Surely we need a right back more than a left back
Personally think we need two new players in each area with defensive cover for left and right positions

i take the view freeman and baldock are of a decent enough quality for a season in the premiership and should be allowed the opportunity to complete for the role.

stevens is excellent but we have no backup. stevens can also cover for o’connell. a left back is what we should be looking at.

Maupay under-performs his XG and is relatively low on the goal conversion rate compared to other top Championship strikers. If you assume we’re going to create far fewer chances for strikers next season, he may not be the way to go.

Maybe we could invest the £20m on research to reverse the ageing process on Billy Sharp...his stats are obscene for this year.

I see it the other way around. Attacking players are more expensive, and more sought after, therefore I’d must rather leave our loan spots open for them. £15-20 million on a promising but unproven forward or £8-10 million on a promising and known keeper.

For once I agree with Ricky , I think we need at least 8 players to move the squad forward and then another 2-3 spare for January if required.

Exactly, some Championship club will probably spend £20 million on a player in the next season or two, but we can't of course despite being in the Prem.
For what it's worth I don't think Brentford will get £20 million for him, £12 million, maybe £15 million tops. I'd also look at Canos as well as a long term replacement for Duffy

We can also buy him cheaper because we are higher placed than Brentford. If we go in for him as a Premier League club, he'll stamp up and down and sulk until he gets his move, Brentford will have no choice
