Update on this difficult time. Yesterday I had the appendix out and although in pain now but it’s the right sort of pain a getting better sort of pain. The Consultant surgeon said it was appendicitis and they had to clear out a lot of goo. When this all started i was told a tumour but thank God it was an appendix. He said the appendix was well swollen pressing against the colon. No follow up appointments needed just got to be careful for a few weeks. He confirmed no nasty stuff.
I would like to thank all of you for your wonderful messages of support. The cloud has finally lifted
Looking forward at last UTB FTP
I had a similar situation 11 years ago on May day bank holiday.
I thought I had pulled a muscle in my stomach but the pain was getting worse as the day wore on so I rang NHS direct who immediately arranged for me to go to a walk in centre and see a GP.
He had a feel, and said "I could just give you some pain killers and send you home, but if I did I wouldn't be doing my job properly"
So he immediately sent me off to Jimmy's for tests and that was that.
They thought I had appendicitis and so they wanted to remove it but when they started the procedure they found so much gunge around it that they actually left the appendix attached and just cleaned out as much of the mess as they could.
The surgeon that did the operation said my insides were such a mess that it looked like a post op situation and that he left my appendix as he couldn't remove it without risking damage to my lower bowel which would give him and me much more of a problem.
He also said that he had found nothing cancerous which came as a bit of a shock to me because it had never crossed my mind that he might find something!
8 days later, after having had a course of intravenous antibiotics to completely clear all the infection they sent me home with my appendix still intact.
Really pleased that all has worked out well for you too.
