The yellow was ridiculous. He was dragged down, no booking. 30 seconds later he drags someone down, his first foul, gets booked. Very harsh.
I think that bloke was actually booked. But that was 100% a yellow. It was like the referee decided to even things out when they absolutely weren’t equal fouls.

My biggest concern about him for next season would be in the formation. If we go to a 4, which we probably should, then it exposes more of his weakness’ as it does for Lowe.
But his technique is good, confidence shot, obviously and tactically naive but isn’t that was Wilder is supposed to be good with? Organisation, players knowing roles and confidence building?

His best game for us tonight, still work to be done on his fitness, but decent show

Thankfully he's only on loan. Even with Thomas going back he won't be kept on past that

Loan anyway isn’t it? Do wonder if he would be decent as a winger, actually has looked pretty good going forwards at times with his pace and think that’s what he originally trained as

Yes. His positioning is absolutely shocking. It's almost laughable. He's probably a conference national level wing back/left mid fielder. He'll probably go back to France where I have no idea of the level but in England? Absolutely crap
Thought about arguing about another stupid post from you. Put you om ignore instead.

Same for most the squad. I think that is Wilder's biggest challenge coming back, working out why most of this squad have hammy's made of string and look fucked after 60 minutes.

Loan with deal agreed if we want to make it perm.

Ah yeah, wouldn’t be opposed to it if it’s low fee and wages at this stage. Very decent debut under Wilderball given his opponent Bailey was one of Villa’s most in-form players (2G, 2A in last 4 games and ran through the Man City defence for their winner recently).

Wasn’t he a winger at Liverpool?

Larouci is the biggest example of why athleticism is paramount. Pace & strength allows him to compete and whenever he’s aggressive, steps in and intercepts he carries us up the pitch. I’m convinced he’d fly in the championship.

I was impressed with him tonight. He stood up to his opponent, was quick and had something about him going forward when he had the chance to do so.

Two things he needs to work.on though (and which im sure CW and the coaching team will already know about). Firstly, he needs to get fitter as he was blowing out of his arse when he was subbed. That will come with time on the training ground and game time. He's not been overly used recently so that is understandable TBF and Villa had clearly targeted out left hand side so he had a lot of work to do. The second thing he needs to improve on is having a starting position closer to his man. There were times that he was giving his man way too much space to control the ball, and take a touch before running at him. If he gets closer, he makes it so much more difficult for his opponent to get into a position where he can run at him and cause him problems. That is just positional sense and again comes with experience and can be coached.

The main thing is that the basic ingredients are there for him to be a very good player. He just needs some coaching and increases levels of fitness. If you can't see that he has the makings of a good player then I think you are missing the bigger picture.

All those saying he did well tonight..the moment he went off they stopped dominating the game down the left.

What a happy coincidence I guess.

20 league games left. Let's see how many he gets!

Thought he was better but still not good enough. He needs to play tighter to his man. Hopefully it's a confidence thing and he will improve but for now not good enough.

No disrespect to him, but we brought on Max Lowe, not Maldini. Do you really think that when we took Larouci off they thought “that’s it their left hand side is covered now”

Just a shame he puts in a performance like that then is likely to miss most of next month with AFCON

No like you say Max Lowe is hardly world class but they weren't targeting him in the same way.

Playing devils advocate, but maybe they realised they weren’t getting anything down our left hand side so switched to the right instead?
Some coincidence. would like to see heat maps and if they are broken down to 10/15 minute spells....

What the moment we brought on Hamer and Mcatee - our actual attacking threat. Yeah coincidence.

Thought Larouci was defensively positioned better than Lowe who kept getting drawn in chasing players

Whereas Larouci stuck to the shape and stayed wide throughout.

Also some nice intercepts and progressive carries.
