Wilder on Ched

Signing Ched has stopped us getting the dream defence of Terry and Jags.

Shame that...

We'd have been unbeatable with them in the centre and The Two Ronnies as fullbacks ... :(

Serious question Alfreton . Have you heard the recent RS interview where CW talks about the signing of Ched . And if so , what about what he says makes you think the decision to recruit him wasnt 100 % down to CW ( AK's opinion aside ) ?

Just that Chris has said nowt in his interview to dispel views about boardroom interference in (& initiation of) this signing. In saying that, it's clear he's fine with it having taken place.

" It ultimately is my decision , i know that theres been a few bits and pieces flying round that you know its been pushed on me , i wouldnt be at this football club if i was told to sign certain players , and thats a fact , id shake the owners hand and walk out the front door as i walked in the front door . Ive said that all along , you know , my standing at the football club im not going to be a patsy to anyone i have to work with people but these are my decisions "

Thats a direct quote from CW , which part of that doesnt dispel views about Boardroom interference in his decision to sign Ched ? Or are you simply referring to the fact that at some point the signing of Ched would need ratification by the board just like every signing he makes does ?

Wilders a true blade, he has taken one for the team again!, I dont believe him and that's not me being controversial, just my take, i feel he can get Ched firing, i pray he does. He has been almost perfect in assessing what we needed so far ie keeper left back and centre backs i don't think he will have looked at our front line and thought what we need is Ched Evans! As i said just my take on it. (And I'm often wrong)

So CW , the true Blade , has just very publicly lied to fellow Blades ? Are you seriously suggesting that thats what hes just done ?

It's his decision ... "ultimately".
It's not a signing that's been "pushed" on him or "forced" on him.
He won't be a "patsy".

Why does that mean the board merely "ratifying" the signing?

I've already said it's clear Chris is fine about the signing.

Maybe he's responding to those who have used those phrases about him?

No he has taken one for the team and what else could he have said? I explained my thoughts and they are just my opinion

This is what you said

So ill ask once again , which part of what CW has said DOESNT dispel boardroom interference in the signing of Ched Evans ?

No, you didn't explain your thoughts. What do you mean by 'taken one for the team'? There's more than one interpretation of that.

I think the problem there is that you and so many people are trying to see this as black and white. Why does it have to be "interference"? If McCabe went to Wilder with information about another player, let's say one that hasn't a history with us, and says he's spoken to him and thinks he would be able to get him to sign if Wilder thought it was a good move, would that be "interference" or would that be all at the club working together for the best for SUFC?
Wilder said it was ultimately his decision, not that no one else was involved in any way, shape or form. Because of the links and the past, it is unlikely that McCabe had no part in it at all. Or if not McCabe directly, others who had contact with him over the last years.

Apologies if ive misread or misunderstood your original quote adebo . But are you saying that McCabe has made the decision on signing Ched , CW has had no say in it and hes " taking one for the team " by telling us all that its his decision and his alone .

By the same token , you could claim that every signing made by CW has had some form of boardroom " inteference " because " ultimately " they say yes or no .

But lets be honest here Hamburg , " inteference " in this instance is all about CW being forced to sign someone whether he likes it or not .

So ill ask once again , which part of what CW has said DOESNT dispel boardroom interference in the signing of Ched Evans ?

None of it does. He's making clear it was ultimately his decision, and that he won't be dictated to.

To return to my question to you: why does it mean the board merely "ratifying" the deal?

Because the boardroom have absolutely no say in who CW looks at and the positions hes interested in strengthening in . You could ofcourse very plausibly maintain that Mitchell will have had a big say in CWs move for Ched , but he isnt a Board member .

The only part the Boardroom have played in this transfer and every other one that CW or any other manager have made is in saying a simple yes or no to CW's request .

I won't ever call Chris a liar. He sees the full picture i don't. I feel Chris was offered Ched and took him. But i don't feel he would have been his first choice but he is never going to say " i wasn't fussed but hey another striker is a bonus so happy days" is he? Leaving aside all the other much discussed Ched baggage the not so ringing endorsement on his signing says a great deal imo

In other words CW is lying ?

Which may well be true (in normal circumstances). But it can't be inferred from Wilder's interview.

For the record: no, it wasn't Paul Mitchell I was suggesting interfered.

Anyway, what's done is done.

Actually it's nothing like Barkley who still has a year on his contract to go. All Koemans bluster is irrelevant as he can't sell Barkley if he doesn't want to go.

In contrast Wilder can remove OSheas offer as soon as he wants and given he's gonna be a squad player I wouldn't be surprised if this is the end of him as Wilder has said many times before he has a value and sticks to it and wants players who want to play for the club not just the wages
