Mick Mcarthy has gone on record as saying that Greg Halford can leave Wolves if he fails to impress this close season.Would you have him back at the lane if the price was right?:D

YES YES AND YES..........a million times over. I doubt United could afford his fee or his wages quite frankly.

At £1M he would be well worth it and I think we would have to pay that to get him. If United are interested they would probably try and loan him again.

yes, this is a no brainer.

He is better than what we have got in several positions. Additionally he is a utility player and could be very useful with our frail, thin squad.

It wont happen imho.

We aren't in that sort of market anymore (temporary I hope)

Even if we managed to find the £1m, we wouldn't be able to find his wages.

I'm of the opinion it's time to move on from him and the continuing regurgitation of the Lord Brown stories.

From reports last night, it seems this right back Calve fella played really well. Therefore, take the plunge and get him signed (provided we can meet his wage demands), along with Temouryan, another cb and a gk and I'll be satisfied.

I'd certainly have him back, and I'm sure one of our webmasters would gladly dip into her pocket to top up his wages for the joy of seeing "Sexy Greg" back at the lane :D

I wasny trying to re-gurgitate astory 58.Merely asking fellow Blades the question. If he was available at the right price would be happy to seehim back.

Does Linz know about this..?

Provided we could find a position for him and stick to it. We bought him as a right back, his preferred postion is centre mid and we played him predominately out wide right and makeshift centre forward.

The questions would be, where would KB play him and where does everyone think he would be best suited given the players we have in the squad now ?

Gut feeling is for the likely money, KB has other (and cheaper) options available to him.

I would love to see him back, but I have to agree with the majority of posts here in that we may well not be able to afford him :(

The answer is Yes, but have to agree with the Fleety above.
The days of finding his amount of wages has gone but the the other clubs are no better placed so it could only happen if Halford was prepared to take a wage drop or could find no other club to fund his life style.
Very useful player reminds me much of Madely at Leeds many years ago.
UTB

without doubt - yes.

will it happen? no

as already mentioned, he earns too much, we cant pay, he doesnt have to leave wolves if he doesnt want too and it pains me to say, but blackpool could probably offer him more than us, are days of spending decent money are over.

It would be an interesting test of our finances because I know that we agreed to take him in a deal that saw Killa move in the other direction but they couldn't afford Killa's wage demands, not the other way round.

I get the opinions of others about the fee/wages but tell me who in the Championship can afford him? If he is leaving Wolves Reserves then he is definitely not going to any Premier League club other than Blackpool. He doesn't suit West Brom's style and Newcastle won't need him. But Blackpool need a few guarantees and Halford's performances as a PL player at Wolves make him a gamble for them.

So we move onto the Championship. Not Hull or Portsmouth. Maybe Burnley if they want him. QPR obviously - Warnock tried to sign him for us several times - and Forest maybe? Other than that, there isn't anybody. He knows United, he knows Blackwell (and seemed to play for him better than anyone else since he left Colchester) and he seemed to enjoy it here. He knows the fans like him. Greg seems to be a player who needs to feel loved and I think he'd consider United if we were interested. Sure, we can't afford the fee but Donny couldn't afford Sharp either - player pressure can work wonders. I wouldn't count out a loan move for him to BDTBL.

Blackwell wants to play 4-5-1 away (see OS article today) and I think Greg suits that. He is primarily a midfield player who can play defence - tick - but he showed he can get forward and score/create with us - tick again. His versatility would also make him a valuable member of the squad. I remarked several times early last season that for all the hoo-ha about the Kyles and Beattie leaving, Halford was the player we were missing most.

Blackwell wants to play 4-5-1 away (see OS article today)

This makes me feel disappointed, but not remotely surprised.

4-5-1 doesn't necessarily mean defensive, although history tells us otherwise, but......

Ertl, Monty, Britton, Quinn, Cresswell

or

Ward, Ertl, Britton, Monty, Yeates

which gives us a completely different approach with the wide players getting forward more like a fluid 4-3-3 which the better teams seem to be playing these days.

No i would much rather have Rob Kozluk in the starting 11!!!!!!!!!!! In other words YES

I'd rather have Kozluk at RB and Nosworthy at CB than Nosworthy at RB and Bruce at CB.

Obviously having Lowton, Gilbert or the French lad (if he's good enough for a contract) at RB is preferable to either option but that's why we've got all these triallists.

Ooops...wrong thread!

I think Greg's time with us was one of those 'Michael Brown' moments where a player just clicks and has not reproduced that form before or since so, while we have fond memories of GH and that season, he seems to have settled back into the form/attitude where several managers have tried with him and failed.

Plus, you need only one season in the PL and you're a millionaire. Just think of Claude Davis, Akimbye etc. honest hoofers who have become very well-off. Therefore, I'm sure Greg would rather sit on Wolves' bench while he sees his contract out.

Shows how far we have sunk really doesn't it? Happy with make shift no marks and never have beens. Shocking.

Good job Bladesway wasn't in charge when we were looking at a young striker from Doncaster all those years ago.....

Very happy to sign "young" talent but I have seen too many Patrick Suffos come and go to get excited at the next trialist passing through. Our fall from grace has been somewhat spectacular. Upwards of £15m of transfers in and a massive wage bill cut, and what exactly have we signed to replace? Chedders plays pop up front and uh, well nothing actually.

But if your happy with the hotel coming along well and developments all over the globe then get your Vuvu's out and blare along.

Can't wait to see Kozzy back and our Maltese superstar banging 25 goals in this season can you?

When did Halford actually play right back for us. If I remember correctly it was never.
More than happy to have Halford come back to switch with Ward like he did in 2nd half of the play off season.
Unfortunately Henderson being injured probably means we won't be able to raise the cash to pay his wages. It would also add much needed height and a sign of intent from the board
