Bolton boycott

Linz....great you are sticking to your guns.
£30 is a lot for an away match and as you say you go to most of them and at some point a stand has to be taken. What you have done here is once again raise the arguement of how much we should pay for an away ticket. For too long now fans have been treated with great disrespect by the football teams they support. Sky money has allowed this to happen , how ever money which has poured into the game has very rarely been seen by supporters.
At some point football clubs may decide that £20 is plenty, until that happens we have to make the choice of whether we pay or not.

To those that decide to go, make your voices heard, for those that don't, make them heard at other away matches.

UTB

i'll admit i wasnt going to go when i found out how much the tickets were as i'm going out for my birthday the week after but i will be going now because i want to enjoy the day out having a drink in bolton and cheering on the mighty blades UTB FTP

I didn't realise WBA was £6. I remember there being a controversy the following season because SUFC increased Kop admission from something like £3.50 to £6 for category A upon promotion to top flight.

So us 40+ year veterans who want to go to the first match of the season as usual are now dismissed as plastic "day trippers" ??? Fuck me I've heard it all now.

I want to support my team, I WILL support my team, and I don't need anyone else's permission or approval to do it. Some people want to wind their necks in a bit with all this "Bigger Blade but still not going" bullshit.

If Bolton are charging too much for away fans, then so are Sheffield United, so unless you boycott the return fixture you're a bloody hypocrite, or is that extra £1-£2 where we draw the line at what's fair?.

I can't believe that just because I'm prepared to pay £30 to watch United in the first game of the new season under a new manager and with a new squad, I'm labelled as stupid or I have too much money, just so those who can't or won't go can justify themselves with a bit of group hug on here.

Well, it's up to you. Personally I can't wait for my "day trip".

Apparently Bolton is worth seeing more than Bayern Munich or Borussia Dortmund twice over.

And apparently some fans in England are perfectly comfortable with having the piss royally taken out of them

Much respect to anyone not standing for it.

Here's a thought. Those that want to go, go, those that want to make a stand, don't go. Everyone stop telling each other what to think and do and get on with their own lives. It's just football ffs, we're not trying to save the NHS.

^ This for me. Yes it's expensive, too much IMHO, but surely it's about whether as an individual YOU think it's worth it? As an example, I think the burgers are expensive at the Handmade Burger Company, but to me it's worth it as you won't get a better one in Meadowhell.

How many on about "shut up moaning" have done pretty every away match for the last decade?

Yeah, you probably don't mind so much as a one-off and by all means, knock yourself out, but when you want to go to every match, you start to think that you don't want to pay £30+ every other week.

I ask all the first-match-of-the-season-daytrippers to spare a thought.

Bigger Blade alert

WBA 0 - 3 Blades :)

Yes ?
Remember it well me and Mrs two foot got married we had our do at the platinum suite . had a good chat with Davey boy and deano when they got back start of a great season . PS I messed up thinking the season was starting the week after when I booked it . The bride was stunning .Oh and the £12 we saved not going that day has matured into £60 so Bolton tickets sorted :)

...boycotting this match will make fuck all difference because there are probably more that want to go than those that don't.

It'll make thirty quid of difference to my bank balance, if that's all it achieves, so be it.

I think you'll find my post was a response to one telling me to "shut up moaning" and "get behind the lads" - implying I was some sort of lesser fan for having the outright cheek to complain. Sorry for mentioning how many matches I go to as though it's some sort of taboo.

As for the rest, you've put words in my mouth which I haven't said.

Throughout, I have said if people want to go, they will do*. But seemingly people are quite excited about the new season and fairly sporadic away attendees are making an effort to go. Fair dos... my point is that 1 x £30 is more palatable than 20-odd x £30.

I suggest you wind your neck in. I've not told anyone not to go, just repeatedly explained my reasons for not in the fact of being accused of a part-timer who gives not two shits.

* I'm somewhat making a sacrifice to allow Foxy to go.

You can get a 12 month subscription to Blades Player for that Linz. Listen to it in Majorca whilst sat in a sea front bar with a San Miguel (other beers are available) and all that :)

nice to see who wares the trousers in s24su household :)

Yep - when your complaint is how much match tickets cost, and you buy every match ticket, why is that not a relevant point to make?

Because with you day trippers comment you are trying to belittle other fans who don't go every week...we should be quiet and stay in the corner while you have your big blade crusade. I don't go to every match due to other priorities but never thought of myself as a day tripper I thought I was a Blades fan

It is more relevant to the Blades that go wouldn't you say ,seeing as they pay the money. Im sure if say for instance your priorities were taking the kids to Graves park ,and there was a discussion about new swings they would let you take the lead ,why get so precious about this bigger blade shit ? It always seem the ones with 'other priorities' have a problem with it.
