Would you take him back.If the price was right?

I think Greg's time with us was one of those 'Michael Brown' moments where a player just clicks and has not reproduced that form before or since so, while we have fond memories of GH and that season, he seems to have settled back into the form/attitude where several managers have tried with him and failed.

Plus, you need only one season in the PL and you're a millionaire. Just think of Claude Davis, Akimbye etc. honest hoofers who have become very well-off. Therefore, I'm sure Greg would rather sit on Wolves' bench while he sees his contract out.

I doubt he would if he could play and get the same wages. alot of loan wages are split 50/50 and although I understand your point about Lord Brown I think you always know your going to be sometimes frustrated and sometimes amazed by what he does. Wolves can't afford to wait for the latter but we can. We lack players who can make a difference

Bloody Hell Fleets, you're in optimism overdrive today.

When Hoofy talks about a "fluid 4-3-3" he's thinking 4-6-0.

Exactly. I can't believe anyone who has seen us play even one away game under Blackwell would seriously believe that anything other than packing the midfield with one up front is likely.

4-3-3 as referred to by Fleety is one of these formations - like 3-5-2 - that you can only play if you have excellent players who will play the difficult roles. As we have no fit attacking midfielders on the books, it ends up as 4-5-1. So we draw a lot away and:

- if we have a great defence, we win quite a few as well (see 2008-9)

- if we don't have a great defence, we lose most of the other games (last year)

As we will not have a great defence this season barring a miracle or superlative use of the loan market which I suspect to be beyond KB, expect to draw a lot, lose a lot and win a few away, and of course not get in the top 6 as a result. Groundhog day...

To be honest, if Halford had played for us last season he could've played anywhere and done a job.... come to think of it - He played most positions

and the one he didn't play particularly well but Hoofy persisted with was wide right. Too often we played Halford and Quinn wide which meant no threat in behind the full backs.

As sheffielder pointed out he was Ok toward the end of the season (when he was swapping with Cotterill not Ward) because Cotts was getting in behind the full backs and so Halford didn't need to.
If we signed him it would mean Wardy sat on his arse every away game and Halford lobbing harmless crosses in from 30 yards away from the byeline and hurling long throws in anywhere in their half.

I'm saying it can work but not necessarily the way KB approaches it !

I think it's becoming a bit 'emporers new clothes' with Gregory. He was exceptional in a few games, good in some but also non-existant in plenty. To say he had the same impact as Browny is way way over the top IMO.
