Will we send Wednesday down?

No. Chansiri and his associates sent them down before a ball was kicked this season.

Relegating a team of kids and desperate loan signings, which was absolutely inevitable, is a hollow victory, if that.
This means if we win the Derby , we will be hurting children. Have i read that right

They pretend it doesn't matter at all who sends them down as they are down anyway.

The reality is if the situations were reversed they'd never stop talking about it - and probably have an anniversary dinner every year. The chance to mathematically relegate your rivals is very rare. Would Spurs fans be "not bothered" if they were relegated by Arsenal at the Emirates instead of away at Brentford?? Would neither of the Manchester clubs be bothered if they were relegated by their rivals? I doubt it very much.

Claiming that they "aren't bothered" is a deludamol-fuelled defence mechanism. Of course they are bothered. Very bothered. In fact they are so bothered that many won't be attending or watching the game. They'll be putting their trotters in their ears and claiming that they have to do the garden or visit Auntie Flo or something.

Plus there's the fact that if they don't score v Millwall and we keep a clean sheet they will break the record for the longest number of games without scoring a goal since English football began. That's not good. And they'll also become the EFL record breakers for the worst losing streak (12 in a row). Their record will be worse than Rotherham (also on 12) as Rotherham at least scored some goals.

I'd be worried if I were them.

Im not overly concerned whether they are bothered or not about who delivers the coup de grâce.

The fact is that i would like it to be us who beat them (handsomely) and relegate their sorry arses. Hopefully to not be seen again at the Championship for a long long time.

They can witter on and give a thousand reasons why they arent bothered. But in truth they will be if only for the fact that they will know that Unitedites like me will be laughing at them and really enjoying giving them a big fat R against their name in the table. Everyone knows they are already down, but as Barry Bananarama once sang 'it aint what you do, its the way that you do it'. Getting relegated at your fiercest rivals ground with a heavy loss, sure aint the way to 'do it'. And that matters to us....and them. 😋

Typical chat with pigs
Pig: I'm not bothered about that thing, you know
Blade: What thing?
Pig: Relegation
Blade: Why mention it?
Pig: Because i wanted to tell you i'm not bothered
Blade: Ok thats great. You seem to be coping well what with that and the Admin.
Pig: You seem to be obsessed with us. But yeah Admin is Great thing
Blade: I just take a passing interest in the comedy show going on with our neighbours
Pig: We'll be back and we'll take the Prem by storm when we get our new owner in.
Blade: You've a long road ahead with relegation, more points deductions and the new owners not guaranteed to pass the EFL test
Pig: Relegation was confirmed by Chansiri in the summer. Why do you keep going on about it? The EFL are bent for delaying the process. I'd have Bord approved in a day
Blade: Well, relegation is almost certain but its not done yet. It can get confirmed in the Sheffield Derby, which would be funny. And the EFL checks are due process
Pig: I'm really not bothered about relegation. We're having a party at the Lane though to show you how unbothered we are
Blade: But i thought it was confirmed in summer when chansiri fucked you?
Pig: yeah it was, but if you confirm it by beating us we need to show how unbothered we are by partying as that is the best form of unbotheredness going.
Blade: Ok. we'll probably just celebrate the win in whats been a really shite season for us.
Pig: Not as shit as ours. We've been shitter as the media have given loads of coverage of it
Blade: That's not a great thing. You've broken records for not scoring and haven't won a game for so long... When we were in the PL and had a bad season you said we were an embarrassment. Surely you're more of an embarrassment now you're doing it in a league below?
Pig: No because you had parachute payments and PL money. Our situation is different as Chansiri and the EFL have fooked us. Thankfully we have a really good Administrator and we're getting by by Bord.
Blade: We didn't spend as we were cutting our cloth so we didn't break the rules or go into Admin. And good luck if Bord the gambler takes over
Pig: You got 2 points deducted for cheating. Bord's learnt from the mistakes he made with your recruitment. Only way is up for the Wednesday. WAWAW
Blade: You got 18 points deducted.... thats not cheating? And there's no evidence that Bord will do any better with you
Pig: Chansiri cheated us fans. We deserve better. The Admin team wouldn't approve Bords if he wasn't going to be the best owner ever. Were on the up.
Blade: League one is down
Pig: Yeah, not bothered about that. We'll piss that league and take 1million to wembley again in the play offs when we finish 6th even with -15 points
Blade: That's not pissing the league, thats getting very lucky
Pig: Well what do you know? we'll pass you on our way when you go into admin.
Blade: Lets see about that, looking forward to seeing you lot cry at your relegation party in a couple of weeks
Pig: You're Obsessed with Wednesday

There are 7 league games before we play them next.
So far this season, they've managed 0.46 points per game, so if that continues would be on -3 or -4
On current form, 4th bottom will be on about 35/36 points with a far superior goal difference.
When we play them next, if they are on -4 and were to win all their remaining matches, including against us, they can only get to 38 points.
In that scenario, if we were to beat them, we would send them down!!
I'm more concerned about us going down.

