One of your better posts Pommpey, at least you had to think a little and come 'off usual message' which you trot out time after time after time.
So, a bit like your 'this is the season. I am soooo excited. We MUST back the new manager and board. Long live the king' crap you spout whilst the majority sit waiting for text message updates of signings which never happen. Like that, eh?
The difference between us is that I believe supporting the club involves buying a season ticket and backing the team at games whenever provided with the slightest encouragement and never ever booing.
WARK! WARK! BIGGER BLADE ALERT! WARK! WARK! BIGGER BLADE ALERT! WARK! WARK!
It's being positive about a new manager and hoping he is the one who can turn the tide.
Like with Weir. And Clough. And Adkins. We hope. We hope. We hope. And we fail.
It's about trying to achieve a balance on this forum with positivity when appropriate so that the handful of posters like you do not gain any credibility, particularly amongst younger members who might start to believe you.
So, hang on. What you are saying is we should just lie to each other that Sheffield United is a successfully run, solvent matter with oiutstanding players and a solid management and a supportive, competent board. Tell you what. Feed that to the younger members of the board, why don't you? Just don't mention the fucking league position though. They might just call you a charlatan.
Our new manager is trying to unite every section of the club and you are trying to foster disunity, indeed anarchy. IMO you are acting just like a Wednesdayite insurgent would if he wanted to cause disharmony amongst us. I'm not saying you are a Wednesdayite but you're acting like a blue and white geeky nerd, tapping away his vitriol whenever there's the slightest setback in S2.
No. You're quite wrong. What I am saying is Kevin McCabe is our problem. He is our single point of failure. I am saying that the consistent entities of our demise from the heady days of Warnock have been the fans, and Kevin McCabe. You don't have to be Miss fucking Marple to figure that one out. What I am not saying is that our manager, which ever one McCabe hasn't yet sacked as a sop for his abject failure, is to blame. I hope I make that really, really clear. You, however, get all leaky-cock around this time of year when another poor fucker is sat in that office downstairs in the South Stand and he finally realises that the club's fortunes are tits deep in brown stuff and the promises made by one Kevin McCabe are nothing more than fanciful bullshit. Please tell me you understand all of this. Everyone else on here does.
McCabe said a few weeks ago that he was open to offers for his remaining half of the club "to the right buyer". By that he means a suitable buyer who will protect the interests of the club and the fans; he will not do 'a Philip Green' and let us fall into the wrong hands. He admitted mistakes and he coughed up loads of cash to pay off Adkins and his team, having previously paid off Clough and his team. Investment in the club was somewhere well over £8m just to do what we did overall. Bad managerial appointments are expensive and add to the costs and nobody regrets it more than McCabe, but in it's own way shows ambition actually.
Christ. You really are a bit deluded, aren't you?
McCabe wants rid of this pile of shit he has created. Trouble is, he has shovelled quite a bit of his dosh into the club and it has turned to fur, feathers and farts. If you can show me exactly where he has put £8million into the club (over and above normal operating costs) I will be grateful. Even if you said £1m was spent on an unneeded and zero-impact Desso pitch, that still leaves SEVEN million quid which you'd expect at least five of which to be regenerated in playing staff talent. Can you show me where this has happened with the people signed in the past eighteen months? Discount Brayford and Sharp. We might imagine they came as a payoff from Maguire and Murphy respectively. That leaves a lot of cash which people like me say, "What have you spent it on?" when he says, "I have put £8m into the club." Unless of course he is servicing debt, or worse still not being entirely honest with us. But honesty doesn't matter to you, does it? As long as it's June/July, McCabe has hired another sack-him-in-a-year and the sun is out you're all happy-fucking-clappy.
At this point in time, as Keen says above in his excellent post, "we are where we are and the club is where it is"" ; it's the only starting point we've got right now.
Yeah. Still in division one. Still.
You feel the need to agitate yet again at a time most people are hoping for unity helped by progress on the pitch. IMO every manager needs a full year to show what his imprint on the club can be and we have a Blade as manager who desperately needs the support of every fan in the attempt to unify the club. What you are doing is working against Chris Wilder and I sense you may even wish for him to fail.
Once again, I am not against Wilder, who seems like an honest, upright kind of guy. Quite what 'being a Blade' has to do with it mystifies me. Micky Adams is a Unitedite and was shit on toast. Harry Bassett wasn't and yet we had a fairly successful resurgence under him. Square that one.
It's not the time to go over and over all your list of things from the past yet again. It's time to back our new manager for a year at least. You're right I did support Clough and Adkins, I also supported Weir actually - it's the thing for a supporter to do when we have a new manager, not what you're doing Pommpey. Wilder has a good budget and he will spend it wisely, I'm sure of that. Let it all unfold and you'll only need to concern yourself with McCabe if the new manager fails. Give us all some space because we all need it.
Ooooh. You're in on the budget are you/ Tell me (and the assembled audience) how much of a game changing investment McCabe has given him, over and above those players we are struggling like fuck to get rid of? Real money figures please. Or shut the fuck up.
Try to post about football matters not your obsessions which are not current. By the way if we are top of the league by Xmas it does not absolve McCabe from his past mistakes and mis-management and all those wasted years, we will still be "where we are". He will leave one day but let's be careful what we wish for.
Feller, if we are top at Christmas, I couldn't give a fat donkey's whanger who is running the club upstairs. I will even say, 'Well done McCabe!' on here. But something in my water tells me we might be some way off that, given we currently have no central defenders to speak of and are sat wondering who will be daft enough to sign for a club with a shit chairman and no money.
Sheffield United being promoted is my obsession. Just that, in fact. What's yours?
