>In fact all the games that stick in my memory are night matches
interesting point dave.. you're not wrong you know;)

We should lobby to have our next Play-Off Final kick-off at 10.30 at night, then we might have a chance.

TC sat on the ball blowing kiss's

Think it was the payment to Alan Ball hehehe but remember TC's goal against Liverpool 40 yards anyway just over the half way line.

Out of the goals, Michael Brown's stunner against Wednesday, and then recently new boy Jean Calve's goal.

Games, the 1 nil win against Arsenal and the Liverpool cup game was a good one.

Thumping Spurs 6-0

Now that was a good night . . one that seemed to get swept under the carpet despite us unfashionable minnows absolutely smashing them. I particularly liked Teddy Sheringham getting more and more angry. I seem to remember he had a couple of decent chances but sir Alan saved them with ease.

Some good ones posted above, but I'd add:-

Knocking Don Revie's Leeds out of the League Cup 1-0 on my 21st birthday (40 years ago last Wednesday),

but my favourite was beating Cardiff 5-1 to virtually secure promotion later that season.

(including the 6-0 against Spurs, and the Forest game - all night games)...... something special about night games

Most surreal moment as a blade - 14 September 2010. 93rd minute, score is SUFC 0 - 3 Scunthorpe. Steve Simonsen of the blades chests the ball down and passes it to the opposing player sitting on the halfway line. As the ball rolls perfectly towards his left boot I find myself on the south stand shouting. "Go on son, have a pop!"

When the ball eventually hit the back of the net everybody was staring at me like I was some kind of idiot. It was at this point I stood up, applauded the strike and said. "THAT'S A FUCKING REYT GOYL!"

My favourites in terms of games were the forest play off game fantastic atmosphere and Jag's goal against Leeds in the cup brilliant, but my all time fave Blades memory has to be standing at the side of the tunnel watching my son lead out his hero's onto the pitch, I was trying to video it but had tears streaming down my face. Also I met all the players too and got a kiss from Michael Brown what a day!!!

Pretty recent memory actually
Blackwell getting the sack!

All the fun of the fair eh. Now if I were to read between the lines on this, then it looks like you are trying to windup people to get a responce then I would have to conclude that this is not in the spirit of the forum and the post is pathetic. On the other hand you may have only been a Blade for a few months (ie not even a Blade when we beat the pigs last year even) seen some pathetic football and the post maybe just maybe justifyed.
Or you could be just SENILE, in which case you have my sympathy and I think it is sad for you. In which case you could read through this Thread and it may just help to jog your memory about some of the great times Blades have had before you became a Blade, what being a Blade is all about and the times you missed. If you were already a Blade then enjoy your reinvigoration and I hope the other posters have helped you to realise that Blackwell being sacked, whilst it could produce positives, it was a negative action as a whole and meant that the Blades have wasted time getting to where we want to be.
Either way I will take your disability into account when reading your other postings.

Mine- Lots of them, Coventry (thank Steelcity) Tonge and Liverpool, both Leeds especially the special 4 mins. and Play off Forest.
Hope that also helps Fiery.

You are one cool dude Clint.

Good Friday 1968 - team coach coming back from 2-1 victory at Anfield pulling in to give me and Cookie a lift back to Sheffield after the match

You've never mentioned that before........what happened??

3 -1 at Hillsboro ,not the first derby win I ever saw ,but at the time it came it was such a relief of emotion ,feckin brilliant

I've got to agree on this one as being my favourite memory but there are others that run it close, Northampton away Division 4 coming back from 1-0 down with 2 late goals to win 2-1, A Villa away 1989/90 a 2-1 loss but the way we went mental when vinnie scored our goal the first in umpteen hours of football was unforgettable, winning away at Luton 6-3, a tremendous alchohol fuelled day for me, plus loads of other memories. For individual moments its got to be Michael Browns screamer against Wednesday, Glynn Hodges falling over the advertisement boards, Dean Saunders and that throw in, John Pemberton and THAT throw in :D.