It will go down in Pig folklore. The day 5000 of us had a party at the Lane to show Dem Blunts how not bothered we were about them relegating us. Our amazing party - the biggest ever seen on an away end -cut their celebrations short and they all went home depressed after realising that we're by far the bigger club.

They’re shitting it.
The crossed blades hang over them like twin swords of Damocles ⚔️

Updated from here with the yesterday's results

The Let's-Send-Them-Down requirements
  1. As it stands, Wednesday (1990) are 39 points from safety with 45 to play for

  2. They will need to go into the match on the 22nd between 40 and 42 points from safety. Fewer than 40 and they could mathematically stay up after the Derby, more than 42 and they will already be down

  3. The side fourth from bottom therefore needs to end the day on February 21st on a minimum of 33 points plus however many Wednesday gain in their next two and a maximum of 35 plus Wednesday's points from next two matches

  4. West Brom picked up a point yesterday while Leicester somehow tossed away a 3 goal lead to lose 4-3 at home and Oxford were well beaten by Norwich

  5. This means that, assuming Wednesday lose against Millwall, the gap to the teams going into the match on the 22nd will be
    1. Oxford: minimum 35, maximum 38
    2. Leicester: minimum 40*, maximum 43
    3. Blackburn: minimum 40*, maximum 46
    4. Portsmouth: minimum 40, maximum 49
    5. West Brom: minimum 41, maximum 44

  6. Leicester (1 match), West Brom (1), Blackburn (2), Portsmouth (3), Charlton** (3) all need to take as many points from the matches before the Derby as Wednesday get at the weekend, in addition to the below

  7. If more than three of the four sides currently on between 32 and 34 points gain three or more points in their fixtures before Feb 22nd than Wednesday do against Millwall, Wednesday will get relegated before they face us
    1. Portsmouth play United (H), Charlton (A) & Millwall (A)
    2. West Brom play Coventry (H)
    3. Leicester play Stoke (A)
    4. Blackburn play QPR (A) & Preston (H)

  8. *as has been discussed to death elsewhere, Blackburn and Leicester have to play each other on the final day so there is no way that both can remain, as they are currently, 39 points clear of Wednesday

  9. **Charlton only come into the equation if Portsmouth beat them on the 17th and Millwall fail to beat Wednesday, as they're currently 43 points clear

Can someone cleverer than me tell me what that means

Dont be.

I could take a walk later and a small comet could come out of the sky and land squarely on my head killing me instantly. Could happen. It wont though.
Do you not find it odd that lots of our fans are still banging on about the play offs but won't entertain the idea of relegation?
I must be reading the table incorrectly.
Has everyone forgotten that day at Stamford Bridge?
Keep one eye out for that comet.

*as has been discussed to death elsewhere, Blackburn and Leicester have to play each other on the final day so there is no way that both can remain, as they are currently, 39 points clear of Wednesday
Also worth noting that:

Leicester have to play Portsmouth (and Blackburn)
Blackburn have to play Portsmouth and WBA (and Leicester)
WBA have to play Blackburn
Portsmouth have to play Leicester

The number of permutations is probably too hard to work out precisely what this means right now - and it really only becomes relevant if the teams in 3rd bottom and 4th bottom are within 3 points of each other AND have yet to play each other - hence our concentration on the Leics-Blackburn game at the current time

If Wednesday lose on Saturday we need two of the four above Oxford to lose all their matches before next weekend so the gap will allow us to relegate them at the Lane.
That is very possible

Proper shit argument from them isn't it?!! Like saying you're not bothered who kills you because one day you'll dee anyway
Its absolute nonsense - relegation as an outcome to the season is pretty much the worst outcome that a season could have.

If you were to list the way in which it could be exacerbated, being relegated at your closest rivals gaff has to rank pretty high on the "how could this get worse" list.

And lets not forget we have several relegations on our CV in the past 50 years - most of which it was clear we were down a loooooooooong way before the end of the season.

But on 3 occasions we were relegated on the last day, in pretty much the most heartbraking way possible (missed penalty, last minute goal, lost at home to Wigan) - and got precisely no help from any of the other results.

We know shit relegations - apart of course from being relegated at the Sty...

As we play them on the Sunday it will also depend on the results from the following Saturday. We may not know until the night before.
I can`t in my head work out if its possible for us to enter that weekend (Blackburn play Friday) with there being no possibility of them being relegated on the Friday/Saturday, but knowing if we win they are down.

I suspect there isn`t a scenario like that. But as you say this will all solidify over the Friday/Saturday games.

What a load of bollocks 😂

Have a word with yourself.
I did, some years ago, when CW left the first time and saw the reality and again, when he dug his way back in whilst Hecky was here.
I got beyond irrational hate of S6 too long ago to recall now, as I grew up.
Life's too short and we have half a cities families who love the blue and white side of football too.
And I don't 'do' cult thinking.

A great post on shoutbox earlier ( not mine) " The clubs that establish themselves are either minted or run very professionally (and somewhat minted). We’re none of the above"

I want better for us. We're not getting it any time soon.
