Sometimes you can take odds at the bookies with a pinch of salt.

For example if I went to bookies and put £10K on Jags singing for newly promoted Donny Rovers in league 1.
Then Doncaster would immediately be odds on favourites as the next club he'll join.

In fact I've heard it said there the bets don't need to be that much.
Not sure if it's true but even if someone bet £50 on Jags joining Doncaster then they would instantly be amongs the favourites to be Jags next destination.

Also to be fair, even with massive investments I think paying Jags 5 times more than our other players would be poor value for money. We can spend funds on much better players.
the reason weve been linked is fairly obvious , big club on the up former player, Jags getting older , championship might be his best option for success
Dont see the Doncaster bit at all, Phil could join a big club in the championship but not league one

Can't believe this is still gonna by to be honest.
1. What he would cost isn't a sound investment for our club as there is no value in the short, medium or long term.
2. We can get several in for the cost
Depends what he does cost , if its 2 million or even 3 and he gets us up near the top be a sound investment
Hes not a 30 million pound player he will be 35 in August and too old for the Prem top 6 if Everton are looking to progress theyll want someone younger
too old for the prem but just fill a need for us

Nope, he's on about how bookmakers set the odds... re Doncaster..

I put a tenner on a horse at 40/1 last Saturday and the price dropped to 25/1 within 20 minutes, you can affect the betting market quite easily when a couple of bets go in for an outsider... you think £10 isn't a lot to move the odds, you'd be very wrong.. in this case they'll have been a few others taking the same punt as me.. but trust me you don't need thousands to affect the market..

If you put £5000 on Chesterfield signing him, they would have to enter the betting, it's nonsense that he'd sign for them, but that's how it works..

The Everton player can go fuck himself. I am as interested in him as he is in us.

Some of the Bladey sycophancy on this is nauseating. "Jags" "Phil".

Everton player.

Someone on here suggested that if he was on 50k a week....which is possible as an England player when his contract was signed....and halved his wages we could get close bearing in mind there would be no transfer fee.
If it were for 12 months....that would cost £1.25m....for 12 months.
No end value, and he gets that whether he is fit or not.

He's 35...injuries will happen. If anything the championship is quicker than the premier league too BTW.

I would rather we paid £1m for a good prospect who gets better with us and can offer a few years service before selling on if we fail to go up. Even then....if we spend £1m...pay 10k a week for 3 years...that's £2.5m! Twice the cost of a year of Jags but for 3 years service......but if the club do their job right they also have an asset worth at least what we have shelled out over the full three years!

It's throwing money away signing Jags. He alone won't get us up.
If he was coming for next to nowt, as a favour to repay the club and maybe take up an academy role....fair enough. But it would have to be very very low wages for me to think it a good deal.

The biggest benefit wed get is experience.but that can be priceless. Hes still fit and reads the game well be like when we took a similar warhorse ex man utd and villa centre back, and his knees were shot

Is that you Strappy?

Terry and Jagielka,CB pairing for LAFC in the MLS in 2018 after his last season at Everton and Terry's one year stint at West Ham

Totally agree.

Let's assume Jags is on a mere £50K a week.
Even if he agrees to take a massive pay cut to half his wage down to £25K. We still couldn't afford it.

This could only happen if Jags agrees a cut from £50K down to £10K with a massive promotion bonus.
Can't see anyone taking such a massive pay cut to join any club.

3rd favourites to sign him, does fuel the fire to be honest

Wilders not fannying about.

Jags big problem is getting himself in a room alone with Wilder, he'd sign then, he'd finish up wanting to walk over hot coals to sign.

I believe that the bookies make a book based on bets made to date.

So if I went in and bet £1000 that Jagielka was going to join Forest Green Rovers.
The way it works, is that Forest Green Rovers would appear amongst the official favourites.
What the bookies actually think doesn't come into it once a book is open.

Anyone saying 'We don't want him" or "We don't need him" need their heads looking at. Very recently he's been performing well for England and even more recently been putting in man of the match performances in the prem. If we could sign him for £15k a week it would be a bargain, £750k for the season and id give him the armband. He'd walk straight into the team and would be brilliant for O'Connell to learn off. Plus it would be a real signing of intent and completely blow the Ched bombshell out of the window.

Don't want him at the lane again hand of jags and all that

Yeh it still surprises me why more isn't made of it.

Jags has a clause that he can leave us on the cheap ( ensuring himself a massive personal pay rise BUT this can only happen if we are relegated.

Not saying this occurred, no idea but just imagine if an agent at Everton approached Jags agent and said if your club is relegated come and join Everton and we'll triple your wage, so Jags has to make sure we lost the final game.

I still can't understand why when the Wigan corner came in Jags appeared to deliberately stick his arm out for a clear and unexplainable handball. Put that with the other conspiracy theories.

are you being serious ?
We're you on fucking ketamine at the time or something ?

Ship me some of thy ketamine also. Not saying it was intentional but certainly inexplicable.

One of the most stupid handballs I've ever seen. What with O'Connor alongside him, we'd be good bets at any Volleyball tournament!

Can't see this move on so many levels. Profile of player not in line with what Wilder is bringing in. I think Jake Wright was an exception and came off beyond expectations.

Pass that ketamine. He was pushed, you know. Neither he nor the shy retiring manager said anything at the time, but he was pushed...

Tell us why, Everton player. You know where to find us.

What? Hasn't he? Oh.

wasnt inspired by betting trends though

Well said that is what I was trying to say but didn't make it as clear
