Will our wage bill even be that big? With the loans returning there's only really Souza, T Davies and Hamer left that I'd expect to be on top money.
It'll be about £35-40m l think. It was around there in 21/22, 22/23. But income (outside of transfers) will drop by £25m this next season so either there needs to be big owner cash injections of something has to give

I think people are a bit delusional if they expect players to be massively arsed about the fans and the club they play for. They’re professionals and jump from club to club based on their personal needs.
This is absolutely spot on.

It's no different to anybody else who works for a company.

How many of the people on here really care about the company they work for (assuming they're an employee and not an owner), and who wouldn't jump ship if a supposedly better offer came in.

I was in your neck of the woods yesterday Rodders, driving through Calverley, en-route to Keighley. Thought about popping in to have a glass of lemonade spritzer with you on the patio and listen to the match. :)

I went to Keighley a month or so back to meet the in-laws for some lunch along with some extended family. After finishing lunch I used the baby changing / disabled toilet and was aghast to see the bowl / seat was caked with an absolute anaconda of a log. The smell was horrific, not much helped by the prevarication of my 3 year old lad, who was much perturbed by the presence of the unsightly faecal accoutrement. The railway is a very pleasant trip though as is Haworth, but Keighley remains on the shit list in more ways than one.

I’ve long since moved up the hill JB, though I often shed a tear of nostalgia when I drive past my old flat “Muscle Towers”.

FYI, none of them have a release clause for non-promotion. Hamer did negotiate a new contract in JTW but that wasn't included

I think the majority of the team are better individuals than the team that went up before, they are able to give most teams a game even though they don't seem to have any system or plan when on the field. We need a coaching staff that are ready for the new, hopefully higher level that we should be aiming for in order to fine tune some talented individuals if we can keep hold of them. Let's not cave in to the first offer that comes along, if most are on contract sell the club to them, that we are going to go places together, sadly with the present coaching team I can't see it happening, over to you our new owners

I would hate to see any of that list go.
Anel looked superb at the start of the season, and is clearly better with a better partner than Robbo.
Hamer is inconsistent but a lot of great players are.
Souza HAS been a colossus, just the injuries getting in the way. Certainly would be on the radar of promoted clubs, or even fit in at the Fulham/Bournemouth type of PL club.
Cooper is doesn’t even need qualification.

Regardless of the players what we need is a new coach who has modern ideas and can get whatever players we have to move the ball quicker.

Keep Wilder but get a young assistant in to replace Knill

It’s looking increasingly likely that we’ll be a Championship team next season, which will mean selling some of this season’s better players. Likely departures will be:

  • Hamer
  • Sousa
  • Ahmedhodzic
  • Cooper (if there’s a release clause)

Having watched them all season, and although we’re third, this team of players just don’t do it for me. There’s no connection with players and fans and I think this went downhill since Arblaster got injured. I get the impression these players, in general, just don’t care enough.

Hamer - sporadic individual brilliance, but constantly gives the ball away and gets booked for petulant fouling so often he’s teetered on another 3 game suspension for an accumulation of 15 yellow cards, which I don’t ever remember seeing in a season before. Already been unavailable for 3 games due to suspension. His commitment/professionalism is questionable, going to watch Leeds pre-season was a terrible look (don’t care if Bogle is his mate).

Sousa - Could be a colossus at this level, but he hasn’t been. He’s been injured for too many games and doesn’t look assured in possession to me.

Ahmedhodzic - Not strong enough in the air, feel he’s been at fault for a lot of goals this season and seems to get away with any criticism. Not good enough in possession when passing around the back, his second touch is normally a tackle.

Cooper - Been solid, can only remember him being at fault for 1 goal and it didn’t cost us.

Would you be sad to see any of our players leave? For me, Cooper is the only one I wouldn’t want to see go, I wouldn’t be bothered about the others.
Hamer will join cov in the PL.

Decent shout that.

If Coventry are promoted then it’s likely they would want Hamer back.
Think they’d pay £20 million too…..but could imagine Leeds also wanting Hamer.
Agree Hamer is our best player and supremely talented but he also had games where he’s very quiet and looks quite ordinary,
So it’s not the disaster it seems if Hamer leaves, would rather build around Arblaster and Peck in midfield.

Obviously Leeds will need a new goalie….suspect they’ll make enquiries on Cooper and Ramsdale.

I was en-route to Riddlesden, to be more accurate, then had a pleasant walk with the dog around the grounds of East Riddlesden Hall, before my next stop in Shepley. Was going to call in at Haworth and possibly yomp up to Top Witherns, to see where Kate Bush wrote Wuthering Heights (🙈) but time was against me and the Blades result had sapped any remaining enthusiasm to do anything apart from crack on and get home .

What modern ideas are you talking about?

Now THIS is the future direction for S2 4SU & the ‘gold standard’ for all future posting

Just my view and you can tell me to piss off and keep my views to myself 🤣:

Cooper - one of the calmest keepers we’ve had. A really excellent buy. I wouldn’t even consider selling him.

Anel - he always makes me feel likes he’s a nice to have rather than a must have. He looks good on the ball and has a bit of pace but there’s always that nagging feeling. If I could sell Anel and bring in a fit again Souttar I wouldn’t hesitate.

Souza - he’s all action and started the season well. I’m not sure, apart from a few games with Blaster, that he’s forged a really good partnership with anyone. He’s been sound at this level defensively but I feel he could do more with the ball. The game time is doing Peck a lot of good. Would Peck and Arblaster and about 15m in the kitty be worse then Souza and Arblaster? Peck gets stuck in more than I thought he would and he’s more progressive on the ball.

Hamer - on his day he’s our
Best player and match winner. He falls short of talismanic though. I mean, no disrespect but where was he the last three matches? He might have found Rak-Sayki but it was the latter who did the hard work. He sis capable of doing great things like at Coventry. I’m not convinced he always stamps his authority on games. Plus his role still doesn’t convince me. If we play 4-2-3-1 then I’d rather two wingers. I’d like to see BBD and JRS in those roles. I think O’Hare does a better job at being a 10. Maybe he’d be better box to box or as an ‘8’?

Riddlesden is nice and I’ve been to a couple of weddings at East Riddlesden Hall. Good spot.

Fully agree, only Cooper would be difficult to replace. I’d rather see Arblaster and Peck as our middle 2 than have Souza in there. Souttar could replace Ahmedhodzic and if a natural left winger (who helps his fullback) replaces Hamer, the team would be more balanced in my opinion.
