving seat as per the case with DCL and Adams where we pushed back three bids before excepting, I think in the past we have been more than willing to except the first offer, almost like we except the fact the player has packed up and moved on before we really started to negotiate the deal, I feel Wilder will not work that way moving forward.

Nothing wrong with being a selling club, every club is a selling club with the exception of maybe Real Madrid and Barcelona, but it's the size of the fee that counts.

At the moment, I've not seen any proof that we have learned any lessons from selling Walker for peanuts.

Of course every club is a selling club and both Real and barca, would have a limit if silly money was thrown around.

Do you not think the DCL and Adams sales were handled better than previous sales, such as Walker and Naughton and Harry? do you think we could have got more?

I think we got a fair value on both, although in Adams case a little over his value.

Harry - was a contract issue and I think in the end we didn't do too bad.
Adams - seems his attitude could be questionable so that probably impacted on the fee we got as we were probably more happier to see the back of him than if he had been a model pro.
DCL - £1.5m is peanuts and Everton have had our pants down. By all accounts DCL's attitude is spot on although he might have been disappointed to not get a big move, he no doubt would have continued to work hard and made every effort to break into our starting XI. We could have had a player worth £10m+ had we kept him for another year or 2, so to cash in for a measly £1.5m is very disappointing to me. To put that figure into perspective, the pigs are paying some very average strikers more than £1.5m a year.

All true and good points, on the DCL deal, however at the time he was not in the first 11 and must have been far from Wilders plans so he might have seen value in the sale, but I agreed it could have been more had he had a year maybe two under his belt, would that have been the case with Slew? his career as been on a massive down ward trajectory since that sale, he could have been a more complete play and perhaps more than the value we sold him for?

Lumping on Leicester City relegation next season now - everywhere Harry's been since Blades he's been a fantastic curse!
