Pembo went to Crawley? I mean really?, maybe he'd be interested in taking some of the lads who don't figure next season on loan? I think the first team football, under the manager they are used to would do alot for their development.

It would be a blow for the academy and a medium to long term problem, but not the end of the world. As you state JL, it might even help us in the short term. I would be sad to see him go, but if he wants a first team coaching role then we should not stand in hyis way. He has done a good job and will be difficult to replace, but we have bigger things to worry about.

Would he want the kids on loan or sign permanent? And given our finances. He could cherry pick the ones with the biggest potential.
Our biggest problem is finding a replacement with the same ethos & playing style. Maybe promoting from within is a better option?

I personally think it would be disasterous if Pemberton left, there are only two ways to build a successful team in modern football. You either spend several hundred million pounds or you invest in creating a quality youth academy.

I've always consoled myself that despite the first teams underachievements, we still have one of the best academys in the country, which gives hope for the future. (I realise what happens to the individual products of the academy is a whole new debate!)

As such I think the head of the academy is almost as important as the first team managers role. Pemberton has shown himself to be an excellent coach, instilling discipline and the standards throughout, whilst achieving excellent results and Utd should pull out all the stops to keep him.

Totally agree - a disaster if he left.

It could be a very big deal if the plan was to develop and keep our own young talent.

As the plan is to develop and sell our own young talent, it will have little effect, as we only tend to keep the good players for a year or two at most anyway.

It will be a disaster already dropped our knickers for Crawley by allowing them to interview Pembo today. Will be a small fee involved and Pembo will be replaced by a no mark as a part of the cost cutting exercise thus making a further contribution to the self-fulfilling downward spiral. When Crawley beat us a couple of times this year we will be looking enviously at a progressive club moving into the Championship for the first time.

If he wants to go, let him go. If not let him stay. If he goes, let Morgs manage the academy. Sounded like he did ok with the reserves and he'd definitely sort out any of the youngsters with attitude problems. Players with a good level of skill, which should be a pre-requisite for joining the academy, combined with Morgs' influence and attitude could be immense.

I don't think Morgs has the requiredcoaching qualifications to head the Academy as per the new statuses of Acadamies this season.

If I was him, I would hang around at the lane for another 5 months and apply for the potential manager position here

Thats it look on the bright side. Wheres Danny going anyway?

He hasn't got a good record for his second season in charge.

Yes, you could say that could change this year but that's like saying we will win a PO final.

On the bright-side tho, the majority of his signings have been good so far so maybe those will compensate for re-signing Hill and Porter
