A lot has been said about us wasting money, we are brainwashed and programmed into a belief that spending money is not the way to achieve success
But failing to spend money is a sure fire way to failure
Of all the supposed millions we have supposedly wasted, how many times have United signed a player that made United fans sit up and say WOW !
Very very very few times because they spent money on crap.
This is not the same as spending money on good players
It just seems to me that because we have signed too much shit for too much money in the past we are no longer prepared to spend decent money on anybody.
The trick is to get the RIGHT players, and if an excellent manager has identified these players, and these players are not ridiculously overpriced they have to be signed
The manager has identified two players who he seriously believes can play in the Championship and seriously believes can improve our first team, and the club won't spend £700,000 on Leonard (reportedly) and probably a similar amount on Holmes.
Wilder is the Chairman's dream, he's told we will not overspend on anybody and he accepts it and pretends to agree with it
If the board released a bit more cash Leonard and Holmes would be signed by now regardless of what Wilder says
The relatively pathetic amounts we are talking about to try to get two LEAGUE ONE players in is worrying me now, it has nothing to do with Wilder's stance and more to do with the boardrooms knowledge that they can get a stress free and cheap season without too much abuse as long as we just hover above the relegation zone, preferring to put their faith in Wilder's motivational skills than do something positive themselves.
