Does this mean we have to dislike him, or them a bit less now?

Well he has spent most of his career playing for them.

I'm sure the likes of Doyle and Collins performed to the best of their abilities while they were with SUFC, but players of their ilk really epitomised why we were stuck down in Division 3 for so long.

Add to that they were on 10 grand per week. Which is the amount some of our posters are saying is too much for Jagielka and Brayford.

We aren't going to play then for along time so it don't matter to me.

Anyway I hope Coventry can sack off SISU soon and we can all kiss and make up and be happy bunnies with each other. Got to much on hating Weeds and the Pigs to waste negative energy on them!

No sorry i will carry a strong dislike for them for as long as I'm around! They spoilt a game invaded a pitch and almost cost us a game and momentum when we needed it, sorry but f*ck Coventry, even some of the fans at the u18s game yesterday were unsporting Muppets not applauding our kids picking up a trophy after we applauded theirs picking up their medals, yes definitely f*ck Coventry!

For all his lack of height, Doyler was our "enforcer" when needed. Someone gave one of our lads a stiff tackle, Doyle would give it back a few minutes later.

Let's not forget his Cockney Walkabout to rub salt in the West Sham wounds at their place

It became so famous, even Vic and Bob paid tribute to it ......

Some did.

I thought he was a great competitor. Always gave 100% for the team and was a good player for us admittedly with some limitations.

He was the sort of player, similar to Monty, in that he would always have some who never took to him. I don't recall Doyle giving the ball away very often, that for me was his best asset. He kept possession well and was generally always available for the ball from the defence. I wish him well at Cov.

Wasn't there a bit of a kerfuffle on the pitch towards the end of match between the players?

I don't like unsporting behaviour. I think it's poor form for any set of fans not to find the sporting nature in themselves to applaud a team who have finished champions. Bradford and Chesterfield showed great dignity and sportsmanship when we played them at the end of this season. They were a credit to themselves. If there were Coventry fans at that game who couldn't find it in themselves to applaud a young U18's team for becoming champions then they really ought to be questioning themselves as to why they are bothering to watch this game at all? Because they aren't doing it because it's a sport, that's for sure.

If you sit near to me at any football match, you'll hear me shout "well played" if an opposition player does something good - and you'll see me applaud if they score a good goal. I appreciate skill and I enjoy watching it. I'm not so biased towards my own team that I can't appreciate good football from others. I also don't think that every goal we concede was because we did something wrong - sometimes it's because the other team did something right. I'm disappointed when others score goals against us - but it doesn't make me jump up out of my seat and start swearing and trying to blame someone on our side - or scream "Sort it art Wilder!".

I would say that I'm in the minority though.

We played a cup game in the 90s that was on TV. It was mid winter and it had snowed. Think it was against Villa. People on the Kop were chucking snow balls at the Villa players throughout the game. That was also unsporting .

At the end of the day we went up and got 100 points, they went down and might not have a football club to support . So seasons over... let it go

Exactly! We won that match and it didn't have any negative effect on our season.

There is no reason for any sane person to hold a grudge against Coventry long term, it was done for me as soon as the whistle blew and we had the 3 points.

I'm afraid I'm lining up behind Tyler on this one.

Fifteen years in the non league as 'Coventry City (2018)' might teach the wankers a bit of humility.

Doyle was well out of his depth in the Championship with us and was one of the many reasons we got relegated that season, but I have no doubts he grew to love playing for the team and he was one of the few players over the last 5 years to consistently put a shift in. Wish him well with what's left of his career.

There are only a handful of ex SUFC players I have any real antipathy towards and Doyle certainly isn't one of them.

He always put a shift in. Leave classless booing of ex-players to the pigs.

Personally hated Doyle, summed up exactly why we've been stuck in this division, admittedly he would have improved our midfield last season, but then so would my Nan! Very limited player and one of the slowest I've seen on the ball, always had to move it on to his left foot and would often ignore a simple 5 yard pass with his right to move on to his left and attempt a 30 yard pass. Just a shit Nick Montgomery
