Apologies if this has already been done (not read the thread). The Match of The Day highlights from our first season in the top flight baxk in 1990, with commentary from Barry Davies. The highlights started with a zoom on the clock of St Mary’s Church, and Barry recited “Stands the clock at 5 to 3, once more there’s football here to see”, a take on the poem Grantchester. Absolute class from one of the best who ever did it.

It was 1992 first Prem game v Manchester United.

Nothing beats "O' Connell coming innnnnnnn!!!!! THAT'S THE ONE. FORGET THE MATHS. THE PREMIER LEAGUE BECKONS, FOR SHEFFIELD UNITED".

Was the last game I got to watch with my mum before she passed away before the Premier League season.

Also though, one I've not seen mentioned. The cup tie with Tottenham at the lane. At that time, it was the loudest I'd ever heard the lane. I'm sure Mauricio Pochettino had said it was the loudest celebration he'd ever heard too.

"ADAMS AGAIN!!!! ABSOLUTELY EXTRODINARY. YOU JUST CAN'T WRITE STORIES LIKE THIS!".

Not commentary, but the 1988/89 video. Away at Notts County someone in the crowd shouts ''they're going through you Sheffield'' and we promptly score. I'm sure the same voice can be heard in another game on that tape. The home commentator wasn't the best, but his enthusiasm appealed to 15-year-old me.

Isn't it 'bloody brilliant Sheffield' - you hear it at Notts and Port Vale and maybe a couple of others. Always wondered who it was shouting it?

Loving this. Absolute memries….

Someone once told me who it was, but I can’t remember a name. Sounded like a bloke they’d dragged in off the street.

There was one, pretty sure when we beat Chester 6-0 and Deane and Agana got hat tricks; Agana is through on goal and the keeper comes out, that commentator goes something like:

"Agana through on goal, will he chip him..." Agana passes the ball past the keeper into the goal all along the ground - commentator: "and he does...."

:D

Daniel Mann is just a bloody brilliant commentator - by far and away the best on the TV. I can't understand why he doesn't get the big Sky gig on Sunday afternoons....still, better for us, as he has been the commentator on most of our best moments in recent seasons.

I second this, I also think he has a bit of a soft spot for us, or that's how it appears on the commentary when he's doing our games.
