Just noticed Harry Maguire is on 93 league appearances for us and he only turned 20 in March.

If he starts the first 7 games of next season will that be a record?

Gary Hamson is the youngest to have made 100 league starts and I believe no Blade player have to achieved the same at a younger age than Gary. Born in August 1959, he made his debut for us in the 2-0 win at Cardiff (Stainrod scored both goals. Ex-Blade and Welsh International, David Powell was one of the policemen on duty in that match) in October 1976. His last appearance for us was in the 2-2 home draw against Leicester in May 1979. He made 108 league appearances (one or two as sub) before moving to L**ds when he was still a teenager

he was quality for us ,shouldn't have left ,didn't he score a winner v Liverpool at the Lane ?

I was at that game great goal. For some reason I remember it as a cup game, but at my age who knows?
deffo a league cup game. I am sure all their wall got booked for not retreating 10 yards at a free kick

Yes that is right. There were 4 or 5 booked. I think they were worried about Woody doing one of his short free kick specials so they hoped that being nearer to the free kick would put us off from rolling the free kick to Woody. The ref told them to move back but they didnt and he booked them all!

I get mixed up but didn't Terry Nicholl also score in a win v Liverpool ?

as crap as "take the" micky adams was, he did at least play kids and give harry, George and others their chance

Jimmy Hagan, once had the ideal solution to a player refusing to retreat to ten yards. When it became obvious that the ref was unconcerned. Mr Hagan blasted the free kick which, unfortunately, struck the defender in a very tender area. I'm pretty sure the defender counted them to make sure they were still there.

Good idea, however dear old Jimmy was using a proper football made of leather. The modern plastic balloon would do little damage!

Not just that, most fans these days would shout abuse/boo that he hasn't got the ball over the wall.

My Dad tells me that story as well.
You would get booked for doing that these days - unsporting behaviour or summat.

I was at that Liverpool game when Hamson scored the winner. Brilliant atmosphere.
It was a one leg tie back then.
We got thumped by L**ds at home in the next round - 4-0 I think. Shocking!
