Will we send Wednesday down?

So this has been a shit season for us, we’re just a couple of defeats away from it ending prematurely in February with no more parachute money coming in and all our best players potentially leaving the club in the summer.…Yet, some fans on here will be doing delirious cartwheels in the street if we send an already relegated, League One standard club down to errr…League One.
Fun sponge.

So after today’s results - Wednesday cannot go down on Valentine’s Day? As the worst case scenario would be 35 points from safety with 35 points remaining? Is that right or should I get my coat?

*horrendous at Maths btw - can someone more educated with numbers tell me what needs to happen now!?

Well there can't be 35 points remaining.

They are currently 39 adrift with 48 to play for.

Lose tomorrow that's 39 with 45

Lose next weekend they could be 42 with 42.

Which nominally means they aren't down. Except they would be as Leics play Blackburn on the last day so one, or both, would pick up some points.

Actually, fuck it. I nearly fried my brain trying to work it out.
Bottom line is, there is still a very good chance we will send them down.

Edit, just seen Selly's point. Although it wouldn't show R next to their name, they wouldn't be able to escape with that last game scenario. We need to hope thay get a point either at Swansea tomorrow or against Millwall at home which I don't think will happen.
Oh well, we'll just have to hope Bannan scores the winner to send them down!

If they lose at Swansea tomorrow and at Millwall next Saturday then they finish with 35 points if they win all the last 14 games, the only chance for us to relegate them on the 22nd if Portsmouth dont get more than 2 points out of their next three games before the 22nd of February, West Brom dont get more than 2 points their next two games , Leicester dont get more than 3 points from their next two games, Blackburn dont get more than 3 points from their next two games.

So in other words Silent, you are saying it’s still very much difficult to tell 😂

I certainly will 🤣
Im sorry you can't find any happiness or enjoyment in that too

i think blackburn & west brom could lose next 2. & leave door open. for them to start the game 40pts behind with 42 remaining & finish it 40pts behind with 39 remaining

They are 39 behind Blackburn and Leicester so I think we need both those teams to get 1 or 2 more points and pigs to lose their next 2. Could be wrong.

With their minus 40 goal difference it's 40 points

Perhaps we could have a minutes applause on 67 mins.

When the Wednesday fans ask if it’s out of respect for their current plight we can inform them it’s actually appreciation for the recent “6-7” craze.
Or we could beat them by 6 or 7
I’d prefer that

If we've won next two games first, a 1-0 energy saver will do for me.

If not, one of those "it doesn't count" hidings please.

The teams above them are yet to play eachother so its probably more complex than this but, in simple terms, we need them to be between 39 and 42 points behind 21st when they arrive at Bramall Lane.

They'll have 14 left to play beforehand, 13 after. Anywhere outside of that threshold and they're either still safe even if we beat them, or they're already down.

Just remember the magic numbers, 39 and 42... then its just the mammoth task of beating them.

After the derby there are 13 games left that's 39 points available, Wednesday are currently 39 points adrift of Leicester who are in the final position of safety, and level on points with Blackburn who are in the drop zone so assuming Wednesday lose all their games upto and including the derby all it needs is either Leicester or Blackburn to get a point before we play them and we mathematically relegate them as they would be 40 points adrift with 39 to play for

If I may be so bold. "Just remember the magic numbers, 39 and 42... then its just the mammoth massive task of beating them."

But also not to get too many points or they’re already down!

Genuinely think more effort has gone into us working out the permutations needed for us to send them down at the lane than has gone into working out what we need to get into the playoffs 🤦🏼‍♂️🤣

Yep. With any other manager I'd be thinking we'll settle for a routine 2/3 nil type game.

However - the Wilder factor has me thinking will go for the absolute kill and be relentless
He has a tendency to show restraint when we're battering teams but on this occasion I hope he at least wants 4

* I am not at all even taking victory for granted btw

Doesn’t matter if they trudge out of the Champ at home to Millwall next week.
Bannan doing it would be hilarious.
If it’s already done we still have a party
If it is us then the icing on the cake will be all the sweeter.

It's a shame derby games often "throw the form book out of the window." On paper we should absolutely muller them, it should be a cricket score. I watched their 2nd half today and they are beyond shit.

None of this "professional courtesy" bollocks. If by some miracle we are 4-0 up at half time, we need to come out 2nd half like it's 0-0 and really, truly destroy them.

Watched their 2nd half at Swansea they are really poor seriki and Brooke’s should have a field day nothings certain in a derby but we should hammer them