Memories:
Geordies (h) cup game, won 3-0, first game on the kop, made me make more effort to go regularly (aided by my age allowing me more freedom)

Swansea (h) 5-1 Agana bagged a trick, witnessed my first joyous pitch invasion

Liverpool (h) 1-3 first game after promotion, never heard so much noise, absolute bedlam on the kop when we scored

Forest (h) 3-2 first win, it was like we'd won the cup, first joyous pitch invasion I took part in

Wendy 2-0 1-3 double year, both games were magic atmos wise

forest (a) 0-2 relegating Clough and an established top flight team made me think maybe we were there to stay. Oh well.

Cov cup quarter final (both) - Marcello's 2 shirts, pens and Kelly being held aloft by fans at the end

Bradford (a) 0-5 real men against boys but one of the best games I've seen us control (not very SUFC), narrowly missed a kicking, watched Wendy lose on tv after the game

Fave game has to be Forest in the play offs, physically and mentally drained at the end.

Lots more beside these and on another day I might pick different ones. I like this tread, it shows that although every game cannot be a classic (not just for us) every now and then the Blades provide a lasting memory or sense of joy that will last forever.

Playing Honved and Hagen having a Blinder.Him again at Everton, think we won 4-0, we were with the Everton Fans in those days. At the end everyone at Goodison Cheered Him of the pitch, Happy Days.

There are so many that are memorable...here's a few to refresh the memory...

1988 Port Vale A - 3-3 draw - Frannie Joseph put us into an early lead before going 3-1 down, before Duff got one within a minute of their 3rd,and Deano's sublime chip over Grew after Dean Glover's short backpass.

1989 Mansfield A - the game Bob Booker became a blades legend in the Snow storm

1989 Bury A - Deano's header in the last 5 to win it on my birthday in the pissing rain!

1990 Oldham A - Deano's chip putting the icing on a classic performance on the plastic at Boundary Park, where Oldham hadn't lost for over 50 games before then, and one more step to promotion

1990 Leicester A - work it out for yourself...unbelievable day and night for ALL the right reasons! :-)

1990 Forest H - First win in 18 attempts - it was like we'd won the cup final.

1991 QPR - Bob Booker's finest hour as his header guarantees our safety in the 1st Division

1991/92 Pigs H & A - the Sunday Pig Roast and Bobby,Bobby,Bobby Davison!

The cup run of 1993 all the way to Wembley

Then more recently....Marcelo at Coventry,Reg's goal and Alan Kelly saving 3 pens on St Pat's Night in the replay, the game that never was at Highbury and breaking the record for the longest ever call on Praise & Grumble (I called from outside the ground, was the first one on,and was one for 12 minutes because they wanted an immediate response from a fan),the triple assault and the nights against Leeds (Jags Screamer),Liverpool and the Pigs (Brownie's goal especially),Pesch (OH MY GOD!OH MY GOD!) in the play off semi and the rollercoaster of emotion I rode that night....and then of course the promotion season including Unsy's goal v Hull and Webber at Cardiff....

I could go on...and probably will do...later ! :-)

One of my favourite memories was when we played Sevilla in a friendly in the 80's. They equalised to make it 1-1 really late and celebrated like they had won the European Cup they had a massive pile on in front of the south stand as i recall. Quality! Other than that there are loads, Des Walkers own goals v Forest, Pesky's 'Oh my god' moment to name but a few.

---------- Post added at 09:03 PM ---------- Previous post was at 08:59 PM ----------

I bet some on here were delighted with the result against Scunny and will count that as their favourite memory.

My 9 year old son crying his eyes out with joy as we were 3-0 up against The Shit and the Kop shaking as everyone was bouncing and chanting the Ring of Fire tune. As good as it got.

>Playing Honved and Hagen having a Blinder
heh.. cant top that one.. if we were playing top trumps like back in the day..that on would be a 'give'.. :)

It's between the 4 minutes of the league cup game against Leeds or the full game of the 4-0 win at Elland Road. I have a massive dislike of all things Leeds United, these two moments made me smile.......a lot:)

Unsworth vs. Hull - I knew we were there at last.

As Dangle just mentioned though, half time against the Pigs last season at t'Lane was special. 3-0 up and the BDM was about to be shattered forever. Even for those of us not born, we feel the pain of our fathers and grandfathers from 79. We hear them lot singing about it over and over and over and over ... What a shame we couldn't shut them up forever in the second half.
