Jags is not a Sheffield lad and was far more a Warnock fan than a Blade.
All things being equal, and he did drop down to the Championship, my money would be on a move to Cardiff.

I think the move is because his wife is from Sheffield and also he wants to move back here.

Not good enough for the championship or for us? ;)

I was at Old Trafford last night. Free tickets from work.

Kept an eye on Jags for obvious reasons. He had Zlatan in his pocket, and marshalled the defence incredibly well. Scored a goal, got man of the match. I find it incredible some on here still think we're better than him. He didn't even look that slow (against Zlatan and Fellaini to be fair), but he was in Mason Holgate's ear all night advising him on how to deal with Rashford.

He'd be an unbelievable signing for us. You're absolutely having a laugh if you think otherwise.

This. 100%.

Still has PL qualities and I remain surprised he never ventured to a bigger club than Everton tbh.

UTB

Jags will be a millionaire.
At his age, money should NOT be a major factor. Playing regularly and enjoyment should be the forefront of his career now.
He's one injury away from retirement, and his biggest asset as a younger man was his ability to make up for errors with his pace and then get those blocks and tackles in.
So I'm going to say that for me, if we want to build a promotion winning squad we need to give lads like Jags a miss. He's got one maybe two seasons left if he's lucky enough to dodge a lengthy injury so why not spend our budget looking for the right player to add value and longevity to the squad.

Much as he was a fantastic player for us and Everton, if he hadn't been a blade fewer might look at him so favourably. We have tried the easy solution in the past, got us nowhere. So let's get the scouting network working very hard and identify the right player.

He scored again today.

Something tells me he may just stick around in the top flight a little bit longer.

Been to Goodison today, he sill looks more than capable to play in the Premier League. Nice celebration as well, never did any cartwheels when he was with us!!

Skybet have Jags at 6/1 to sign for the mighty Blades; 3rd favourite behind the MLS and Sunderland.

Got a sneaky feeling this might be the trophy signing Wilder has lined up. Jags has earned more money than he'll ever need, already, so what better way to cap a fine career than to help the club that got him going, put right the injustice that prompted his departure.

It's a circle of life thing!

If Jags re-signs, it will be a circle jerk thing on here.

I can't believe this is even being talked about. His wages will be huge and he's more than good enough to play another two years in the top flight.

As rumours/suggestions go this is one of the most ridiculous I've seen. Just clutters the forum.

3rd favourites to sign him, does fuel the fire to be honest

Totally agree.

Let's assume Jags is on a mere £50K a week.
Even if he agrees to take a massive pay cut to half his wage down to £25K. We still couldn't afford it.

This could only happen if Jags agrees a cut from £50K down to £10K with a massive promotion bonus.
Can't see anyone taking such a massive pay cut to join any club.

people said we needed investment
this would show its there
this would put Ched right on the back burner

Sometimes you can take odds at the bookies with a pinch of salt.

For example if I went to bookies and put £10K on Jags singing for newly promoted Donny Rovers in league 1.
Then Doncaster would immediately be odds on favourites as the next club he'll join.

In fact I've heard it said there the bets don't need to be that much.
Not sure if it's true but even if someone bet £50 on Jags joining Doncaster then they would instantly be amongs the favourites to be Jags next destination.

Also to be fair, even with massive investments I think paying Jags 5 times more than our other players would be poor value for money. We can spend funds on much better players.

i doubt it very much because I saw on sky sports news a few days ago, Jagielka has already said that he is looking forward to return of European football next season & I doubt he means a trip to Cardiff ;)

Jagielka will obviously have more lucrative offers than Utd's if money is his main driver. However, given that he's already a multi-millionaire, would the challenge of returning to Utd appeal more that a move to say a move to Sunderland, especially if a coaching aspect (badges, future role etc.) was included in the offer? He knows the club well and the opportunity may well suit him if he is indeed looking to move into coaching/management once he finishes playing.

I'd say it is still a long shot at this stage as it apparent from some of his recent performances (e.g. v Man U) that he's probably still good enough to play at Prem level in some form (even though he's lost a yard of pace), which would obviously favour clubs such as West Brom, Palace etc. However, if CW and the club can persuade him, it would be a huge signal of intent and I personally he'd be a great success, orchestrating things in a back three alongside JO'C and Basham/A.N.Other (Webster?).

Can't believe this is still gonna by to be honest.
1. What he would cost isn't a sound investment for our club as there is no value in the short, medium or long term.
2. We can get several in for the cost
